Some of these reviews are weird! Anyway, the show is frickin hilarious with it's randomness! The cast works like a charm and you could have sold me for a nickel that the two cops are married in real life! You don't have to follow the story line. Love seeing LaRoyce I his role due to his main roll in Chicago P. D. plus he's nice to look at. Definitely recommend it as something to enjoy entertainment wise and not attempt to make political or comment on how it's not political bc seriously politics is not a personality trait just as much as disliking politics isn't, just take it for what it is....

This is far and away the funniest newer comedy I've seen. One of the best ensembles As well; every character is funny. It's rare that a show catches me during the first episode but this is one of them. Great Chicago references sprinkled in as well.

Based only on the first episode, this is a very funny new show from Comedy Central. The pace and editing means that the jokes come at you fast with basically no time to catch your breath. The first episode does a lot of leg work establishing the characters and the world and it does a great job doing so. For people who have watched Reno 911! and Workaholics, South Side will definitely feel familiar in a general sense, but also fresh and new because of how underrepresented Black creators are. There are times where you can feel how the actors are improvising and playing off each other, which is very reminiscent of the other shows I mentioned and it's something I personally love. I love comedies that feel just a bit unpolished.
This show is good. It's fast paced, the characters are great, the world is interesting and it's very funny. I'm definitely tuning in again.

I live on the South Side, and I like everything about this show. I think it is very Chi -- the most Chi-town show on t.v. The locations are familiar. The characters are authentic. The perspectives of the characters are very real. In the episode about the popcorn game, which is truly so serious in Chicago, they even set the chase scenes to House music. The humor is very silly, which does not suit some people's taste, but the whole show is just too fresh to be corny. I love it, wish it came on every night.

And this show is still hilarious! Also hilarious is the 1 star review from the clueless conservative nutjob complaining about the liberal agenda. What a tool.
Funny! Please go and watch! I promise that you will love this show. It's nice to just put on in the background and laugh every now and then while you're busy. I found myself turning my full attention to the show. I love it! I like that the laughs come from everyone. Its not predicated on 1 person carrying the show. I wish more folks new about it. I dont want it to get cancelled. Im sure if folks knew about this show, they would enjoy it. I am a fan and i cant wait for the next season (if there will be one).
Super underrated. Comedic gold in my humble opinion. The cast, jokes, writing, Chi references are all top notch and worth viewing multiple times.

Very funny show and Chandra Russell absolutely makes this show what it is. But it seems to be losing its way in season 2. I'm only on season 2 episode 5 so hopefully it gets back on track.

I dvr everything I want to watch if I can...(hate commercials and have a short attention span). I'm on the se ond of three episodes to air so far, and it's taken me about 2 hours to get through them because I keep pausing and rewinding the jokes. The show is a must watch, it is smart and real, I feel like I know the characters. It's a well-written, (with some hilarious improvisation), comedy about two semi-young men living while Black in South Side Chicago, their work lives and their shenanigans. It's really funny, so funny that it almost feels like an inside joke.

I love the South Side! This show is witty, funny, and clever. Humor based in dialogue instead of gimmick. I breezed through the first season in one weekend.

I finally watched after seeing many the commercials on comedy central while watching The Office, broad city, or drunk history. I really enjoyed these characters, especially my dude from Sherman's Showcase (Another must watch show), Officer Goodnight! If you want to laugh your A#s off at some silly humor please watch!!

Season 1 is fresh, sharp, witty and laugh out-loud funny. The Chicago references seem natural to the story and not at all forced. I love how there is such a wide variety of characters that show up in the episodes repeatedly so that you start to get to know them over the duration of the show and how sympathetic the characters are even though the struggle to make the best choices at times.
It feels like they either switched writers or ran out of ideas for season 2 because they rely heavily on gross-out, shock value, try-hard humor. I doesn't even seem like the same show. I would recommend watching season 1 and then stopping.

I watched the first season and was amused. There were some very funny moments, definitely enough for me to be interested in a second season. At about the episode 4 mark in season 2 (the Ferris bueller one), I was HOOKED. I'm howling with laughter, rewinding scenes to catch all the jokes, and loving every minute. I'm not sure why people say the show is not woke- it's humor and comedy without punching down. The humor comes from the situations and personalities, not at the expense of marginalized people. There is not a huge amount of politicizing issues, but that's on brand for the characters and their lives. I absolutely love this show and will continue watching it! 8/10 because the first season was a little hit or miss for me.
If you don't love the show from the first episode, then maybe it's not for you, but I highly doubt anyone will dislike it. All the people I have introduced this show to fell in love with it too. I think it's absolutely hilarious and one of the rare comedy shows being produced right now that are actually funny. The jokes are quick and witty and you may miss them if you don't really pay attention. It's very reminiscent of Detroiters, which is another light hearted comedy that doesn't take itself very seriously. I love that every individual character is fleshed out with their personality quirks. I think people from Chicago would love the reference to their city.
Legit one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, the humor and writing is smart and relatable. Each character is Multi layered on every level. The show is just brilliant.

This show is crazy funny.
I've watched the season at least three times.
Dying for Season 2.
This is one of the rare black comedy shows that gives you 90s and early 2000s vibes with how great the quality and witting are. This show is a gem. I like every episode and I'm watching season 2 right now. Good laughs, great acting and jokes.

Saw some people leave an one star review for totally unfair reasons. I'm a little pissed so decided to leave one as well. This show is funny AF period. I approve!

My husband and I binge watched this show 2 years ago and have been checking back in to see if they were ever going to do a second season. I'm from the South side of Chicago. It's refreshing to see that the show is not completely about death and destruction. HBO had SHAMELESS, and that was hilarious and about the south side but this show is REALLY about the south side 😂
