The little show that could, the gift that keeps on giving, and all the other clichés you want.
This episode was by far the best half hour of television I have watched this year so far. A fantastic idea that pulls off and then some. Stunning performance by Sheridan Smith who (again) hooks you in with her seemingly effortless charm and talent, and the rest of the cast hold it together brilliantly.
I don't think I've used the "roller coaster ride" of emotions comparison quite so accurately. I was left so shaken after the gripping, suspenseful and heartbreaking story that I doubt I'll be able to shake off anytime soon. I expected the usual twisted, witty and quirky fun show we expect from the series; instead I got a firm tug (or a hard kick) on the heartstrings.
Also massive praises again to Reece Shearsmith & Steve Pemberton for their incredible writing skills goes without saying.
In short: Wow! I have no envy for the episode that has to follow this.
