Hawthorne (2009)
Finally a Great Show about the real People who run an ER
And I have to say, I was stuck to the television set throughout the entire marathon this pass weekend. This show is fantastic. What's so great about it is, that nurses really do run hospitals. You think it's the doctors or the administration. BS. You go to a hospital these days and all you are going to find are nurses, and maybe a doctor or two.
Mrs. Smith is great in this role as the Head of the Nurses in this hospital emergency room. She takes on everything thrown at her. Even her mixed up crazy daughter.
I'm glad TNT picked this show up for another season. One of the best shows this summer!
The Philanthropist (2009)
Fanstatic Show
When the first episode came on, I said to myself. This show is going to be a huge hit. This show is real. It's shows what a real person is capable of doing with his money, instead of spending it on Rodeo Drive or on another stupid car.
I would rather see this show, instead of another stupid reality series, with half naked people run around a stupid island or a house, after the last bit of bread or whatever.
I hope the network keeps this one. They probably won't. Network's usually get rid of really good shows and keep the garbage.
It's great to see Jesse Martin back on television and something that shows his true talent. And the guy who plays Teddy Rist. He's just fantastic.
Awake (2007)
Surprised Me
It truly surprised me. I am usually the Sci-Fi, shoot um up, blood and guts type of movie watcher. But last night I was bored and wanted to watch something entirely different.
I searched the cable channels and found Awake. It was a good cast and I was entertained throughout the entire movie. Shocked at what finally transpired with all of the characters.
Didin't expect a lot of the twist and turns. I won't give them up here, you will have to watch the movie for yourself to find out.
Hayden did a great job in this role. Those damn eyes of his.
The one thing I couldn't understand is what the bad guys would be getting out this whole experience if Clay died. That wasn't really explained.
Anyway, good movie. You have to watch it.
Luster (2002)
My goodness people - Chil Out.
This is was on a list of gay films I wanted to see and wouldn't you know it. I came upon it on Saturday night - just like that. I thought it was a fun movie. I think a lot of people won't like it because it obviously didn't have a high budget and didn't have all the Hollywood pizazz that you get from a Hollywood blockbuster.
I thought the title character finally learned his lesson at the end, because of the end. That's all I will say. The nudity of course didn't bother me. But I thought the final nude scene was fantastic. This guy didn't look like he had a nice body with his cloths on (you know skater boy body), but when he took off his clothes and did the 360 view of his body. My goodness. Got me hot!!!!!!!! Trust me, you will love this movie. Rent it. Buy it. Or wait - it will be on cable again this week.
Ratatouille (2007)
Funny
I saw this movie over the weekend and I thought it was outstanding. Very funny and enjoyable.
There were a lot of laughs and a lot of surprises. You will be thrilled from beginning to end.
I would watch this movie over and over again. The ending turned out very good and I was a little surprised.
All in all, I'm glad I waited to watch it in my own home.
Before you watch this movie, make sure you have all of your provisions for the movie, i.e., popcorn, dip, drinks, because you don't want to miss a single frame of this story.
Crna machka, beli machor (1998)
Funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny
I just so happened to find this movie on cable Christmas day. I started to watch it and then went to something else, but came back to it. What a great and funny movie. I watched it all the way through. This movie was all over the place. The characters, the plot, the music. It was just a lot of fun to watch and enjoy. Please don't look for a block buster here. This is the type of movie to watch and enjoy with some chips and dip or some other type of food and just watch to be watching.
Trust me, you will not be disappointed at all.
The wedding scene was particularly funny - right up until the end of the movie.
I want to see this movie from the beginning, because I turned it on in the middle.
Dreamgirls (2006)
Wonderful
I read a lot of the reviews from people who hated this movie because there was too much singing in it. Am I stupid or did I read that wrong. Wait a minute - maybe there is too much singing in this movie - I wonder why - Oh Yeah - It's a musical - Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Come on people - I'm sure everyone has heard this story already - every knows the story line behind this movie - it's based on the book that was turned into a musical on Broadway. Lots of singing and dancing. Give me a break.. I hope you people were not going hoping to see gunfire and buildings blowing up. If you want to see that - go to another movie.
Anyway - I thought this movie was fantastic. Wonderful storyline, wonderful singing and dancing and ended on a good note.
Now - for Jennifer Hudson - my God. "And I am Telling you, I'm Not Going" It made me weep and the goose bumps were up and down my arms and my neck. I purchased this movie from BB so I could see it as many times as I wanted. I had to back it up a couple of times just to hear her sing it again and again. Powerful and Heartful - no wonder she won an Oscar. Ms. Hudson blew me away with her voice and of course her acting. Spot on.
I saw the original play on Broadway with Jennifer Holiday and Ms. Hudson reminded me a Ms. Holiday. Both powerful voices and acting abilities.
See it. You will not be disappointed. Trust me........................
Crossroads: A Story of Forgiveness (2007)
Wonderful
I thought this movie was excellent. At times I just wanted to strangle Dean Cain - he was so clueless as to his son's.
Very good storyline, very believable. I would see it again.
It truly makes you think about "what if".
And also - you can't judge a book by it's cover. You might be thinking one thing and in the next instant - you looking at yourself.
Think about it.
I think the guy who played the racer was indeed very believable in his role.
He made me change my mind about him by the end of the story. Excellent.
Glitter (2001)
You know what people - shut up already!!!!!!!!
I got to say, this is the second time I say this movie. I watched it last night on TCM. I really enjoyed it. I mean I like Mariah but I'm in total love with Valeria Pettiford, who plays her mother. I mean she's not in the movie a lot, but she's there. I mean come on, this a B movie and everyone knows it. But it doesn't stink like everyone says.
It tells the story from beginning to end, with a little power struggle in between. It has a start, a middle and an ending. About a little girl who has a horrible childhood, but ends up becoming a star in her own right. It's a lot of little girls dreams.
Anyway, Mariah did this herself, after this movie she went down hill and fast, but look at her now - she's at the top of her game. That's what it's all about.
See it again, but this time, stop being so damn critical. You people don't go to the movies anymore to just enjoy the picture, your so busy looking at the flaws in the movie. Like Bad lighting or bad character introduction - come on - just watch the ()%&#*(&% film and enjoy it. Stop being critics and start being MOVIE GOERS.
The Polar Express (2004)
Just
I have avoided this movie for so long - I don't know why. So I sat down and watched it on the Disney Channel this past weekend.
By the time the train finally arrived at the North Pole I was so excited to see Santa Clause I couldn't handle myself.
It was well worth the wait.
And I like the way Santa was bigger and taller than everyone there. That's the way he should be presented. Santa is much bigger and taller than you could ever imagine. Of course, he was taller than the elves, but also the adults at the North Pole.
He had that commanding voice and spirit in his face. You just felt the love and happiness.
It's funny, I'm over 40 and I still hear the bells. Do you?.................
See this movie and you too might hear the bells again.
The Ten Commandments (2006)
Oh Leave it to Hollywood
I really wish Hollywood would come up with some new ideas and quick. Instead they go around and recreate and mess up a perfectly good movie with a re-make. This movie is awful from the DeMille version. All the way through this movie I was saying to myself, Huh??? - What???? - I don't remember that part. The only exciting thing in this movie so far was the parting of the Red Sea. And in Heston's version - it was a heck of a lot better than this version. Did anyone else see an atomic or nuclear bomb cloud fade in and out when the Red Sea was being parted? I think I did. Anyway, I Might - Might - watch the last part tonight.
I wish Hollywood would tackle different ideas and subject matters when they are making new movies. Instead of re-hashing old films.
They should of left well enough alone.
UPDATE:
Well I watched the last part. Did Moses make up the second copy of the ten commandments with his own hand - or was I seeing things - please someone - email me and let me know. HORRIBLE
Law & Order (1990)
What In The Hell
What happened last night on Law & Order. Now I knew Serina was going to leave the show - but wow. I didn't know they were going to fire her and then she says "Is this because I'm a lesbian". Where in the hell did that come from. Did anyone know that this character was suppose to be a lesbian. I'm a Law & Order fan since the beginning and I never heard this one before. Was anyone else disappointment with her ending as I was? Please email me and let me know. I would of like to see her gunned downed - but then she wouldn't of been able to guest starred later on. Just like Paul (the black attorney) did a while back.
Anyway, like I said before - I'm a die hard L&W fan from way back.
White Chicks (2004)
Better Than I Thought!!!!!
I never wanted to see this movie - because of the fact - I don't like the Wayans - especially these two. The only Wayan's I do like - is Damon Wayan - because I know his wife and their kids - great family. Anywho, this movie turned out to be rather a little fun and the only part that didn't make sense was at the end at the white party - when everything was coming to a end and the two brothers had to take off their "masks" - now - they both had blue eye contacts on - but when they took off their mask - the contacts also came off. Did you see that? When they took off the fake masks - their eyes where suddenly brown. That just freaked me out. Other than that - the movie was a lot of fun.
Face/Off (1997)
Calm Down People - Give This Picture A Break
I mean come on. I thought this story was great. Here you had a cop who obviously worked a lot of hours, days, weeks and never had time for his wife or daughter - that's why his daughter was acting out with the wearing of weird clothes and going out with losers, and also why his wife was a mean B*%CH.
In this household - his job came first, then his family trailed a slow second.
As far as the surgery was concerned - it was something that was secret and not main stream - if you remember - the doctor said that his body type would change also - it would have too - John Travolta was much heavier than Nicholas Cage.
Besides the fact - it's all make believe anyway - grow up and enjoy the film. Jeez - don't take everything so seriously.
Ring of Darkness (2004)
Give Me A F*#&%& Break
I watched a total of 45 minutes of this movie before I gave up and turned it off. This movie of course was made to bring in the female and a select group of male people. Just the group alone on the stage groping themselves and I don't know how many times I saw one of the guys lift up their shirts to show everyone that they all had six pack tummy's. After the 10th time one of the guys did that - that was enough for me.
And then the audition to replace the gone lead singer. All of the guys auditioning - sounded the same. They all didn't do anything different in the dancing department - with the exception of pointing of the fingers to the audience and of course - lifting up their shirts to show off their six pack.
It's on cable - maybe I will watch the rest of the movie sometime this month - but if I don't - trust me - I won't miss it.
The only good thing about this movie was maybe - John Wynne. Cute Guy.
The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Okay
This movie was a little confusing - but I finally understood it after watching it the second time. There were a lot of complaints about this movie - people were saying that it didn't make sense and it was a stupid ending. But if you really look at it - there couldn't have been a different ending than the way it ended. If it ended any other way - the movie would have to start over again with the original Matrix. This way both machines and humans come out the winners, and Zion was saved. If the Matrix had lost, all of the millions who are still plugged into the false world (our version of the world) of the Matrix would of died while still plugged into that world. This way - if they reject the fake Matrix world - they can become unplugged and join Zion.
Choice!!!!!!!!!! Period. That was the meaning of this movie. Human Beings NOW have a choice - in the first two movies no one on the planet did. They either excepted the Matrix or were deleted.
I don't know - you have to see all three movies back to back to fully understand what they were trying to accomplish.
The Red Shoes (1948)
What Can Be Said???????!!!!!
I have seen this movie numerous times and time and time again - it's gets better. As a former dancer I can relate to a lot in this film. You are always struggling with dancing or having a personal life. It's kind of impossible to do both. Think about - can you name 5 famous male ballet dancers? You can't.
This movie is visually stunning and the music and costumes are exceptional. If you are a dancer - you will understand and relate to movie like no other - if you are not a dancer - you will relate to this movie like a dancer and a person who has ever been in love or is in love now. It will tug at your heart strings and make you cry - if you let it.
Enjoy it with a loved one - trust me - he or she will thank you when the credits start to roll.
The first time I saw this movie years ago when I was still dancing - I watched it with my mother (also a former ballerina) and we both cried our eyes out and related to it. Enjoy 10 * out 10.
Bully (2001)
What the *(#&%(*#&%(?????
***SPOILERS**
I don't know about you, but this movie p****d me off to no end. Teenagers cannot be this dumb. Who would half plan and execute a murder and then ask certain people (not involved in the murder) for help in a) moving the body; b) should they call a help line and report the murder c) an alibi for the time of the murder. Just stupid. Three of the 'Kids' involved in this murder did that Stupid. The police 'DO' investigate murders and they 'DO' ask your friends questions like 'Did he/she say anything to you about a murdered body?'
The Kid's who talked to other people about the murder in this movie, did not kill this 'Bully', they watched. The Kid's who actually did kill Bobby, didn't say anything to anyone like the plan was suppose to be. Come on, when you commit a crime, you are not suppose to go around and tell people about it. Anybody knows that I don't care if your high or not. You just don't do that.
Also, this Bobby character is not that typical a lot of guys are mean spirited closet homosexuals. They have dominating fathers always on their case to succeed and do better and a mother that says nothing, but babies them. And they always have a very close friend that they can dominate over and bully, case in point Marty.
I just found this movie to be a little stupid. Kids can't be this stupid even if their tripping on acid or pot. I thought the pregnant girlfriend of Marty would be the level headed one but she was one of the idiots that went around asking for help in moving the dead body.
Overall, the only character I really did like in this picture was the Hit-man. He was only sane person in the group. He tried to get everyone to understand what they did but alas stupidity won over thinking correctly.
One thing I did not agree with was the sentences at the end of the movie. Marty received the most harsh sentence out of all of them. The Hit-man was the one who actually did the final blow that killed Bobby. Marty only slashed his throat.
This movie did not make any sense. I think you would have to read the book to get the real understanding of the true story.
Party Monster (2003)
I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW YET!!!
I will have to watch this movie from the very beginning. I really started watching it in the middle before Angel was killed.
But I have to say - from what I have seen so far - as a gay man - this movie was horrible. McCauley Caulkin was, was, was........oh jeez - kind of "DANGER WILL ROBINSON" - you know what I mean. He read his lines as if he just learned them twenty minutes before he said them on film. I wanted to read the lines faster and better for him - that's how bad I felt.
Don't get me started on Seth Green...........moving on.
I don't know - maybe if I see the entire movie - I will have a different opinion. I don't think so - we will see.
The Punisher (2004)
Okay - enough already!!!!
I am so tied of seeing Hollywood redo old movies over and over again.
Dolph Lundgren already did this movie - and with great acting years ago.
Now I don't mind them bringing back comic book characters and old television shows from the past - like Lost in Space and the such.
This is just Hollywood trying to get a bite out of the apple twice.
Leave the old movies alone, don't trying making them over again with special effects and all of the Hollywood crap that you put in it.
This movie has nothing different in it that the old one had in it.
It was the same old story line and same outcome.
Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)
Enjoyable
I truly enjoyed this movie. There were some slow points when I had time to use the restroom. I sort of like the type of movies that make me wait to use the restroom - you know what I mean.
I have to say this about this movie - if there ever was a person they could of cast to play Patrick Stewarts clone - it was this Edward Thomas Hardy. I mean - my God they had almost the same face, right down to the dimple in the chin. I mean - Thomas Hardy could easily pass as Patrick Stewarts son or even little brother - did anyone else see this. I know I did.
This movie was rather dark too. Not too much light, but I guess that was the whole point of these people living on the dark side of the planet.
Very good movie.
Angels in America (2003)
Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!
I stayed up late to watch this movie. Three hours long was not long enough for this movie. Everyone in this film had drama going on and they each had their own little stories that they were going through.
You never knew what was going to happen until it happened.
Al Pacino - what can I say............I'm speechless. REAL Performance. I truly believed his character. There are people who are out there who are exactly like that. You wouldn't believe how many.
Justin Kirk - God - what can I say about this wonderfully beautiful man. He just has that type of face that you fall in love with on site. And he was totally funny in this picture and totally serious also.
You must see this picture. You will not regret it!!!! Believe me.
The Outer Limits (1995)
Double Helix
Out of all of the episodes of The Outer Limits, this episode really got my goat. It starred Ron Rifkin
To remind you - it's about the college professor who injects himself with a strange serum and then he starts to change and is told in his brain that he has to gather 8 WHOLE men and women and then hunt for something in the woods.
Well, he gets his 8 men and women, but at the last minute two drop out. The Latino Male and The Black Female - funny huh.
Now, there are only 6 men and women - WHITE.
Anyway, he finds the other two - his son and his son's girlfriend. Also WHITE.
Anyway, the story goes that they find this thing in the woods and evidently, it's a space ship from millions of years ago, from an alien race who said they "SEEDED" our planet and they were waiting for us to become intelligent enough to figure out the clues and to join them "HOME" They said that they requested the very best of 8 plus one of the what is represented on our planet to see if OUR experiment work.
Now - here's my problem. This episode was very racist. How can you represent the entire world, if you don't look like the entire world. Okay these two minorities quit because of the taking off of their clothes, but the professor should of chosen a more diverse representation of the world. Everyone was white. This is not the representation of the world. Hell, he didn't even have an Asian in there.
They were all white. The writers and directors of this episode should of mixed it up a bit.
What do you think? Maybe I'm reading too much into this. But I've seen this episode twice and the first time I didn't even realized. But I saw it Sunday and it made me think....
Chung Hing sam lam (1994)
Nice
The greatest thing about this movie was the cop walking around his apartment in his little underwear. Asian men are so compact and tight. I love them!!!! Everything else was a little over done.
The girl in this movie was a little dizzy and doing things that didn't make sense to me. Did she want this cop or not. It was never fully carried out.
I don't know, maybe I missed something.....
Hyôryû-gai (2000)
Okay!!!!
The beginning of this film was pretty good. You got to see this guys nice ass and this tells you this is going to be a interesting movie.
Then - ZZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzz - boring. Until we meet this Asian gentleman who seems to be in love with this girl Kei. The Asian man is beautiful and he never smiles during the entire film. But he has that kind of porcelain doll look.
Then a lot of stupid stuff in the middle.
Then the ending - the two killers kiss at the end (which I figured out in the middle of the film - no one can be together in that much violence and not turn to each other for comfort). Finally it's over.
What did you think. Send me a email....
