Cross (2024)
This show is done almost perfect
This might be ONE of the best series prime has dropped all year.. the plot and sub-plot for this series is just amazing.. they do a really good job on not focusing too much on just one plot and makes sure you get an understanding of all the show.. the casting was just wonderful.. the supporting cast was great and delivered on every level.. Ryan Eggold is the PERFECT antagonist and played this role to perfection.. as well as Isaiah Mustafa as his co-star in this.. the music choices and scripted felt meticulously done and i appreciate every bit of this.. i binged this way too fast and im regretting it. It was twist after twist after twist and im still in "Aw"
Just watch this asap.
Don't Move (2024)
Solid 6 at best
I feel like people gas every new movie on Netflix.. I won't lie, i didn't mind the plot but the execution was just not there. It seemed like the story was incomplete with a bunch of unanswered questions.. It's very predictable and not very creative as well as really slow.. i would have loved some kind of backstory or atleast a better story.. i would say a certain character saved this movie but it was only about 4-5 actors with little to no dialogue... the best part was the old man.. it seems like they had a plot and not so much an ending.. Not the worse but certainly not the best so give it a watch..
Trap (2024)
First part of this was very intense and well done but lost me in the second part
This movie has a great plot and Josh Hartnett definitely delivered in every way. The first part of this movie was done well, it was intense and had me wanting more. But the last part/ending just seemed like they didn't know where to go with it. It was all over the place with multiple plot twists that made no sense and just lazy. I love M. Night but he can't keep getting away with these things.. The ending was fairly good as it was open and a potential for a part 2 in my opinion..
SN: the way he was getting out smarted in the end was just baffling to me.. they gave the "pop star" too big of a role in this and she could not act to me. Josh delivered and he is what saved this movie from a lower score.
211 (2018)
Not as bad as a 1/10 but 5 is being generous
This movie started on a high note and it's one of those fast moving movies.. the acting wasn't the best at all but my biggest issue was with the directing.. it seemed like they just said "we want a lot of bullets and no common sense" because the kills was just dumb.. they were introducing too many characters that they weren't able to get too deep into then killing them off that they didn't have anything to do with the story.. the writing was very incomplete and felt rushed and just sloppy. For instance they instructed the Interpol agent like she would've had a big role and realized she didn't do anything by the end of the movie and just gave her a "saving moment". They didn't even go deep into the backstory of the robbers and why they were doing it and if they were connected to any overseas operations.
The daughter being able to walk in the OR and question people was just sloppy writing just to try and connect the characters together.. also NO ONE has aim in here and it's just a cliche.
Caddo Lake (2024)
8.3 and loved every minute of it.
I absolutely loved every minute of this mystery thriller.. Dylan O'Brien and Eliza Scanlen delivers on every level.. some may call it "boring" but i think that's because you have to follow the movie to the T.. if you blink too long you'll miss something.. this was beautifully directed and executed well.. it was an open ending that left me stuck and wanting more.. a very unexpected turn and the way everything connect i think it's just beaufully genius... there was little explanation about the place they went but we can all agree on what it was.. every second of this will leave you locked in.. a very good job.
House of Spoils (2024)
Blumhouse this was a big NO
This movie was just not it for me.. Blimehouse should've left this where it was.. The story was incomplete as it jumped from one thing to the other.. The ending is where they really dropped the ball because it gave no explanations at all on the antagonist. It was just a bunch of incomplete scenes that they spliced together.. I really feel as though this could've been good given the trailer but even then it just didn't make any sense.. I don't want to give any spoilers but i was disappointed.. Acting was very mid level.. it feels like it was a rushed project that ultimately didn't add up to the synopsis..
Apartment 7A (2024)
Rosemary's Mom A solid 5.6
Not a bad movie it was just a little boring and more of a thriller than a horror... I'm not going to say it was a bad movie because it wasn't but it was a lot of buildup with essentially no explanation on the entity or evil that was lurking... there is some parts however that was good and i feel they should've done elaborated a little more on because it played a little too much on weird cult vibes rather than the actual horror movie... maybe it's a buildup to a potential prequel? Or maybe not... i found myself uninterested at time in the middle of the movie... i really think the ending saved it from a 4/5 score for me because it did end unexpectedly and unpredictably, which is not a bad thing... all and all it is worth 1 watch at most but i may need to watch it again to appreciate it.
Jackpot! (2024)
A fun and comedic version of "the purge" in a way.
This was not a bad movie at all and i honestly don't get the hate it's receiving... it's a very fun and entertaining movie for what it is... It was action from start to finish and it did not disappoint. The plot may not be all the way solid but it is a breath of fresh air for comedy...this is (in a way) a fun "purge" kind of movie when you think about it... the fight scenes were very good but a little unrealistic but like i stated before it's just completely a fun movie to watch... i especially love the end of the movie(the after credits)... cover art is unappealing in my opinion so i would recommend you just give this a try because you won't be disappointed...
Fire Country (2022)
This show started off on the highest note for me
This show started off on the highest note for me...mostly because i loved the plot of it and it makes you feel good inside... It could do with a little less crying and a little more details on the fire side... The part i most dislike is the crying in every episode, some of the acting is a little eh and the talking through every tragic incident was the only issues i have... but for the most part it is a good overall show... what i will say is that i do love the family as it showcases real family problems and what they may go through... They also have some GREAT music... all in all it is a show worth watching and you will enjoy it.
The Sandman (2022)
Netflix is on to something with this one. JUST WATCH
This is a brilliant show in so many ways. I was trying to go to sleep so i could remember my dreams after watching this. I love how they explain dreams and the different type of dreams as well as the nightmares. Rose acting was not that great in my opinion but i do like the role they had her play. I love how they wrapped up the first season by having everything come full circle in the dream world. I cannot wait for season 2 as the first season set the table for all of his scandalous siblings to eat(except death and destiny). I love the cast, Tom Sturridge plays a great dream and i also like Corinzio as a character. Just watch.
Night Swim (2024)
Nether good or horrible it's worth 1 watch in my opinion
This movie lacked a lot in my opinion... I'm not sure if this was suppose to be a horror or just a plain thriller... the beginning led me to believe that the movie would be much more than what it really was.
It more so revolved around the dad and son and not the daughter(which they showcased in every preview).
The backstory was very bland in my opinion and offered little insight of what it actually was that was terrorizing them...
The CGI on the creature in the water was very ill done as it wasn't near scary.
Maybe by it being the first time(i could remember) they've done a movie where the water was haunted was the reason it didn't hit as hard.
Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003)
Favorite horror movie
I may be bias because I've watched this movie over 50x... i can literally say this is one of my favorite origin stories yet... i can recite this movie word for word without missing a beat... i really appreciate how they continued it from the first one... people don't understand that that the creeper can regenerate whatever body part he consumes... i hear people saying it doesn't make sense how he can get his head cut off and get another one... a lot of people also don't understand his picking selection bus scene and why he chose who he chose... i would really like an origin story on how he got started with everything... i think a prequel would be great.
Reacher (2022)
SOME OF THE BEST ACTION IN A SHOW TODAY!!!
Jack reacher In my opinion is probably one of the the best movie to tv show adaptions there is so far... Alan Ritchson plays a GREAT reacher... The opening scene had me hooked from the start... it was so intense without even saying a word... i love the characters and the directing was great...We all know the personality of Reacher but we still loved this roll and it didn't seem like a knockoff... the supporting cast is top tier.... Malcolm Goodwin played a great Finley from the mannerisms to the uprightness... the fighting scenes is some of the best scenes... i particularly loved the 3 dog scene interactions... i recommend this show to anyone who loves the books and movies. It's definitely worth it.
It (2017)
A modern day take on a classic!!!
I really appreciate how they kept to the storyline and didn't veer too much off of the original characters backstories... the personalities of the characters were spot on compared to the original with a little more wit(Eddie and Richie)... not only terrifying but comedic as well... was refreshing to see that you can do a remake and still pay homage to the original... also the directing was fantastic. The casting was great from the child actors to the adults... Bill Skarsgard really showed his range in this one... having just watched the original one right before this i really enjoyed it and hope for more work.
