Food is your friend. What I found interesting about this film, and different from others I have seen which focus on the results of unhealthy eating, is that it is not prescriptive. It doesn't give you a specific plan for how to change eating habits, or specifically what to eat, as in a particular diet. Rather, it suggests that we can all can be on a journey to better and more healthy eating by simply shifting the food groups that we eat and "listening" to how our bodies respond. It other words, not an easy fix but a commitment to a life long shift away from fatty, sugary and salty foods to whole foods, fruits, vegetables and grains. The balance may be different for different people depending on the condition they may be trying to heal or address. The film acknowledges that it takes effort, conscious awareness and certainly, the desire to improve one's health. The only meat that was discussed was liver, and I would have liked to hear more about that since a long time ago, I came to understand that liver and other organ meats were high in cholesterol and to be avoided. The film provides the voice of professionals and everyday folks alike.
I found this film to be difficult to follow. I kept thinking how are all these folks related and what is the overall point of the film. Perhaps that was due to the lack of a proper narration. And yes I agree that a WFPB diet is a great way to address your ills so I am receptive to the message but this just seemed to be bad writing that lacked a clear message. And what's the deal with the endless shots of the lil red car? Talk about a literary failure!
