In one scene, Ghidorah rises up from Rodan's volcano and delivers a terrifyingly loud roar, striking a dramatic pose as the background shows a cross and the sky is hellish. The whole concept is highly reminiscent of Satan rising from Hell in the Book of Revelation, and it can be extremely frightening and disturbing for some viewers.
This film is darker than most other "Godzilla" films, what with it having the look and feel of an apocalyptic film by featuring lots and lots of mass destruction, collateral damage and extreme mayhem, lots of civilian casualties and monster violence, and an almost oppressive and foreboding tone.
The sacrifice of Dr. Serizawa to revive Godzilla may be sad and emotional to some viewers.
Recreations of Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah may scare some. Also expected destruction and peril, and a devastating (but unexplicit) body count from the monsters.
