The first season had me hooked. It was a decades, old mystery, combined with modern murder and disappearances. Many people were not who they seemed to be. Small towns have a lot of dark secrets. As much as season one grabbed me, season two turned me off. They decided to do the whole drug angle and blaming it on the foreigners with more big city interaction at a drug squad. This plot has been done to death on show after show after show. The Muslim culture was a part of season one but it is the focus in season two. There are all the traditional conflicts about women wearing scarves and dressing appropriately and men being traditional men. Again these topics have been done to death. Season three finally got back to what season one was. Wilder is once again investigating murder and mystery in a small, remote town. This is where the series shines. Not many people know what life is like in a remote, Swiss village, and have not traditionally seen it on the screen. Season two was so bad I actually fast forwarded through most of it so don't give up it does get better once again with season three.

Well filmed, cool location, nice casting. But the script. Geez. Tired of Rosa's self-indulgent pity party. Woe is me. Every character literally insulting every other character. Nobody helping anyone else. Everyone clinging to their own demented dreams. Everyone thinking they know best. Ugh.

Complex and very intelligent. Unfortunately the extremely common theme of conflict between a village/town/city and a determined developer/exploiter. Beautiful scenery and cinematography, fine editing.
Acting is all good. One of the characters is played by a person who has perfected the "sneer" affect - you might not like it, but it's pretty unusual and cool. Protagonist seems to maintain a proper balance of professionalism and suppressed emotional turmoil. Perhaps a few too many side plots. Maybe those will clarify and reveal the criminal mystery, but after three episodes I'm not sure.
Just finshed episode 3, certainly will continue.

I've now seen the 1st and 2nd season. I don't usually give out a 10, but I think the series rates it. Very grim and complex mysteries, interesting characters, and fine acting. Beautiful cinematography and editing. Moral turpitude and moral choices. Can't wait to begin the 3rd season.
