  [the elevator stops and the doors open] 

  Cloud Strife : I'd worry less about the planet and more about the next five seconds. Save the screaming for later.

• Barrett Wallace : SOLDIERs may attack on command, but I hear they make good guard dogs too. Bet you've seen a few reactors. So how do we get to the bridge above mako storage? Ain't holding out on me, are you? Stamp scared to bite the hand that fed him? Or is he a loyal little doggy? Have it your way, mutt. We can do this with you, or we can do this without you.

  [Cloud gets a migraine headache but it passes] 

  Cloud Strife : Different reactor, different layout. Depends when it was built. Never seen one like this, but I'll manage.

• Jessie : So what's SOLDIER boy's deal? Is he one of us now? He's got balls, this, uh... Uh... what was his name again?

  Biggs : Cloud. Cloud Strife.

  Jessie : Right.

  Biggs : And he isn't a SOLDIER anymore. Still, he's a professional, unlike the rest of us. I'm glad to have him.

  Cloud Strife : This is a onetime gig. When it's done, we're done.

• Wedge : C'mon, nobody'd do something this crazy just for money. They may not think you're a true believer, but you know what I think?

  Cloud Strife : Not interested.

  Wedge : What?

  [Barret gets the steel doors opens and Wedge runs inside] 

  Barrett Wallace : Wedge! You'd better be worth the money, merc. Every last gil.

• Barrett Wallace : [after Clould and Barret defeats Guard Scorpion robot, the robot shoots the tail laser around the room and blows up]  Shit! the bomb!

  Announcement : Twenty minutes until detonation.

  [Then the timer counts down] 

  Barrett Wallace : Hah, you hear that? Damn thing showed you how it's done!

  Cloud Strife : Come on, we've gotta move.

• Cloud Strife : You okay?

  Jessie Rasberry : Do I look okay? Help a girl out, would ya? My hero!

  [Cloud lifts the rubble off of Jessies legs and she stands up] 

  Barrett Wallace : Hey! We'll link up over there! Look after Jessie!

  Jessie Rasberry : Come this way!

• Security Officer : Who's there? Door!

  [the security guards gets their machine guns ready and shuts the door] 

  Barrett Wallace : Whoa Wait!

  Security Officer : It's over!

  Cloud Strife : That's my line.

  [Cloud enters into a fixed encounter battle] 

• Jessie Rasberry : It's a good thing I know someone who can get us the passcodes. Pity no one else at command will talk to us, but what can you do? And we're good!

  [the elevator doors open and Jessie runs in] 

  Biggs : Careful in there.

  Jessie Rasberry : So... you know Tifa, right? It's not really my business, but are you guys close?

  [Cloud has a flashback memory of Nibelheim during his childhood and meeting with Tifa as she waves to him] 

  Tifa Lockhart (Age 8, 13) : Cloud! Are you ignoring me?

  [They enter a boss battle against Guard Scorpion robot] 

• Jessie Rasberry : Yoo-hoo. I don't need to tell you what this is, right?

  [Holds out the Green Materia sphere in her hands] 

  Cloud Strife : Of course not. It's healing materia.

  Jessie Rasberry : You can have it. For saving my life.

  Cloud Strife : Just doing my job. Nothing more.

  Jessie Rasberry : Yeah, yeah... Fact is, I'm lucky you were there.

  [Jessie puts the materia in Clouds hands] 

  Cloud Strife : Survival can be a matter of luck of skill. And you can't rely on luck.

  Jessie Rasberry : Words to live by!

  Cloud Strife : Yeah, well... thanks.

  [Healing Materia obtained] 

  Jessie Rasberry : You do know how to use it, right?

  [a bottle of ether obtained, 2 hi potions obtained. Jessie runs off] 

• Cloud Strife : Can you walk?

  [Jessie stands up] 

  Jessie Rasberry : If I couldn't, believe me, you'd be the first to know.

  Cloud Strife : I'll take that as a yes.

  [Cloud and Jessie runs on the bridge but the pipe falls on the bridge and the bridge collapses] 

  Jessie Rasberry : Cloud!

  [Cloud jumps very high and makes it safely across] 

  Jessie Rasberry : Okay that was pretty cool. All right come on!

  [the mako reactor blows up and damages the buildings and causes a power outage and the cars on the freeway to stop] 

• Barrett Wallace : All right, Let's see if little Stamp really can bite the hand that feeds... Go on, Do the honors. Prove to me you're the man Tifa says you are. That you're one of us.

  [Holds out a time bomb to Cloud] 

  Cloud Strife : Never said I was. I'm just here for the paycheck.

  Barrett Wallace : Then do the damn job!

  [Cloud walks over and takes the time bomb and plants it on the reactor machine. But Cloud gets a migraine headache and it passes] 

  Barrett Wallace : What's wrong?

  Cloud Strife : I'm fine. What about the timer?

  Barrett Wallace : Your call, merc.

  [after Cloud sets the timer] 

  Barrett Wallace : Pretty cocky, ain'tcha?

• Jessie Rasberry : Barret!

  Barrett Wallace : I've got you covered. Find us a way outta here!

  Jessie Rasberry : But then-

  [Jessie is interrupted by the explosion] 

  Barrett Wallace : Don't worry I'll be fine! I've got SOLDIER boy with me!

  [Barret shoots at the security guard and Jessie runs in] 

  Cloud Strife : Ex-SOLDIER boy.

  [Cloud enters a fixed encounter battle] 

• Barrett Wallace : Our lives are on the line now. You listening merc? One false move... And that happens!

  [Barret shoots at the gun turret which crashes to the ground] 

  Jessie Rasberry : Well, so much for having Cloud do all the fighting. There are some places a sword just can't reach... Just... bear with him for me, would you?

  Cloud Strife : Should've asked for more money.

• Jessie Rasberry : No... No way.

  Biggs : This couldn't have been us... could it?

  Wedge : But what if it was...?

  Cloud Strife : What's done is done.

  Barrett Wallace : Merc's right. It ain't pretty, but we can't stop now. This was just the first reactor. And the planet won't be safe till we get the rest.

  Biggs : Yeah... We always knew this was gonna get messy.

  Wedge : And this is only the beginning...

  Barrett Wallace : Y'all gotta look at the bigger picture here. Nothing worth fighting for was ever won without sacrifice. Though you may not be crying out, I know you're in pain, just like the planet. But it's okay, cause I'm here for you! To help take the load off your shoulders! Your fears... Your worries... Your concerns... And yes, your fees... Whatever your problem, I got you.

  Biggs : So, what's our next move, boss?

  Barrett Wallace : That's easy enough! We get our asses home!

• Barrett Wallace : [When Cloud, Barret, and Tifa approaches the Shinra Building staircase]  You have got to be shitting me.

  Cloud Strife : Nope, we're a lot less likely to get caught this way.

  Barrett Wallace : But a lot more likely to die of boredom.

  [Barret looks up at the massive tall staircase in the building] 

  Cloud Strife : It's only fifty-nine floors.

  Tifa Lockhart : Nothing to it.

  Barrett Wallace : Well at least it ain't a race. Small blessing.
