My Big Fat Fabulous Life celeb Whitney Way Thore has a way of creating drama online that is just as spicy as the drama captured in TLC scenes, if not more. Recently, the TLC celeb provoked fans in a big way. So, what did she have to say this time around?
My Big Fat Fabulous Life: Whitney Way Thore Put Big Target On Her Back
When you are the star of your own TLC reality show, you may get all the glory, but, you also get all of the hate. In Whitney Way Thore’s case, she fully embraces both the fame and the notoriety in a big way. This often means that she is the target of fan backlash online.
This is one area that certainly keeps fans amused. In addition to whatever drama goes on in My Big Fat Fabulous Life scenes, there is a lot more drama that happens online as well.

Well, it’s been a while since the writers have given us quite so much in one episode, but Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 6 proved that they’ve still got it.
For a while, it’s felt as if the show wanted to play it safe, opting for easily resolved storylines with happy endings.
All that went down the drain with this latest installment, and as happy as I am about the drama of it all, it means we need to prepare for some heartbreak.
(Disney/Anne Marie Fox)
Tonight marked an exciting cast change as Sophia Bush made her first appearance as Dr. Cass Beckman, a trauma surgeon who works at Seattle Presbyterian.
The episode opens with an awkward date night between Teddy and Owen, who recently decided to make more of an effort to repair their marriage.
But despite scheduling sex and getting dressed up for a nice restaurant,...

Confessions have a way of bubbling out of you when you least expect it sometimes, something 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 6 highlighted throughout an overly busy hour.
We may be a third of the way into the season, but we’re just getting started in many ways because this was the first hour that really explored the personal lives of Maddie, Chimney, Buck, and Eddie.
To say the results will be the source of A Lot of debate would be putting it very, very mildly.
(Disney/Mike Taing)
The decision over the past two seasons to start with a three-part opening emergency has meant that the action has been at the forefront, alongside some good character work for Bobby and Athena, who are the captains of this ship.
And while subsequent hours dove into Hen and Karen’s family, there wasn’t any movement on Eddie’s residual storyline from last season.

My Big Fat Fabulous Life star Whitney Way Thore seems to look very different on social media from what TLC fans see on the show. Does she use a lot of filters? She sometimes claims that she doesn’t, but at the same time, sometimes, she admits that she does. Read on to find out what fans think.
Whitney Way Thore & Weight Loss
TLC fans know that the premise of the show is about how it’s okay to be larger than average. If that’s the case, then naturally critics wonder why Hunter Thore’s sister would use a filter. Sometimes, Whitney acts out on social media. Remember when she went on a binge of sharing reels of herself eating? Why would she do that? it’s hardly inspirational stuff, after all.
Whitney Way Thore also sometimes goes on and on about hunting for a man. Then, she might post something about animals,...

There will be no chilling out or calming down on NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 5. Someone has made the dire mistake of getting Mike Franks worked up in a bad way.
Long-time fans of the franchise are likely well aware of Mike’s gun-happy status, or “gun-ho” as it’s sometimes referred to. Get ready for a barrel-full.
Since the start of NCIS: Origins, the main focus has been on Gibbs and his struggle with losing his family. We’ve seen how the weight has taken its toll and broken his soul.
(Sonja Flemming/CBS)
However, Gibbs isn’t the only NCIS character who gets a younger, shinier version of themselves. Then again, not every viewer has been so on board with the Gibbs casting.

Look, obviously the big news this November is the U.S. presidential election.
But for the moments when you want to look away from wall-to-wall coverage (or just stop doomscrolling), Netflix has plenty to keep you occupied. There’s new original Christmas movies like “Hot Frosty” and “The Merry Gentlemen,” as well as more “Outer Banks” for fans of that show created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke. Plus Oscar contenders like “Emilia Perez” are now streaming on the service. But all of that is just preamble to our No. 1 pick this month, because when Mike Schur has a new television show, it’s time to pay attention.
Top Pick: “A Man on the Inside”
Created by Schur and loosely based on the 2020 documentary “The Mole Agent,” the eight-episode comedy series will star Ted Danson, who volunteers to help a private detective by going undercover at a nursing...

Exclusive: Jessica Lange’s talent as an actor has been celebrated with two Oscars, three Emmys, a Tony, and numerous other awards. But it’s her gift in a different area of the arts – photography – that will be explored in an upcoming documentary.
Cinergistik has announced production on Jessica Lange: Something About the Light, to begin filming this summer in Mexico, New York City, and along U.S. Highway 61, the north-south highway that extends into Minnesota where Lange grew up.
Benjamin Alfonsi is directing and will produce along with Ken Siman of Cinergistik. The documentary will invite viewers on “a deeply personal journey through the worlds Lange has captured with her Leica M6 camera during her more than twenty-year career in photography,” according to a release about the project. “Something About the Light will take a nuanced, highly original approach in translating Lange’s photographic oeuvre for the screen.”

Updated with teaser trailer for Whitney Houston in Focus below. Exclusive: The estate of Whitney Houston has resolved its concerns about the documentary Whitney Houston in Focus and is now throwing full support behind the film.
The 34-minute film directed by Benjamin Alfonsi is set to hold its world premiere next month at Doc NYC. The doc is centered on the recollections of photographer Bette Marshall who did multiple photo shoots with the young singer between 1982-86, the period Houston went from unknown to worldwide sensation. When Deadline first reported about the nascent film in December 2021, the estate told us it was upset over the project and hadn’t been consulted about it.
Seeing the finished film apparently dispelled any lingering qualms. Pat Houston, executor of the late singer’s estate, president of Whitney Houston Enterprises and Whitney’s former manager, called the documentary “an amazing story,” according to a release about the film.

As long as pop culture has existed, so too has the concept of the “It Girl.” Throughout history, a select few women have captured the attention and desire of mainstream audiences with this iconic combination of talent, charisma, and opportunity.
The phrase “It Girl” isn’t as common in the modern lexicon, but the idea behind the term is as prevalent as ever.
What qualities create an ‘It Girl’?
It can be hard to define what an It Girl is. Like any notion of cool, it’s based more on an instinctive feeling more than any rational thought. You know it when you see it.
An It Girl can come from any sector of the entertainment industry. She can be a flourishing actress (Zendaya and Florence Pugh), model (the Hadid sisters), musician (Rihanna), or the representation of a burgeoning cultural scene.
Each of these women have their own sensibilities and talents.

Three of the five Oscar nominees for Best Sound won at the Golden Reel Awards bestowed by the Motion Picture Sound Editors (Mpse) on February 26 . The Oscar frontrunner, “Top Gun: Maverick,” picked up the prize for sound effects and foley while “Elvis” danced off with the music award and “All Quiet on the Western Front” claimed the foreign language trophy.
The other two Oscar nominees — “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “The Batman”– contended in sound effects and foley and the latter also vyed in dialogue/Adr. That latter award went to “The Banshees of Inisherin,” which was snubbed by the sound branch of the academy.
The upcoming Oscars mark the third year for the new Best Sound category, which combines Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing. There can be up to six nominees from a film: one production sound mixer, two supervising sound editors and three re-recording mixers.

Studios that utilized theaters to boost PVOD prospects saw their efforts pay off this week. The 19.99 “Plane” (Lionsgate) and “M3GAN” (Universal) lead the VOD charts, followed by Christmas titles “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” (Universal/24.99) and “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody” (Sony/19.99). With studios recouping 14 or more from each transaction, that’s a bonanza — especially with three of those films still in the box office top 10. Synergy at last!
“Plane” is #1 on iTunes and Vudu, #2 on Google Play, with the order reversed for “M3GAN.” “Puss” is #3 on Google Play, fourth on the others. “Whitney,” new this week, is #3 on Vudu and #7 on iTunes. It has yet to chart at Google Play (which often lags), but perhaps it isn’t helped by the site listing it as a “documentary.” “Triangle of Sadness” (Neon/6.99) took the #3 spot at iTunes.

Heading into the 2023 Grammy Awards Sunday night, Beyoncé was our odds-on favorite to win Album of the Year for her critically acclaimed disc “Renaissance.” The evening’s host, Trevor Noah, even gushed over her awards supremacy throughout the evening, at some points making Queen B herself look a bit uncomfortable. She did take home four trophies, making her the biggest Grammy winner of all time with 33, but lost the night’s biggest prize to Harry Styles‘ “Harry’s House.”
It was a ceremony filled with surprises — Lizzo took down Adele and Styles to win Record of the Year for her smash “About Damn Time.” Perhaps nobody was more shocked on the night than Bonnie Raitt, who won Song of the Year for “Just Like That.” Had Beyoncé won Album of the Year, she would have become just the fourth Black woman to achieve this feat, and the first in 24 years.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards are set to be telecast live, February 5, on CBS, with Beyonce leading the way with nine nominations for her critically acclaimed album, “Renaissance.” While many consider Queen B the clear frontrunner to take the evening’s top prize, Album of the Year, it is worth examining the terrible track record the Grammy Awards have had with women of color.
As main album artists, Black women make up around 10 percent of all Album of the Year nominees in the 64-year history of music’s most prestigious event. Of those nominees, only three women were able to pull off a win (less than five-percent of all winners). So while Beyonce may be leading on our Gold Derby racetrack, I can’t help but wonder if we’ll see a repeat of her 2017 loss for “Lemonade,” where she was heavily favored but still lost to Adele (“25”).

Avatar: The Way of Water is a powerhouse.
James Cameron’s tentpole is expected to finish the long New Year’s weekend with an estimated 444.4 million domestically, well ahead of the first Avatar, which finished the year-end holidays with 352 million on its way to earning north of 750 million domestically. The 2009 film still ranks as the top-grossing movie of all time globally with 2.92 billion in ticket sales, including rereleases.
Avatar: The Way of Water will cross 1.4 billion in worldwide ticket sales on Monday after sprinting past the 1.37 billion mark on Sunday (Imax accounts for a huge 152.2 million of the gross, the fourth-best showing of all time for the large-format exhibitor). The pricey tentpole is already among the 15 biggest films of all time, not adjusted for inflation.

Tuesday Am: Final 4-day holiday numbers 20th Century Studios/Disney’s Avatar: The Way of Water came in with 95.5M in its second 4-day weekend. Global is nearing 1 billion. Nancy will have more on that soon.
That 4-day weekend is just under that of Rogue One‘s 4-day second weekend of 96.1M, the last time Christmas fell on a Sunday in 2016. Monday’s 31.5M is just under that of the Star Wars prequel too which made 32M. Total stateside cume of 293.2M is 26 ahead of the original Avatar‘s first 11 days in 2009. That movie crossed the 400M threshold on its 23rd day of release. Many wonder if Avatar 2 hits that mark as soon as New Year’s weekend.
Meanwhile, Avatar 2 has now earned 105.5M in IMAX global box office in less than two weeks — the fastest film to hit the 100M mark in IMAX since April 2019. James Cameron...

With the Christmas & Hannukah holiday’s officially over, we can finally return our focus to what matters most: box office numbers! And, to put it bluntly, unless you were the sequel to the highest grossing movie of all time, it wasn’t a great weekend for you!
As expected Avatar: The Way of Water came in first place with an estimated 3-day take of 64 million with some seeing the 4-day haul as high as 100 million. The film seems to have had solid Christmas Day numbers at just over 29 million, making it the fourth best Christmas day take ever. The sequel has also played to excellent weekday numbers, and this second weekend take is actually quite excellent! What does this all mean? Well, last week when the film came in pretty strongly under even the most modest of predictions, some people were sounding the alarms. But those numbers didn’t represent...

In 1985 Whitney Houston took the music world by storm with her record-setting self-titled debut album. The diamond-certified release included three Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers: “Saving All My Love For You,” “How Will I Know” and “Greatest Love of All.” Two years later, with a sophomore disc simply titled “Whitney,” she became the first woman to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. Four more number ones – “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “So Emotional” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” made her the first artist (and only to this day) to have seven consecutive number one singles.

‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ Review: A Basic Whitney Houston Biopic Sets Her Wikipedia Page to Song
A music biopic so broad and hacky it makes “Jersey Boys” seem like “All that Jazz,” Kasi Lemmons’ well-acted but laughably trite “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody” is an anonymous portrait of a singular artist — a by-the-numbers “Behind the Music” episode that needs 146 minutes to say almost nothing about a once-in-a-lifetime voice. Not even “Bohemian Rhapsody” was so obviously written by the guy who wrote “Bohemian Rhapsody,” as Anthony McCarten’s algorithmic script
Here’s young Whitney as a choir soloist at the New Jersey church where she discovers her love for music. There she is at Arista Records’ HQ listening to the demo track for her future hit single, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”. Once her career takes off, the rest of her life is reduced to a diminishingly unsophisticated series of reactions to whatever happened in the previous scene, which doesn’t express Houston’s struggle...

Naomi Ackie is excellent in the title role and the film delivers all the singer’s big hits, but it swerves the difficult questions
Whitney Houston has already been the subject of two startling and effectively competing documentaries: Nick Broomfield’s Whitney: Can I Be Me? from 2017 and Kevin Macdonald’s Whitney, which was released a year later. Each in its own way was hamstrung by legal issues and family pressure, although Broomfield’s was perhaps the more judicious and insightful. Now here is a music biopic on very traditional lines from screenwriter Anthony McCarten and director Kasi Lemmons: a smoothly watchable and well performed piece of work. It is almost a 144-minute narrative montage, and very avoidant on key issues – seemingly deferring to everyone who is still alive and suing.

Naomi Ackie in Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody Image: Emily Aragones The grim downward spiral of musical megastars is, sadly, a path too well trodden. The small-town artist with staggering talent. The euphoric big break. The pressure from the tabloids. The sinister, money-grubbing manager. The tumble into substance abuse.

Olly Murs has responded to criticism of the “cruel” lyrics to his new song “I Hate You When You’re Drunk”.
Last month, the singer released his new single from his album Marry Me.
However, the lyrics were quickly dissected online, with critics suggesting that the song showed Murs attempting to humiliate a loved one for getting drunk and that the words were “misogynistic”.
While Murs’s fiancée Amelia Tank defended the former X Factor finalist, he has now responded to his critics while appearing on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday (6 December).
“I mean, it’s obviously upsetting to think that people took it that way because it was not that intention,” Murs told hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent. “It was a song that I really related to in the studio when it was a song that was [written] eight years ago.”

Founded by Oscar-winning “Man on Wire” producer Simon Chinn and Emmy winner Jonathan Chinn, high-end documentary producer Lightbox is navigating the next phase of its evolution, and exiting one of the key initiatives that helped the transatlantic company set up shop.
Variety can reveal that the London- and Los Angeles-based outfit is buying back its shares and leaving U.K. broadcaster Channel 4’s Indie Growth Fund (Igf), which invests in British production companies by taking minority stakes to help them grow. Lightbox is now fully independent, and plans to remain so “for the short term” before considering a sale in the future.
Since accepting the Channel 4 investment in 2014, the “Whitney” producer has more than tripled in size, growing from a £4-million to £13-million turnover company, and establishing itself as a bona fide U.S.-U.K. player specializing in high-end documentaries for streaming services and premium cablers.

President Trump has claimed that he alone — not Barack Obama or other past presidents — has called “virtually” all families of U.S. soldiers who have died in service since Trump took office in January.
But Gold Star families have since lashed out at Trump over his false claims about past presidents, recalling how they were comforted by Obama and former President George W. Bush as they grieved. Trump was soon forced to walk back what Obama aides called an “outrageous lie,” admitting that his predecessor “probably sometimes and maybe sometimes he didn’t. I don’t know.”

One year ago, veteran documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield realized that something was wrong. He was about three months into postproduction on Whitney: Can I Be Me, his new documentary on the life and death of Whitney Houston – and sitting in his editing room, he found himself "in complete despair." In its rough state, the movie was primarily a compendium of experts and talking heads opining about the singer's influence and legacy – a "journalistic report" as Broomfield calls it. But, he notes, "I wasn't feeling my heart moved by the story.

Nick Broomfield’s Whitney Houston documentary is an engrossing and compassionate portrait of a supremely talented singer racked by self doubt
Nick Broomfield’s documentary portrait of Whitney Houston shows once again that her climactic “I” in I Will Always Love You is one of the most amazing moments in pop music: a sustained blazing siren of euphoric self-affirmation. That song became the keynote of her smash-hit movie The Bodyguard in 1992 with Kevin Costner, and sealed her global megastar triumph. (Much stronger, for me, than Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On from Titanic.)
Whitney’s hurricane-force “I” all but blitzes the song’s meaning, which I only fully appreciated on listening to Dolly Parton’s considerably more muted and melancholy self-penned original from 1973. The singer is of course renouncing her claim on the loved one. But the way Houston belts it out, she is owning everything and anything.

Once a blockbuster staple, the power ballad was the ultimate movie accompaniment. We look back at some of the classics...
For a glorious period from the mid-80s throughout the 90s, the biggest summer blockbusters were only worth their salt if they had an equally gargantuan song at the head their soundtrack. I’m not going to kvetch about American Idol failing to reward one of its dozens of worthy grads with a Thursday-night performance slot — there are only six weeks left, after all! — and instead using it to promote the doing-just-fine-already former X Factor judge Demi Lovato.

If Agent Carter isn't renewed for season 3, at least the season 2 finale provides a satisfying ending...
This review contains spoilers.
2.10 Hollywood Ending
Well, it’s fair to say that didn’t disappoint. It’s safe to say I didn’t get everything I wanted – Dottie to come back, for instance – but other than that it’s hard to be upset about anything in this episode. This series has really been more about the characters than the plot, and pretty much everyone’s been through the wringer by the time the episode ends. Predictably, not everyone survived, but it’s safe to say that the death wasn’t at all expected.
But first things first. If anyone’s fate bothers me here, it’s Jason Wilkes’. Whether or not we believe that he was being influenced by Zero Matter (and the show never quite convinced me he was...

We'll miss you, Chad Michael Murray. We will not, however, miss Agent Carter, because it's coming back. It has to. We refuse to go on living our lives without knowing Peggy Carter's returning to us. Tonight's season two finale closed things up in La for the most part, with Peggy (Hayley Atwell) and the gang opening up their own rift to get rid of the zero matter that had transferred itself over to Whitney when it exploded at the end of last week's episode. The rift got a bit hairy for a minute, but the zero matter was safely gotten rid of and the rift closed, with the help of Stark's poor hovercar. Everyone was preparing to head back to New...

Agent Carter is nearing the end of its second — and, I fear, final — season. After tonight's double feature, there's only one episode to go, and last year's already modest ratings have only gone down in season 2. (And may, along with the renewals of the similarly low-rated Galavant and American Crime, have played a role in last week's ouster of ABC boss Paul Lee.) Maaaaaaybe Marvel convinces their other TV partners over at Netflix to pick it up(*), though Daredevil and Jessica Jones are a lot more graphic and "mature" than what Agent Carter is aiming for. (*) Weirdly, season 1 of the show isn't available...
