This may be painful, but prior to Taylor Sheridan’s arrival as a storyteller, the Western genre’s heartbeat was growing faint; its glory days were a mere echo in Hollywood’s canyon. Who would have dared to dream that a movie could really spur a renaissance and bring the Western back to the forefront of American culture, reminding us all of the thrill of the untamed land?

This golden nugget of Western filmography not only capped off Eastwood’s illustrious career as a cowboy but also carved a path for new stories to gallop into modern audiences’ hearts. Stan Lee was never afraid to go places with his superheroes like Captain America and Iron Man from his early days at Marvel Comics. This confidence seeped down to every comic writer at the company who often subverted their fan expectation with certain storylines. However, there were several controversial choices that writers had to make, which did not impress the fandom.
Stan Lee’s Marvel Comics made some controversial choices in its decades-long storytelling
Some writers quickly realized their mistakes and figured out a way around them, while others chose to run with their choice to see where it took them. The latter choice either brought them new fans or angered the existing ones.

Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise is one of the most celebrated action franchises in the world. The series consists of four films, beginning with Reeves’ John Wick returning to his old life in the underworld after the death of his wife and beloved dog. The series was lauded for its inventive action choreography and world-building.
While Reeves’ John Wick may be a typical action movie character, a trained man with a dark past, there seem to be some extremely particular similarities with another character. John Reese, played by Jim Caviezel, was the protagonist of Jonathan Nolan’s sci-fi crime series Person of Interest. The two characters seem to have a lot in common.

Since then, he’s focused on the Chinese market, making the wildly successful two-part Red Cliff and the less successful romantic epic The Crossing. [This story contains spoilers from the two-episode premiere of Bosch: Legacy.]
Working as a journalist covering the police beat in the ‘80s and ‘90s, Michael Connelly believed his reporter’s job would be a means to an end in becoming a best-selling author one day. He would parlay his riches of stories from the various personalities of law enforcement officers he met during his newspaper years and craft a fictional no-nonsense L.A. Police Detective named Harry Bosch. Bosch’s creed would be simple and to the point: “Everybody counts or nobody counts.”
In 1992, The Black Echo became Connelly’s first best-seller featuring Detective Bosch. He hadn’t imagined then that, a little more than 20 years later, Bosch would become the longest-running single character in television streaming history, played by Titus Welliver. The character caught the imagination of Prime Video audiences for seven seasons with the series that bears the detective’s name. And now, Bosch: Legacy (on Amazon Freevee...

After cutting two episodes helmed by Elisabeth Moss — including the actor’s directorial debut, “The Crossing” — in the fourth season of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Wendy Hallam Martin collaborated with the series star once again in the Hulu drama’s fifth installment. Of the four episodes the Emmy-winning editor cut this season, Moss directed three, including the opening two hours, “Morning” and “Ballet.” While Martin did her fair share of preparation ahead of the fifth season to ensure she could draw viewers back into the intense situation on which the fourth one had left off, it is Moss’ vision, she highlights, that ultimately set the tone for the premiere.
“[Moss] comes on and absolutely kills it and has a vision herself,” Martin tells Gold Derby during a recent webchat (watch the exclusive video interview above). “I mean, I watch all my dailies, from top to bottom, and her vision is very apparent in her footage.

Things are shaping up for Bosch: Legacy Season 2. The Amazon Freevee series – which the streamer has already renewed for season 3 – will return in the fall of 2023. The new episodes will pick up after season 1’s cliffhanger ending, which seemingly saw the screen cutter rapist abduct Maddie Bosch. The show’s three core cast members will be back, as well as a number of supporting characters from Bosch: Legacy Season 1 and Prime Video’s original Bosch series.

After coming out in the 1990s, Sophie B. Hawkins is being open about the realities of living in the spotlight. Hawkins, 58, claims to have “coined the phrase” omnisexual when she came out in 1992.
“I took omni and I took sexual and I put them together, and I said, ‘This represents me,'” Hawkins said. She recalled explaining to a male journalist, “My sexuality is not based on my gender, and it’s not defined by your gender.'”
At the time, it was “a very new concept,” she said. “People did not pick up on it, and they just said, ‘Ah, you’re gay. You’re gay. You’re gay.'”
Hawkins also said that she takes a little credit for the term’s use. Now, though, “omnisexual is actually a thing.”

One of the most beloved novels from the author behind “The Road” and “No Country For Old Men” is finally getting its own screen adaptation. A film version of Cormac McCarthy‘s “Blood Meridian” is in the works at New Regency, sources confirmed to IndieWire.
First published in 1985, “Blood Meridian” is set in the 1850s and focuses on an unnamed teenager known only as “the kid” as he journeys across the American West and falls in with the Glanton gang, a real-life group of scalp hunters who targeted Indians along the Texas-Mexico border. The book initially received mixed reviews and lukewarm sales but has since been reevaluated as a classic and a subversive work in the Western genre.
Despite the novel’s fame, it has a reputation for being unfilmable due to its graphic content, dark tone, and introspective narrative. Several attempts to adapt the book have already been tried,...

Spoilers for "The Bad Batch" Season 2 Episode 9 - "The Crossing" follow.
"The Crossing" is the latest episode of "The Bad Batch" and it sees Omega and the team of Clone super commandos — minus Echo — heading to a distant mining planet where Cid has taken control of a mine. There, it's their task to mine a precious substance called Ipsium and get back. Unfortunately, in the process, their ship is stolen by a masked thief and they're stranded on the planet. Things get worse when they are pursued by a desert lightning storm and take shelter in a mine where they are promptly trapped.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger with the Bad Batch and Omega still left on the deserted desert planet, hoping Cid will come rescue them before their rations run out.
With classic Western story riffs and a score and location to match, this episode puts the heroes...

Grammy-winning singer, rapper, and actor Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi has signed on to star in John Woo’s “Silent Night,” an action-thriller about a father (Joel Kinnaman) venturing into the underworld to avenge his young son’s death. His son was caught in the crossfire of gang violence on Christmas Eve, hence the holiday-esque title. One of the many twists? Deadline previously reported that the film will be dialogue-free.
The original screenplay is written by Robert Lynn and is currently shooting in Mexico City. “Silent Night” also stars Harold Torres and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Additional casting is underway.
Mescudi recently appeared in Adam McKay’s Oscar-nominated “Don’t Look Up” plus Ti West’s ’70s slasher “X.” Mescudi also starred in “Bill & Ted Face the Music” and Season 3 of “Westworld,” and had a starring role in Luca Guadagnino’s HBO limited series “We Are Who We Are.”

NBC is parting ways with Ordinary Joe.
Deadline is reporting the network made the decision Friday to cancel the primetime drama after just one season.
The series drew decent reviews, but it failed to make a lasting impression on viewers.
Despite decent initial ratings, the numbers dropped as the season progressed, and it ultimately averaged 2.3 million viewers and a 0.3 rating across 13 episodes.
Out of the 17 scripted series on NBC, it ranked 15th, meaning that a cancellation was likely.
"Life is all about the choices you make — and sometimes what you do in a single moment can change everything,” reads the official synopsis.
James Wolk’s character Joe “faces one of these decisions at his college graduation."
"The three parallel stories that diverge from that night find Joe and the people around him with different careers, relationships and family lives, showing the unexpected ways that things change — and stay the same.
