No Reasons (2016)
Definitely not for everyone
Wow, just wow.
I cannot say I enjoyed this film, but it definitely made me feel something.
The scene sets on what seems like a normal drama, then gets worse and worse, the characters are truly horrible all except the private investigator and the dad of the little boy.
1 hour of almost peace and serenity and 1 hour of absolute bonkers behaviour, i have sincerely not been so gobsmacked ever. People will hate this film, its a real divider, but its very different and will no doubt be acknowledged in years to come as something very chilling indeed.
Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018)
Beautiful Documentary
I really loved this documentary, coming from the UK we never got to know Mr Rogers, I do wonder what impact he would have had on the UK's kids through the 70s and 80s.
The documentary moves along at a great speed, and factors in all the aspects of this wonderful mans life. I truly wish i'd been able to see this when growing up, maybe my outlook as a young adult would have been far different.
Blind (2019)
Style over substance?
I'd love to really praise this film, which I saw about 3 weeks ago at Romford Film Festival, but i feel it really went for style over plot, if it had taken an eye off the visuals and put more into the plot it would have been ideal.
Having seen Blood Feast at Frightfest some years ago, its clear the filmmaker has much improved, its pacing and direction of actors has massively improved.
Bind has a place in world, but I feel if there is going to be a Blind 2 they need to focus more on plot than visuals.
Unregistered (2018)
Epic
I saw this incredible short at Romford Film Festival, its a 20 minute breeze of a short that is absolutely busting at the seems with a big budget feel. I really felt the cinematography was amazing, but the film was let down slightly by a small hollow point in its delivery, the story end. I understand this may be used to create something bigger.
Stridulum (1979)
Bonkers Stops Here
Mark my words, you will never forget this movie. Like a cross between the bible and a daft punk video, long before daft punk existed. If someone could truly explain this film it would be great, even star Lance Henriksson seems to struggle to understand whats gone on when interviewed years later.
The cinematography is astounding, the cast a big suprise, if only anyone knew what it was all about.
Fear (1996)
In a world of its own
While often imitated its never been equalled Fear is the ultimate home invasion movie, a star studded cast battle against the odds, the pace of the film moves along really nicely only to fall down at one point. Wahlberg and Weatherspoon outdo themselves as convincing polar opposites bought together only to be ripped asunder.
This film is where its at.
Host (2020)
I don't get it
I really do not understand how this movie became so popular, its very poorly made and goes on far too long. It makes no sense how in a 45 minute zoom meet (shut off due to hitting the time limit) the friend in the UK went from daylight to pitch black in a short time period.
I really wanted to like this, but it brings nothing new to the table. The effects were good, but the story falls down very quickly, performances go from good to just bad and the story really lacks some power. It was al just a bit to meh!
Puppet Killer (2019)
So funny
I recently saw this at Romford Film Festival and have to say it is an absolute masterpiece!
Great sharp witt floods throughout, the leading actor a man clearly in his late 40s or 50s is thrown in to show homage to the the trope of putting an older actor into a teenage role. Loved the sharp homages to other films, the killer as Jason for example, hot tub deaths. And of course, those unaccredited cameos.
Magnificent movie!
Event Horizon (1997)
Epic score
If ever there is a movie that is made that bit more special by its score it has to be event horizon. I truly love this film for its incredible score, a super snappy dance beat floods through the striking visuals of intense horror!
Chi l'ha vista morire? (1972)
Solid, atmospheric thrills
Love this movie it has a great atmosphere, George Lazenby plays against type.
The film is littered with striking scenes of great suspense that will stick with you long after the films ends.
I Scream on the Beach! (2020)
Socks
Great spoof of 80s horror films, told with much wit. Great performces for the majority of the cast.
Possiby a little overlong 10 minutes should be shaved off to make for easier repeat viewings.
