In first few minutes you know it's going to be painful watch. Real animals were replaced with hand operated puppet.
You can see a puppet show for 10-15 mins but making 90mins movie is torture.
It's like a puppet show minus entertainment.
Acting wasn't fine from human being but puppets sucks.

Ok so this isn't a high budget film, and there's no actors you'll recognize, but that's ok. This is a funny, touching film with a little something for everyone. Except for kids that is, do not let children watch this movie.
If you go into this not expecting a whole lot, you're likely going to leave happy. There's nothing too deep here, and nothing that we haven't seen before from Hollywood, but the execution is good and it's enjoyable throughout it's runtime.
I'm not too sure why this has a 3.6 when there are no reviews before mine. Something seems to be wrong with the ratings system. In any case I rate this a decent 7/10

Allan is hilarious, Sam Daly and Alison Haislip are great in their roles, and it's a sweet story that doesn't take itself too seriously. In a world full of stressors, it's great to see movies like this coming out. Relax and have some fun with this movie!
If you're looking for a lighthearted comedy with some genuinely laugh out loud moments, this movie's for you. Don't let the cute dog puppet fool you- this is definitely geared toward the adult crowd! This story's about friendship, being true to yourself and remembering what matters in life. We can all use a little laughter right now. Allan will deliver! The relationship between Allan and Matt (his owner, although Matt would probably not call himself Allan's owner- more like best friend!) is sweet and moving. You feel their strong friendship and really care where they're taking you. There's romance, there are laughs, and the acting is top notch. It's well done overall and especially for an independent feature with puppetry(!), I say kudos to the filmmakers. Sit back and enjoy Allan the Dog!

Allan the Dog had me laughing from beginning to end! Sam Daly is outstanding as Matt. I loved the darling Alison Haislip as the dog walker and shared love interest between Sam and Allan. The writing is so fresh, funny, and smart. I highly recommend!!

I must admit, I was interested in watching this with my 12-year-old son. But after the first 30 to 60 seconds of the movie I started to realise it was taking a dark turn and probably wasn't for children. So we stopped watching. I later watched it myself just out of curiosity and found it to be compelling and hilarious. If you like the movie Ted, i'm pretty sure you'll find this movie is for you.
I gave it a nine I feel like it's more of an eight but a lot of people are scoring it very very low which drags it down to a five. Which is far as I'm concerned is very disappointing for this movie.

Steve Wright has an edge - his humor comes through clearly in this screenplay and the cast fit this production perfectly. This real life/puppet combination seems seamless, so much so that at moments I forgot that dogs can't talk (but don't tell Allan).
If you're expecting a movie with Best Picture potential, I'm not sure you'll find it here. But, if your looking for an entertaining film that holds the blood, sweat and tears of all those involved, you should definitely watch "Allan the Dog".
I give it 9 stars, but I admit I'm a bit biased. The cast and crew did an awesome job turning Allan into a star.
