The film takes place in the fictional town of Bailey Downs, which is where the "Ginger Snaps" films take place, as well as the name of the suburb where the Allison clone in the Orphan Black (2013) television series takes place. This was intentional, as the filmmakers were responsible for the Ginger Snaps films, and Director John Fawcett is one of the creators of "Orphan Black".
During the closing credit it is stated that "No elves were harmed in the making of this film."
Shatner's mug features a picture of Kuddle Kat from episode six of Darknet (2013), written by James Kee, who also wrote the "Krampus In The Woods" story line of "A Christmas Horror Story".
Re-titled "A Holiday Horror Story" for sale at some U.S. Walmart stores, but the title change was only made for the outside slip cover of copies and not the actual print of the film.
The end credits features a scene which DJ Dan doing a phone in session.
