It has been decades since The Predator hit the screen, giving Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch the opportunity to lead his team on a mission where they face off with the Og extraterrestrial, played by Kevin Peter Hall.
Decades down the line, we have witnessed Arnie switch trades, donning the mantle of the Governor of California (twice!) and coming back from politics. In the meantime, we have been treated to 4 more iterations of the franchise, with one more set to follow next year. But it’s not the same this time around.

The Predator franchise will return to the big screen in November 2025 with Dan Trachtenberg’s (10 Cloverfield Lane) Predator: Badlands, with Elle Fanning starring in a brand new story. Speaking with Empire, Trachtenberg has dropped one hell of an exciting tease.
The main protagonist of the upcoming Predator: Badlands? A Predator!
“The creature is front and centre, leading the charge,” Trachtenberg tells Empire. “He’s still badass, but there’s something there that touches you emotionally, too. Creating a character you connect with, but are also super-intimidated by, has been challenging. But exciting.”
Like with Prey, Trachtenberg’s goal with Predator: Badlands was to “push the franchise’s boundaries,” allowing fans the opportunity to root for the Predator this time around.
Empire also notes in the sneak preview piece today, which additionally includes a behind the scenes shot from Badlands (below), that the film takes place entirely on an alien planet.

Oscar-nominated actor and Emmy-winning star Sterling K. Brown is reuniting with his “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman for a new thriller series.
Gone is the feel-good, family-friendly tone of ensemble drama “This Is Us”: Instead, Fogelman and Brown’s latest collaboration “Paradise” is pure murder mystery with a government conspiracy twist.
Brown plays a government agent who is questioned after the death of one of his neighbors. The official synopsis reads: “‘Paradise’ is set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high-stakes investigation unfolds.”
James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin, and Percy Daggs IV co-star. Marsden has already been part of a quasi-legal series with meta documentary show “Jury Duty.” Meanwhile, Nicholson won an Emmy for her turn in detective show “Mare of Easttown.”

Actors appearing in different projects is nothing new. In fact, some actors even tend to appear in the same long-running project in different roles. While this is more often seen in TV series, it tends to happen in movies as well, especially when you have projects as large as the MCU, so it is not strange that one actor plays different roles in various projects.
And while the story we are about to provide you with today is not directly related to the MCU as a whole, it is related to Marvel’s adaptations, as one actress actually played two different roles in two different iterations of the Marvel comic book universe.
The actress in question is Olivia Munn, and you’ll probably remember that she played Psylocke in Fox’s X-Men universe, but did you know that she also appeared in the MCU, but in a very different role...

Additionally, 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell has spilled the beans in a new chat with The Hollywood Reporter that a second new Predator movie is also coming!
Asbell tells the outlet, “After Prey became a success, Dan [Trachtenberg] came back and said he didn’t want to do Prey 2. And we’re like, ‘What do you want to do?’ And he rattled off a bunch of ideas that were really crazy but really cool. We’ve actually done two of them.

In the wake of Dan Trachtenberg’s (10 Cloverfield Lane) Prey going straight to Hulu back in 2022, we’ve learned that Disney will be releasing the follow-up film in theaters.
Also being directed by Trachtenberg, Predator: Badlands releases on November 7, 2025. Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon) has been set to star in the fresh new installment.
It’s interesting to note that November 7, 2025 had been the date occupied by Marvel’s long-delayed Blade reboot, but that project has now been bumped off the schedule completely.
Dan Trachtenberg is on board to co-write and direct Badlands. We don’t know much of anything about the movie at this time, but we understand it’s set to be another solo movie rather than a sequel to Prey. Stay tuned for more on Predator: Badlands as we learn it.

When it comes to game development, variety is always a blessing and a sight to see, especially when veteran devs are the ones who are spreading their wings into new genres within the games they are already developing.
In this list, we will talk about a few different examples where veteran devs created a game familiar to players but added a small twist that many players didn’t see coming.
5. Digital Extremes – Warframe Warframe fits into so many categories its hard to list. Image Credit: Digital Extremes
I have included this as the first point in this list as Digital Extremes have done a fantastic job working on Warframe over the past 11 years as it has expanded from a simple game in which players could use multiple weapons to complete certain missions.
However, throughout these many years, Digital Extremes has managed to expand Warframe into numerous different genres, even if only in small missions.

In the real world, Phil Hartman could never have nearly cuckolded Arnold Schwarzenegger — the late, great star was too good of a guy to ever embarrass that beta.
When comparing Chris Columbus’ filmography of family-focused Christmas comedies, the critically panned but mildly commercially successful 1996 movie Jingle All the Way doesn’t quite command the nostalgic adoration of, say, a Home Alone or a Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. But while Columbus only served as the producer and rewrote the script of Jingle All the Way, the film about competing fathers, Arnold Schwarzenegger and stand-up legend Sinbad, desperately (and violently) trying to secure the hottest toy on the market in time to appease their young sons before Christmas certainly has Columbus’ comedy DNA embedded within it.
Case in point: Columbus’ decision to cast Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons star Hartman to play the nosy, divorced and charismatic neighbor...

Brian De Palma has (at least) one more feature in mind.
The auteur told Vulture as part of a 40th anniversary piece for “Body Double,” that he has one more film in the works. The announcement was a surprise to some in the business, including Nick Newman of The Film Stage, who commented on the news that he had previously “heard from more than one reliable source that Brian De Palma was done directing.”
Apparently not.
De Palma most recently directed “Domino” in 2019; he had also publicly announced two other projects in 2018, respectively titled “Sweet Vengeance” and “The Predator.” Neither film was made.
Now, it seems that De Palma is set on a different possible swan song.
“I have one other film I’m planning to make. And we’re in the process of trying to cast it,” De Palma said. “I can’t tell you what it is, until it happens.

From Henry Cavill's Wolverine variant, Wesley Snipes' Blade, Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Channing Tatum's Gambit, Chris Evans' Johnny Storm aka Human Torch to Dafne Keen's X-23 aka Laura cameos, The Punisher's Thomas Jane had been the longest in reports before the premiere of the Deadpool threequel.
That, however, didn't come true. In fact, The Predator star himself confirmed that he was never called to reprise his iconic role as Frank Castle in the first place.

The latest "Alien" film -- a scary, cinematic addition to one of the most-loved genre franchises in the world -- was almost a Hulu-only release. In a new interview, director Fede Álvarez told Variety that the initial direct-to-streaming release plan for "Alien: Romulus," which is expected to make at least $40 million this weekend at the box office, was "a reaction to theaters being completely gone" during the first two years of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the outlet, the director initially signed on to make "Alien: Romulus" in 2021, a year before it was announced as a Hulu movie. Back then, you may recall, nothing was making money in theaters since the world was in a pandemic and crowded auditoriums were basically the perfect venue for germ-spreading. By the end of 2021, the tide turned when "Spider-Man: No Way Home" brought audiences back in a massive way. Up until that point,...

No two horror movie villains ever seemed more ideally suited for one another than the Predator and the Alien, the cinema’s greatest hunter and cinema’s deadliest beast.
Created by very different filmmakers in totally different decades, the idea that these two creatures co-existed stems from a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Easter egg in “Predator 2,” which briefly showed the head of the iconic Alien inside of a Predator’s trophy case. In the years to come they would share top billing in comic books, video games and eventually a couple of movies, to the extent that the two franchises now feel indelibly linked, even when new installments of each monster’s movie makes no mention of the other.
Let’s take a look at both series, together, to see how the films stack up individually and as a unit.

“Whoever wins, we lose,” read the famous tagline for Alien vs. Predator.
Ask most critics in 2004, and they would insist that we did indeed lose. “The title alone betrays an entire Hollywood mindset of rehash, reheat, recombine. Re-please,” wrote Jessica Winter of Time Out. “A movie based on a video game based on two entirely separate sci-fi horror series—so whatever was interesting in the originals has long been bred out, like double-jointedness,” lamented Ty Burr of the Boston Globe.
These samples captured the general tenor of the critical response, which decried AvP as an unholy diluting of two venerable franchises, a mess that no one in their right mind would want. According to these critics, AvP could appeal to no one who hadn’t read the original Dark Horse comic books, played the video games, or watched and re-watched the xenomorph tease at the end of Predator 2.
Of course the critics were wrong.

Exclusive: Aidy Smith is on a mission, to convince traditional TV’s gatekeepers to take a chance on presenters with Tourette’s syndrome.
Smith says he is the only TV presenter in the UK who has been diagnosed with Tourette’s, while there are only a handful in the U.S., with the crux of his issue lying with commissioners and execs’ lack of education over what the syndrome is and how it manifests.
Speaking exclusively to Deadline, he said “the room just goes quiet” when he introduces the idea of helming a TV series to those who hold the greenlight keys.
“Commissioners and creators need to unlock doors and realize we are capable of doing things,” he said.
Smith, who presents a branded content show about spirits, said that when broadcasters do make shows about Tourette’s, they often hire presenters who don’t have the syndrome.

Filmmaker Mike Flanagan has written some dark, disturbing endings in his career… but we shouldn’t expect to see much of that from him in the future. During a recent interview with actress Katee Sackhoff for the Sackhoff Show podcast, Flanagan explained why he’s done with bleak, hopeless endings.
Flanagan told Sackhoff (with thanks to Cbr for the transcription), “A lot of the stuff I was writing had really bleak endings and very hopeless endings. It pivots right after [Hill House] and everything I’ve done since then doesn’t have that.” Sackhoff asked if that’s the influence of his wife Kate Siegel coming through, and Flanagan said, “I think in a lot of ways it is. Hulu is giving Shark Week a run for its money this July with not one but seven National Geographic specials dropping on the streaming service at the start of the month. From Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie to Baby Sharks in the City, there are plenty of options for fans of these fearsome finned creatures.
Hulu also has a couple of fun offerings for adult animation fans with the full second season of Marvel’s Hit Monkey dropping on July 15 and Futurama returning for its 12th season on July 29th.
There’s not really anything notable in the way of original movies on Hulu this month, but Aliens, Step Brothers, and (500) Days of Summer are just a few of the noteworthy movies joining the library.
Here’s everything that’s coming to (and leaving) Hulu in July.

Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger has become one of the classic films in the action and sci-fi genres. The film kicked off a major franchise and also resulted in a crossover franchise introducing Xenomorphs from the Alien films and Predators in the same universe. The first film, made on a $15 million budget, went on to gross $98.3 million and further solidified Schwarzenegger’s status as an A-list action star in Hollywood.

The upcoming film The Life of Chuck is the latest Stephen King adaptation from Mike Flanagan, who has previously been at the helm of the Stephen King adaptations Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep (and is also developing a series adaptation of The Dark Tower for Amazon Studios) – but it is not a horror movie. We’ve previously heard cast member David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil) describe the film as a beautiful, heartfelt drama – and now Dastmalchian’s co-star Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) has told Movieweb that The Life of Chuck is a beautiful masterpiece.
Based on the short story from King’s 2020 anthology If It Bleeds, The Life of Chuck consists of three separate stories linked to tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse, beginning with his death from a brain tumor and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.

Elle Fanning is going from great to bad. The actor known for The Great is in talks to star in Badlands, a new movie set in The Predator universe, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The Badlands is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the filmmaker who revamped the franchise with the 20th Century and Hulu feature Prey, which was set in 1719 and starred breakout Amber Midthunder as a young Comanche woman pitted against an alien hunter. The film was a critical success and broke viewing records for Hulu.
Trachtenberg reteamed with Prey scribe Patrick Aison for the Badlands story, with Aison penning the script. THR reported in February that in addition to Badlands, 20th Century has a number of Predator projects in development, with Trachtenberg at the center of a growing universe. 20th Century had no comment.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the one great love and the only 3 words in the world to trump anything in its path. As such, the story of Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr., the rage, and the charisma of the MCU’s origin point were all products of exciting times in the movie industry. Iron Man 3 director Shane Black initially pursued an acting career before he became a renowned screenwriter and director in Hollywood, just like Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. Before he directed the fourth movie in The Predator series, little did fans know that he had an acting role in the first movie alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was during this time that he sold the script for the classic buddy cop movie Lethal Weapon.

As George Miller’s oil and blood-fuelled Furiosa hits the screens, we ponder what makes a great prequel.
Mild spoilers for The First Omen.
There are a lot of bad prequels. There are some good prequels, but a great prequel is a rare thing to come across. They’re like a rare animal, the unicorns of cinema. Some wonder if such a thing even exists, but when you do watch one, it’s really rather something.
George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga might just be one, a prequel which somehow manages to justify its existence and repeat the exhilarating sense of time and place as Mad Max: Fury Road. I’d be surprised if we saw another action film as handsomely made as Furiosa in 2024. Or 2025. Or 2026.
Prequels are an easy sell for studios, but a hard sell for audiences. For studios, they’re an easy way...

“Everyone knows who Jason is. Everyone can point out The Predator. And, of course, everyone’s familiar with the Ghostbusters!”
So says Jared Gerritzen, Chief Creative Officer at IllFonic, as we sit down for a quick interview with him on Discord. He’s certainly an authoritative voice on this matter too, given that he’s worked on adaptations for each of those cherished properties over the years, giving them all the asymmetrical multiplayer treatment that his development studio has got down to a fine art by now.
He continues: “And that means that people have pre-conceived notions of what those franchises should be. I guess what I’m saying is that they come with the burden of expectation, as you’ve got to [appease] fans of every individual movie or comic-book, regardless of their varying degrees of quality.”
Yet Gerritzen seems less wary of any such purism when it comes to IllFonic’s latest release.

Just over a year ago, the Peacock streaming service announced they were teaming up with genre filmmaker James Wan for a series adaptation of the 1988 bestseller Stinger, written by Robert R. McCammon (pick up a copy Here) – and even at the time, it was clear that they wouldn’t be keeping the Stinger title, because the show was being referred to as the Untitled Ian McCulloch Project, since Yellowstone consulting producer Ian McCulloch was on board to write and executive produce the show. The project is now going by the title Teacup, and not only has Peacock given it a straight-to-series order (allowing it to bypass the usual pilot process), but Deadline reports that Yvonne Strahovski, whose credits include Chuck, The Predator, The Handmaid’s Tale, Stateless, Dexter, The Tomorrow War, and He’s Out There, has signed on to play the series regular role of Maggie Chenoweth. Strahovski will also be a producer on the show.

Yvonne Strahovski has been tapped for the lead role in the upcoming Peacock series “Teacup.”
Described as a horror thriller, “Teacup” hails from writer Ian McCulloch with James Wan and Atomic Monster attached to executive produce.
Inspired by the Robert McCammon novel “Stinger,” the series is said to follow “a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.” Strahovski will star as Maggie Chenoweth.
Strahovski has received two Emmy Award nominations for her work on Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” on which she has starred as Serena Joy Waterford since the show began. The sixth and final season is expected to air in 2025. Strahovski is also known for shows like “Stateless” and “Dexter” and for films like “The Predator” and “The Tomorrow War.”
She is repped by Paradigm, Afa Prime Talent Media, R&cpmk, and Gretchen Rush.

Predator’s journey from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic 1987 sci-fi action film to a successful Hollywood franchise has been remarkable. Dan Trachtenberg’s 2022 Oscar-nominated installment, Prey, starring Amber Midthunder, has been considered one of the franchise’s best films from its inception, and its success quickly led to the announcement of a sequel.
A still from Predator
And recent reports have revealed another upcoming project under the franchise, helmed by Trachtenberg. However, the movie is set to feature a significant deviation from the franchise’s established formula, as, unlike its predecessors, it will reportedly be set in the future.

"Prey" was one of the most pleasant surprises of 2022. The film revived the "Predator" franchise after several years in a much-needed timeout following the disappointment that was Shane Black's "The Predator." In fairness, it seems Black signed up to make a different movie than the one we got, but that's neither here nor there. What's important is that director Dan Trachtenberg delivered the goods with his battle between the alien hunter and some unsuspecting Comanche in the 1700s. Now, at long last, Disney has confirmed that a sequel is coming. And, if there is justice in the world, it will be coming to a theater near you.
Very little has been revealed, although Trachtenberg is once again co-writing and directing a movie in the franchise called "Badlands." It will not be a direct sequel to "Prey" and, instead, will be taking us into the future to follow a different...

Following the success of Prey, Dan Trachtenberg is returning to direct another Predator film: Badlands, this time set in the future.
Following the wibbly-wobbly mess that was 2018’s The Predator, 20th Century Studios regained its footing with Prey in 2022. Starring Amber Midthunder, it was a back-to-basics approach to the Predator franchise – set in 1719, it told the simple story of Native Americans versus colossal alien big-game hunter.
Director Dan Trachtenberg clearly enjoyed the experience, since he’s signed up to make another Predator film. It won’t be a direct sequel to Prey, however; called Badlands, it is, according to The Hollywood Reporter, set “sometime in the future” and will also feature a female lead. (It’d be amazing if it was Sissy Spacek.)
This initially left us thinking about Predators hunting their human quarry among flying cars and jet packs, until we remembered that 1990’s Predator 2 was set in...
