Jerry O'Keefe was a Marine pilot in World War II. He shot down five Japanese planes in one day on April 22, 1945, becoming an ace in one day. He shot down two more on April 28, 1945. He was awarded the Navy Cross and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
In one scene, Jamie Foxx inexplicably holds a wooden baseball bat while strategizing with his team of attorneys, which is what Tom Cruise did in A Few Good Men (1992). Cruise's character was an avid softball player and the scene took place in his home, so it made sense that he'd have the bat. Conversely, Foxx's character made no mention of why he had the bat and the scene took place in an office setting far from his home.
