Modus (2015)
a quite well made Swedish TV series like several others!
Modus is a pretty well made TV series just like several other nice TV series made by swedes!
I think the reason for why i am pretty much into Modus is that it is pretty engaging. it really is pretty much like quite several other Swedish TV series such like Äkta Människor, Jordskott, Beck and even the comedy one Solsidan. The storytelling is so good and with that many characters making appearance, one never knows what connects all of them and what their true intention really is. Modus does not have a so unique or ground breaking subject in terms of the purpose of the wicked happenings committed so far in it. But the making of it combined with good directing, acting and cinematography gives this series a great atmosphere and quite a few mysteries to solve which, is also what has so far got me hooked for.
it surely is highly different from any America made TV series and it so far lives up to what i am always happy to see in a Swedish TV production. will continue follow the show till the end of the mysteries gets revealed!
Admission (2013)
a pretty decent comedy/drama
i actually do think that the film was more of a drama than a comedy. it was surely not the type of the film i expected before i watched it. Since it had Tina Fey and Paul Rudd, i surely expected the film to be either similar to Date Night or This is 40. But the film was quite different from those two in a good way. it was such a joy to see both of Fey and Rudd acting in a more drama- like comedy without all of the exaggerating acting. Although for me it did seem that Tina Fey's performance was a bit constrained it was still quite nice to see her portray a role which was just a normal person which we encounter every day around us. Paul Rudd also gave a quite lovely and warm performance in portraying his character. The film was not a crazy comedy full of jokes, but rather it was a decent more drama-like film which encouraged people to start taking responsibility for what they do and have done.
Hancock (2008)
Way much better than it is rated here!
Maybe this movie is not that unique and different which makes its rating here not that high, but in my eyes, this film is really way much better which should let it get a higher rating. I am not going to talk about the technical part in the film since there is no need to talk about it before we can really tell no difference between the scenes using it and without it. About the performance, I would say both Will Smith and Charlize Theron did a good job. Will is always good at being both funny and serious in different scenes in one same movie, and he did it quite good again this time in "Hancock". Charlize was also good in the film, her performance was natural and really no strings attached. That really makes us able to see the power inside her performance. The movie actually is not really the one which is "totally entertaining". I said it is because this movie has a part which is a bit heavy. That actually a bit breaks the speed and the rhythm of the movie. But since it is needed for the direction the movie goes, I would not really mind about it. The movie is good, and you will see a funny Will Smith as always, so why not to go to enjoy it?
Kung Fu Panda (2008)
good, but not totally amazing.
I have just seen the film today. It is quite interesting, but not totally amazing. It is very well balanced in the whole film with those little lovely jokes. But some of them are kind of familiar. The character building is kind of OK to the main roles, but fortunately, the nice action scenes help the supporting roles to be remembered also. It is just an animation, so it should not be asked to have too many theories in it for people to figure out. Being entertaining is its ultimate mission. Fortunately, it totally fulfills its task! But still, as I said it is not totally amazing since I did not really get surprised when I saw this film like when I saw "The Incredibles". Maybe it is just caused by the different themes these two different films have. This film is quite interesting and entertaining. So if you would like to see a lovely Panda and his lovely friends doing martial arts, then don't miss this film!
Nannan nünü (1999)
I became to like it after I watched it for a couple of times.
When I got this movie, I just thought it would be like the rest of other gay movies, or even worse since there was only one actor in the movie that I could recognize. With that thought I did not really watch this movie carefully when I watched it for the first time. All I was searching for was how sexual this movie could be. Well, unfortunately this movie was not that sexual at all, well..at least compared to a lot of french or Spanish movies or even "QAF" and "The L Word". So I left this movie with dust for a quite long time. But when I lately checked this movie out again, I found I actually really under rated this movie. This movie is actually quite close to the real life of people. Though the performance of some actors is not that professional, but it actually makes this movie even much closer to the real side of life. The pace of the movie is just peaceful and slow. There is no that intense dramatic scene either. But maybe just because it is so close to the real life, so you can easily get yourself connected to the scenes in the movie. I would say when you watch this movie, you will not feel that this movie talks about homosexuals at all. That is actually quite interesting since Homosexuality actually is what this movie is supposed to be about. So, go to watch this movie, and take the vision how the director used in this movie to look at homosexuals, then you will find, actually, it is simply just about natural attraction.
The Heartbreak Kid (2007)
Should I laugh or cry?!
When I heard about this movie, I thought it could be something like "Duplex" at least. When I finally saw the movie, I knew I had just totally misunderstood it, well, not in a good way. The movie was really kind of weird. I couldn't be sure if the movie was trying to make me laugh or cry. Also the characters in the movie, I was not sure if I should like them or dislike them. It was totally not a typical Ben Stiller's movie. Seems the director was trying to make a balance to the movie between being funny and touching, but finally the movie was made neither funny nor touching. The movie also didn't make me feel comfortable since something in the movie made the movie quite unnatural. So if you actually expect a movie to make you feel happy, then do not go for it. If you expect a movie to touch your heart, then do not go for it either. This is really a movie which has totally wasted the talent of Ben Stiller. I have to say, the trailer of the movie really has got all of the best parts of the movie already! So go for it or not, you decide.
Premonition (2007)
It is just beautiful and touching
Before I saw it I thought it was gonna be another regular thriller. But after I saw it, I found it was really a beautiful and touching movie, with sadness and tears. When the movie moved on you became to feel more and more sad and even a bit depressed. But when the end of the movie came up you finally found what was going on, and all left for you was to be touched with the tears. Go to see it if you miss someone deeply and to cry a bit to express your depression of missing out. Then you will feel way much better I think. The music in the movie was really quite good, they always appeared at the right time to touch the most sensitive part of your heart.
300 (2006)
A triumph of effects!
Just saw this movie yesterday, and well, maybe because I had seen the trailer of this movie for so many times, so when I really saw this movie, I was not really surprised that much. But it is still a good movie, at least according to the effects that I have seen which is really kind of revolutionary. When I first time saw the trailer of this movie, I was quite clear about what I would be looking for from this movie, which were the Colors and the Contrast. But later, after I watched this movie, I found that there was something else which totally interested me also, which was the Slow Motion. I am not sure if it is really called in that way. But the slowly moved camera could really capture the details and to make me have that feelings. Normally, I quite dislike to see this kind of slow motion in an action movie. But in 300, it was perfectly repeatedly used, and it really made all of those "moments" quite overwhelming and breathtaking! Just go to see it, if you are into seeing the difference that the colors and the contrast could bring to you, if you would like to see how the slow motion could shake you!
Gosford Park (2001)
lost some of the balance or...?
first,i would like to say that it was a good movie for sure!it was really rare to see any movie which could have that many roles appeared in the first 10 mins!and you couldn't even be able to tell that who is the leading role or not clearly!but well, then the problem came up also, really think that it was too much to tell about everyone in the movie, and it was just too soon for the movie to finish after the climax~but as the genre of this movie is drama,Crime,Comedy and Mystery, then i have to say that this movie was not really that outstanding!well, actually i said that was because that this movie was not really like a crime or a mystery movie which means that if you thought that this movie could bring you the excitement as what "Death on the Nile" has brought you, then you would be disappointed!actually before i saw this movie i really wished that it could have been like "Death on the Nile" or "Evil Under the Sun",but after i finished it i just found that it was really better to be called as a Drama!but even to suppose it as a drama, then there is still the weakness for it which is that because that there were too many roles in the movie, then the time for each of them to appear in the scenes had to be limited, though i could see that the director just tried the best to have almost all of them in every scene to make the whole movie not be apart, but still it has given a lot of limitation to the performances of the actors!and also it could still confuse the audiences about the identities and the relationships of each of them!but maybe that the main purpose of the director was just to show the things between these roles and the crime and the mystery were just like the tools to be used for helping him to express that purpose better.but that was just my guess, though it really looked like that!anyway, for the control of that many roles in one same movie by the director really had to be appreciated, but the balance of all the parts of the movie and the balance of the time for the roles to appear was not really well given enough!
Thumbsucker (2005)
it really reminds me of "Junebug"
i watched this movie cuz that one of my friends asked me to.and the reason for why he would like to watch this movie was that it was partly filmed in Oregon~~he he he..sounds a bit ridiculous huh?hmmm...anyway,i know that this movie has got an award for the best actor somewhere before, and yeah, the performances of the actors in this movie were really nice,no matter the leading roles or the supporting roles, they all did shine!and actually when i saw the beginning of this movie, the first thought in my mind was "oh,this movie looks a bit like 'Junebug'!"i didn't mean the stories or the structures of these two movies were alike..just..the feelings that those two movies gave me were really similar!both of them started from the families, and finished by leaving the families, and both of them looked quite real and just like the things that we might have experienced, and also the weakness of these movies was almost the same which was that both of them lacked of the real climax!i meant that i didn't really see that kinda breathtaking moments appearing in these two movies, maybe because that they were just about the things that might happen in real life and usually that you couldn't really ask the things that might happen in real to be that dramatic~but that actually really made watching this movie a bit boring, and also to make the whole movie a bit...loose~but still,i would like to recommend people to watch this movie, cuz for those people who have already experienced that period in their lifetime,it could probably remind them of some interesting memories, and for those people who are just about to experience that,it could be like the lesson for telling them what to do or what they should think about to do!
The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
hmmm..just a bit more bloody than "Wrong Turn"
well,i have actually never seen the original one,so i don't know if that the original one was as bloody as this remake.but after i watched the newer one..hmm...really have to say if that the old one was as same as this one, then i wouldn't be able to understand why it could be called as a classic~he he he...yeah,as you can see that i didn't think that the remake was good or even fine...~as the summary of my comment showed that in my eyes, this movie was just a bit more bloody than "Wrong Turn",but except for those bloody scenes, there was nothing more that could really interest me to keep going.~this one didn't even scare me as what the remake of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" did!but on another hand,i have to say that there was still something,or maybe a Role in this movie that really touched my heart a bit!yeah,i am not kidding, this is not a drama, romance or a comedy, i know that, but it doesn't meant that there couldn't be something touching!i am not gonna tell what has touched my heart in this movie, cuz,he he he,you could just try to figure it out yourself after you watch it,well, though that possibly you would be quite disappointed by this movie for it is being as a horror,but...hmmm...i don't know, maybe just because of that role, that this movie was not really made to be that formal as usual!
Cry Wolf (2005)
not really what i expected
have to say that before i got to see it,i thought that it would be the one which could give me some surprises, but after seeing it,i found that i was just disappointed.this one was not that interesting at all...not even better than "Scream".well, actually the first part of it was sort of nice, cuz it was just like that all of those characters were involved into a game and becoming as the preys of a killer, but after that halloween scene, you can definitely tell that the killer must be one of those "Preys" which really makes this movie less mysterious and scary.and also there was a shot of the characters figuring out about how they should be killed in the game which showed the hints about the end.though it would probably make people feel curious about it first, but after you can even tell that killer must be one of some people, then that shot was just like ruining the whole movie.
Junebug (2005)
scenes of life
got this movie after i knew that there was an Oscar nomination for it.watched it at afternoon---the time in a day that could make people get sleepy quite easily.but fortunately that i didn't really get sleepy.the movie was fine, smooth, peaceful,no many surprises, was just like hmm..watching the life of someone who lives next door.the acting was nice, and yes, have to admit that Amy Adams really gave a very nice performance, you could feel all Ashley's pressures, happiness, sadness from her acting.and also the performances given by other actors/actresses were also interesting, the characters of each of them were clearly shown in front of your eyes by their performances.and just as i said that this movie was quite smooth,so is the end.just like that you finished writing a diary of one day.
Cursed (2005)
The waste of Christina Ricci
Well, actually before i saw this movie,i thought that it would not have been that bad.cuz there was Christina Ricci in this movie, once that i saw Christina Ricci in Sleepy Hollow,i was totally attracted.and also i found that the movies with this girl could always be kinda weird and dark what i am quite into~.but after cursed, think that i have to judge carefully next time.hmmm...well..about Cursed...it is like...a game..between kids...which means that i really felt that this movie was made for ...kids..it was kinda naive and quite boring...though i didn't see a lot of werewolf movies before, but still,i never thought that a horror movie could be kinda ridiculous and funny like this.it was not like a horror movie at all!about the special effects in this movie,i have to say that you really cant believe what you see is what the technology could do in this century!yeah,i meant that you would rather believe that this movie was made in 90's or something...cuz there was almost nothing visually shockable.and about the story,well...it was even more stupid than the effects...and also that not every roles in the movie were totally involved which really made this movie a bit...loose....though still,i have to say that the appearance of Christina in this movie was like the only reason for me to see this movie after i finished.but even though,Christina also acted kinda dumb in this movie,i don't know why,but you really cant find that it was the same girl in Sleepy Hollow!that darkness around her was totally gone in this movie...which actually i quite longed to see!!!and after this movie,i really have to say that the director of this movie Wes Craven is really a ...strange one.cuz sometimes he could present some very nice movies like Scream,Red Eyes, but sometimes he would also present some quite dumb movies...he he he..maybe it is just like what people always say:"No one can win forever!"?
A Home at the End of the World (2004)
smooth, quiet, the story what might happen in your life.
a very nice movie which has a smooth, slow storyline and quite good performances of the actors and the actresses.the relationships between all those main characters in this movie are quite interesting.cuz they are sort of complicated.Bobby(Colin) is the one who is another side of all the relationships with others in the movie.but you could never feel that there is anything wrong that he has done with others which i meant to say that you could just feel that he is so innocent,he just does everything with his senses and feelings.he never does anything to offend others.though,it is kinda weird for that he is just being in such many relationships with others, but you could never be hard on him,cuz you know that everything he did was just because that he has a kind heart and the love in his heart for everyone.
it is a movie about the love,it is the movie about let things go in their own ways,it is the movie about something what might just happen in your life sometime someday.
They (2002)
totally disappointed!
really cant believe that this movie could be that terrible!!!i thought that this movie could be the one to scare me before i saw it,but after i finished it...i found that i was totally wrong.this movie was just...boring...there was nothing scary in the movie, really nothing...and the poor performance of the main character was also quite disturbing...shrugged,maybe the only interesting part of this movie is the name..."They"...it could have been better if the performance of the actors/actresses could be improved...and also have to say that the director didn't really do a good work for this movie.anyway, nothing more to say about this movie but the disappointment.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)
an interesting one but the performance
well, don't really know how to comment this movie.let us say that the way of this movie looks like interesting.not because of the color of the movie only, also because of the special effects of the movies.but except for those what i just mentioned this movie almost has nothing more.no one really PERFORMED in the movie.but actually look at the cast, those 4 main characters are all played by those talented actors/actresses!what a waste of the talents of those actors/actresses!!and even that the special effects of the movie were not bad,but still, they were not totally original which means yes something in the movie had been seen somewhere else before already!such like those flying fighters which looked like the metal birds that i have seen this kind of stuff in a Japanese cartoon which is called as "The Papper" already.so when i saw this stuff in the trailer,i just screamed out:"oh god,it is the thing that i have seen in the cartoon!they just grabbed idea of it!!!"shrugged, this movie really gave us something new, like the black & white style.but...looking through this whole movie, have to say,the disappointment is much more than the excitement that it could give.
Ong-Bak (2003)
a not bad movie especially when you see it first time
well, this movie is a not bad movie actually, not about the storyline, cuz the storyline was still kind of...old and boring..he he he..but the action scenes there in the movie were really kind of amazing especially when you see them first time.heard that those action scenes in the movies were totally real which means that all the actors in the movies were really FIGHTING with each other when the film got filmed!!!wooooow...kind of scary!he he he...but that could be reason why i got shocked and surprised when i saw this movie.
go to see it if you like action movie, especially this is a different one from others which we were used to see!
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
How boring this movie could be!!
have to admit that when i finished seeing this movie,i just thought that i was teased!it was really a stupid movie!the special effects were quite bad, even it was made in 1996!i cant believe that george clooney, quentin tarantino and juliette lewis would love to join this movie! before i got this movie,i just expected that it could be weird and cool! but,at last,i nearly got all disappointment!!! quentin died before the movie ran to the half.juliette was very sensitive and weak at the beginning when they met george first time.but when they striked back to the vampires, she acted as one who used to shooting at others! there wasn't any smooth link between the scences.it made me feel that the people in that movie could change their styles and characters at once! anyway,it is not a good movie for me i think.but it is still bloody! ya could see the fight between the vampires and the human being, even they seemed so stupid! thank godness that it was not 2 long to let me bear! just hope that i will not see any movie like this again.
Copycat (1995)
not bad one!
have to say that this movie really suprised me! when i got this moive,i found that the performance of Sigourney Weaver was really brilliant!seemed like that she was really that psychologist!also the whole movie made me feel nervous all time!but one flawness here i have to tell is that the criminal was so easy to appear in front of us!just hope that it could be like the "Seven",but whatever,it was not the "Seven".lol~~ also there was one point i love to mention.that is the scene which the real criminal appeared frist time!it was in the lecterual hall where our psychologist was attacked!it was really a cool arrangement! i like it very much! anyway,"Copycat" was a good movie, even it was not good enough, but could still make ya feel thrilling!
Taxi 2 (2000)
not bad,but short.
this is a not bad series in my mind.when i saw "Taxi 2",i felt that it could make me laugh always, especially at the beginning when that woman who was pregnant got on that taxi:P also it was very funny when he explained to his girlfriend.dont ya think that it was very smiliar to the movie named "Meet The Parents"when he got home to meet the parents of his girlfriend?and that father also was so funny! anyway, for me,"Taxi 2" was really a good movie.but one problem here is that it was 2 short!when i felt so high,"the end"coming to the screen!it really made me feel a little disappointed! whatever, have to say that this movie was good for someone who likes laughing always just like me.cuz it was really easy to make ya feel fun!
Lan Yu (2001)
excellent for Art,Society and Gays!!!
this movie is based on a story called "Beijing Story".actually,so many people have read this story before.everyone has been affected though many of them r not gays. well,in this movie, the director tries to let everything run as the same as what the story told.we could see the same scence as what we had imagined after we had finished reading the story.the two main actors have performed very well.we have to be affected by their performance again.because of their performance that we could see an excellent movie today. but the most important is that this movie shows people what the relationship between two people who has same gender is and how they face the stress from everywhere to live together. it will help more and more people knowing, understanding and accepting these kind of people. so i have to say that this movie is so excellent!for Art,Society and Gays!!!
