The announcement that Martin Scorsese’s gangster movie “The Irishman” will run 210 minutes has left cinephiles in a state of shock and awe. For every person on social media expressing excitement over Netflix letting Scorsese see his vision through seemingly uncut there are many more bemoaning the rise of increasingly longer runtimes. At three hours and 30 minutes, “The Irishman” will run a half hour longer than “The Wolf of Wall Street” to become the longest narrative feature of Scorsese’s career. However, this fact would not be true had Scorsese been able to release his original four-hour “Wall Street” cut. The 240-minute “Wall Street” would have made the 210-minute “Irishman” not so much of a big deal.
Scorsese has long downplayed the existence of the four-hour “Wolf of Wall Street.” In a January 2014 interview with Gold Derby, the director said that while a 240-minute version of the movie did exist...

Can “FBI,” CBS’s rookie procedural drama from Dick Wolf, be the network’s next franchise in the same vein as “NCIS” or “CSI”?
That’s exactly what CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl is hoping for, and points out that both CBS and Wolf have a very successful history of turning one series into a multi-series franchise.
“When Dick says he wants to talk to you about a brand extension you listen,” Kahl told TheWrap during the television critics association press tour on Wednesday. “He had a terrific pitch on how to expand the profile of the show, and it wasn’t just ‘Hey we’re doing ‘FBI 2.'”

On Tuesday, TheWrap reported that CBS was developing a spinoff of “FBI” called “FBI: Most Wanted.” The potential series will get a backdoor pilot during an upcoming episode of “FBI” this spring.

I never had a chance to meet Matt Rose in person, but we had become friends over the last few years via emails and a few phone calls, and he was somebody who you felt like you knew for a lifetime even after one conversation. For those who may not know, I started working on a series of books celebrating the lives of special effects artists in 2016, which is how I connected with Matt, and his story was (and still is) set to be a part of the next installment that should hopefully be out later this year. Tragically, though, Matt Rose passed away this weekend, and it breaks my heart that he won’t be here to enjoy seeing his career commemorated in print, because he deserved to get to enjoy that moment. So, I thought I would take this moment to pay tribute to Matt here and let...

Think of Krallice as the underground-metal equivalent of a gourmet food truck. Much as that set-up allows a chef to make their own hours and cook pretty much whatever they want, this Queens, New York, band’s M.O. affords them an unusual degree of logistical and creative freedom. They tour infrequently, record all their material in-house at guitarist Colin Marston’s Menegroth studio and release music direct to Bandcamp with little fanfare, at whatever rate feels comfortable to them.
If their methods are humble, the end product is anything but.

CBS, ABC and the CW are having a rough go of it so far as the first third of the 2018-19 television season draws to a close.
NBC is hanging tough on a year-over-year Nielsen basis, and it has landed two new dramas — “Manifest” and “New Amsterdam” — in the top 10 in the adults 18-49 demographic. Fox is showing renewed signs of life thanks largely to the influx of “Thursday Night Football” viewers.
For the season to date, CBS and NBC are neck-and-neck for No. 1 in total viewers according to Nielsen’s live-plus-7 ratings incorporating a week’s worth of delayed viewing.
NBC is weathering the loss of “Thursday Night Football” games better than CBS (last season the Eye and the Peacock shared the package that moved to Fox this year). CBS is averaging 9.31 million viewers, down 10% from the comparable frame last year, in Nielsen’s L7 ratings from Sept. 24 through Dec.

There are a lot of words you can use to describe the cartoon villains of your childhood. Creepy, sometimes disfigured, occasionally downright nightmarish? Sure. But hot? Villains from '90s animated movies were usually the furthest thing from attractive. That's why fans were shocked when the first look at the upcoming live-action remake of Disney's Aladdin came out - and Aladdin was not the only hot dude in the picture. That's right, folks, you heard it here: Jafar is . . . sexy? So, who's the charismatic actor bringing a new take to this iconic villain?
Marwan Kenzari is the 35-year-old Dutch actor bringing Aladdin's evil vizier to life. Although he's a relative newcomer to Hollywood, he's already had a successful and award-winning career in Europe. He spent the first few years of his career tackling roles in television and short films, before his 2013 breakout in Wolf. The Dutch crime drama, in...

Dick Wolf‘s reign over broadcast television isn’t ending anytime soon: ABC has given a pilot production commitment to Wolf’s reboot of the ’90s cop drama New York Undercover.

A reboot of Dick Wolf’s 1990s-era cop drama “New York Undercover” has been a given pilot production commitment at ABC.
The reboot will be written by “Hand of God” creator Ben Watkins and will be a co-production between Universal TV, where Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment is based, and ABC Studios. Wolf and Watkins will executive produce with Wolf Entertainment’s Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski.
The original version, created by Wolf and Kevin Arkadie, aired on Fox for four seasons from 1994 to 1998. It starred Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo as a pair of undercover detectives in New York City’s 4th Precinct and was the first police drama on U.S. TV to feature two people of color in the lead roles.

ABC has closed a deal for a pilot production commitment to New York Undercover, a new incarnation of Dick Wolf’s 1994 cop drama series, which will be written by Hand of God creator Ben Watkins. The project from Wolf Entertainment is a co-production between Universal TV, where the company is based, and ABC Studios.
This matches the pilot production commitment commitment ABC recently made to a reboot of another 1990s New York cop drama, NYPD Blue, which is currently casting a pilot.

Who's a good boy? Who is a very good boy? There's a Super Pets movie coming. Krypto is ready for his close up.
Finally, someone is going to put Krypto in a movie. No, I mean it, I actually think this is a fantastic idea. Back in August Collider broke the news that Jared Stern is writing an animated DC Super Pets movie for Warner Bros. Now THR has word that Stern will also direct, alongside Sam Levine, and that the movie will open on May 21, 2021.
You see, Krypto is a very good boy. Wait, sorry. I just love dogs, and I've been waiting for someone to put Krypto in the spotlight. The Krypto The Superdog animated series than ran from 2005-2006 didn't really catch on, although he has fared better in appearances elsewhere, notably an episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and as a recurring character on Young Justice.

Law & Order: Svu star and executive producer Mariska Hargitay summed it up best on Twitter on Wednesday night. “Season 20. #History,” she wrote after NBC’s announcement that the long-running crime drama has been renewed for a 20th season. That ties the record for longest-running drama series currently shared by Law & Order and Gunsmoke.
Just an hour or so earlier, Hargitay had broken the pickup news to the cast and crew during Law & Order: Svu’s Season 19 wrap party.

In May 2010, Wolf was denied a shot at breaking Gunsmoke‘s record when, in a surprising move, NBC’s previous regime canceled the mothership Law & Order series after 20 seasons. Setting a new all-time longevity mark had meant a lot to the uber-producer, who was very upset by the abrupt cancellation. He now has a second shot at history and likely won’t be denied again.

NBC has renewed all four of its Dick Wolf series. A little about our family… My wife and I love playing board games, card games and any tabletop game that we can get our hands on in our home. Recently we have been teaching and including my almost 8- year-old son and my 4-year-old daughter in our latest game nights with much success. With so many great games out there, it’s difficult for families to know what is a great game for family game night and what is a waste of money. Every two weeks we will have a new game to review and if any reader has suggestions for us, please let us know in the comments below!
