It was announced in August 2017 that Henry Selick had signed on to direct the pilot of this series based on the popular horror video game with the possibility of helming more episodes. The series will be executive produced by Joe and Anthony Russo who directed several Marvel Studios films.
As of Oct. 2019, there have been no status updates on the production of this series since it was announced in 2017.
Even though Six, the little girl in the Little Nightmares video game and this series, and Coraline, the young girl main character in the 2009 film of the same name, also directed by Henry Selick, both wear yellow raincoats, the two characters are not related.
The Hollywood Reporter reported in June 2017 that the Russos Brothers will develop and executive produce Little Nightmares, alongside Dmitri M. Johnson and Stephan Bugaj of DJ2 Entertainment. DJ2 apparently discovered the game early on in its development and struck a deal with game producer Bandai Namco before the game's release in April 2017. The Russos acquired TV rights in a competitive deal.
