Tarsier Studios isn’t straying too far from what it set up with Little Nightmares in its new game from Thq Nordic. Announced during Gamescom’s opening night is Reanimal, a surreal co-op horror adventure game with an emphasis on on tension and thick atmosphere.

In Reanimal, you play as an orphaned brother and sister who “go through hell” to rescue their missing friends. Exploring by boat and on land, you must use your wits to survive, work together to escape the hellish island, and the dark secret that haunts you. Fragments of the children’s troubled past have been used as inspiration for their character design, and for the monsters that now torment them.

As such, players will traverse an intriguing but terrifying world, where the main path is only one part of the fragmented story. Discover all sorts of mysterious locations on your perilous journey, each with its own story to tell.

On X, the account for the game released a statement acknowledging the community’s excitement for the next installment in the Little Nightmares universe. Unfortunately, the studio also revealed that development is not proceeding at the anticipated pace and they need more time.

Bandai Namco gave Little Nightmares fans the mobile version of the hit platformer last month, and it appears for 2024 that they aren’t quite done with revisiting the original game. According to the Esrb, Bandai Namco is planning a Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

This (so far) unannounced version of Little Nightmares was originally spotted by Gematsu on South Africa’s Film and Publication Board last January. This new rating summary on the Esrb website doesn’t really detail anything more about Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition, so we’re only left to speculate on what it entails.

One could assume that the game will sport the usual current-gen enhancements, such as increased resolution up to 4K visuals, as well as including all of the previously-released Dlc. It’s not known if this would be a free upgrade for existing owners of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.

While we wait for Little Nightmares III to arrive next year, Bandai Namco and developer Playdigious have given the Tarsier Studios original a mobile makeover. Yes, 2017’s Little Nightmares is now available to play on your iOS and Android devices.

This mobile version of Little Nightmares introduces a revamped touch Ui, but also comes with controller support and a cloud-based save system. It’s not clear if the Secrets of the Maw expansion is included with this version of Little Nightmares, however.

The 13-year-old musical prodigy, Nandi Bushell, is back with a new song, and instead of a cover, this time it’s an original. Teaming up with actor Josh Brolin, Bushell has released “Sweet Nightmares,” a spooky track she wrote which arrives on the perfect date: October’s Friday the 13th. Stream the single below.

With a driving rock arrangement, “Sweet Nightmares” features a haunting, ghoulish vocal performance from Brolin, though he mostly offers interjections like “Run, run, you better run!” Taking center stage are Bushell’s vocals, which range from spitting verses about how “leaders are liars” to melodic choruses that feel equal-parts Britpop, rock, and campy horror.

Nintendo was the big winner of this year’s Gamescom, the international video game conference that wrapped up in Cologne, Germany, on Sunday. Nintendo Switch game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom picked up multiple awards, including for best gameplay, best audio and the honor of most epic title at this year’s event.

Already one of the highest-rated games of the year, the latest edition of the popular Zelda adventure franchise has drawn raves for its stunning visuals, open-world architecture and creative gameplay. It was easily the pick of the batch at Gamescom 2023.

After celebrating a huge sales milestone for the Little Nightmares series, it appears that Bandai Namco is moving forward with their plan to continue the franchise. While the news is not a definite Little Nightmares III, it certainly does lean towards that being a possibility.

Spotted by Twitter user @SmackNPie, Bandai Namco has posted a new internship position on LinkedIn for a Producer Assistant for the Little Nightmares IP. Details on the project are of course kept to a minimum, but this is another confirmation for fans of the series that Bandai Namco is looking to move forward with another entry, despite losing original developer Tarsier Studios to Embracer Group back in 2019.

Again, the listing doesn’t specifically state that the project is Little Nightmares III, as it could very well be another spin-off in the vein of Very Little Nightmares, which was released for iOS back in 2019.

Swedish video game publisher Raw Fury has entered into a first-look deal with dj2 Entertainment, Variety has learned exclusively.

Under the terms of the deal, dj2 will get the first opportunity to develop film and TV projects based on Raw Fury games. The publisher’s catalog currently includes hit titles like “Call of the Sea,” “Dandara,” “Signifer,” and “Norco.”

“Entering into a partnership with dj2 feels like a perfect fit for Raw Fury,” said Raw Fury CEO Jónas Antonsson. “Their creativity and ability to take the core of each game and transform it into new art forms fit the Raw Fury vision and we are excited to work together and see what we will create.”

Sony has just kicked off its latest sale for all PlayStation owners, this time in celebration of the year’s spookiest holiday.

Well over 200 individual games (including Dlc and special editions) are currently available for a fraction of their usual asking price in the aptly-named Halloween Sale, with the majority of those included in the promotion belonging to the horror genre. Bandai Namco, publisher of the “Tekken” and “Soulcalibur” series, is partnering with independent developer DigixArt and “Wallace & Gromit” creator Aardman Animation Studios on a new story-driven World War I adventure game called “11-11: Memories Retold,” the companies announced Wednesday.

As of right now, details on “11-11” are relatively scant, but based on the game’s reveal trailer (seen below) it appears to be going for a striking, painterly aesthetic, contrasting the drab colors of battlefields with the beauty of flowers.

“Engaging audiences with compelling stories through animation is at the heart of what we are trying to do at Aardman,” founder Dave Sproxton said in a press release. “With this project we want to produce an emotionally rich experience with distinctive visual character to help you understand what war is all about.”
