Liv and Maddie is surprisingly good. I was expecting an OK show that was somewhat entertaining, instead it is a show that has charm, great comedic timing and is pretty darn adorable. The lead actress who plays both the twins (Dove Cameron) is extremely talented and also has a beautiful voice. She captures the viewers attention and is definitely the star of the show.
Most of the episodes have been strong too with only the occasional weak one. Always a bonus with kids shows as they can be hit and miss. Out of all the Disney shows on air at the moment this is definitely the one I would recommend you watch. It's perfect light, funny entertainment and you can't help but smile when you watch it.

Disney seems to have entered another 'dark age' with its sitcoms. Bland shows that last for 2 seasons tops, low ratings and a lack of fresh ideas.
Liz and Maddie seems to be the last good sitcom this channel had. (Not saying that the shows that aired alongside liv and Maddie were good, but live and Maddie on its own was the last good show.)
Dove Cameron plays both roles really well, and the acting from others is fine as well. Some characters can be written annoying such as Joey, but they have lots of charm. Least favorite character was that friend Maddie has, think name was willow or something. Jokes are more hit and miss than I like, but they do hit.
Biggest problem seems to be that it doesn't have the quality the older Disney sitcoms have. And most of those weren't even that great! If it didn't air on Disney Channel, but on Fox or another cable network as a family friendly sitcom, the show would get a 4. I'm just happy that this show was good at the time it aired.

Another IMDb User called "Dog With a Blog" "The Brady Bunch" meets Mister Ed," or something to that effect. Likewise, "Liv and Maddie" is a new version of "The Patty Duke Show." Not "Double Trouble," "Sister-Sister," or "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," and it's spin-off series. In those twin-coms, the main characters were played by real twins. In fact, in an interview, Dove acknowledged the connection, and said she would love to see Patty Duke have a guest appearance on the show.
Some of you already know the story; Teenage actress Liv Rooney has just finished the final season of a sitcom called "Sing It Loud!," and returns home to her family in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, including her Twin sister Maddie both of which are played by Dove Cameron. While Liv is a star on the small screen, Maddie is the high school basketball star. The other family members include nerdy brother Joey Rooney (Joey Bragg), diabolical little brother Parker Rooney (Tenzing Norgay Trainor), school psychologist Karen Rooney (Kali Rocha), and high school basketball coach Pete Rooney (Benjamin King). Many of the episodes involve Liv's attempts to adjust to a normal high school life.
Liv Rooney, is the definition of girly-girl to the extreme. Combine Ann Marie with Quinn Morgendorffer, and jack the girliness of the two of them up past ten, and you've got Liv. Maddie is supposed to be the tomboy, but not much of one. Maddie's teammates include a girl named "Stains" played by ex-So Random player Bridget Shergalis, and Willow (Jessica Marie Garcia) who has a gigantic unrequited crush on Joey. The show also gives credit to Cameron's body doubles, something which as far as I know, the producers of The Patty Duke Show never did (although I could be wrong).
As Liv, Dove Cameron is an unbelievably fantastic singer; Way better than Laura Marano, and she's amazing herself. Therefore she was a terrific choice not only for the starring role, but the show within the show. But the true measure of her skills as an actress can be found in the episode "Skate-A-Rooney," where we meet Liv's brain dead skater-dude of a boyfriend who dumps her in a text message. One viewing of a crucial scene from the episode, and you will know the definition of a broken songbird.
Later episodes deal with Liv being sought out for the role of the hero of a graphic novel series about a Space Werewolf (No, I didn't make that up), who would be better off played by a 28-45 year old man than a teenage girl. Normally, casting a 16-year-old diva girl like Liv Rooney in the starring role would make John Wayne playing Genghis Khan look like casting Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi. Yet Hollywood chooses her anyhow, and she actually looks good as the hero. Meanwhile Maddie has to try to deal with her feelings towards another Jock at school best known as "Diggie," played by Cameron's real-life boyfriend Ryan McCartan. Mainly, they involve Maddie's willingness to admit to everyone else that Diggie is her boyfriend, something that comes to a head when an ex-cast member of Liv's old sitcom flirts with Diggie, even as Maddie is about to leave town to join the Junior Olympic Basketball Team.
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the season finale. From what I gather of the promos, it looks triumphant, and I mean that in the traditional sense of the word.

Dove Cameron, playing two major roles in this split-camera show, delivers an endearing feel to the Disney Channel. Liv, who is musically enhanced, shows off her witty side from being in her own television program. The only part that I find unappealing about this character is that Liv plays too much into being in "celebrity mode". Maddie, an ordinary high school athlete, brings in situations some teenagers may face and relate to. Despite their characters' differences, the twin sisters bond together to solve problems. In the end, sticking together as family is key. Some aspects from past Disney Channel shows take place here as well. The obvious would be from the "Suite Life" series which featured real twins, Cole and Dylan Sprouse. The confessionals originating from "Lizzie McGuire" are also added to restate what is going on in Liv and Maddie's minds about the problems they are facing.
As for the comedy factor, it's just bad. The jokes are stale and most of the time, the laugh tracks do not make it any better. However, this show is considered a gem compared to Jessie or A.N.T. Farm. How many people can relate to living in a rich Manhattan penthouse suite or elementary school students in a high school (then transferred away from their parents to a specialized facility)?
EDIT (9/26/13): As of recently, this series has been lukewarm, featuring the warmheartedness of family from Liv, and the crazy antics of Liv and Maddie's two brothers. I will continue to enjoy this as the season progresses.

I have to say I was not expecting to fall in love with this show like I did. Dove camron did an amazing job playing both liv and Maddie, two completely different characters. The supporting characters are amazing as well. I loved this show so much I actually cried on the series finale. Great job Disney.
This is a good show, definitely the most appropriate Disney show yet, and the only one that's completely worry-free. Unfortunately, the new episodes aren't that enjoyable. In Season 1, it was seemingly like the version of Good Luck Charlie I actually enjoy (was never a huge fan of Good Luck Charlie). Now in Season 2, it's starting to fall apart with more unrealisticness, nasty moments, etc. so that cost the show 2 stars for me. The show also loses 2 stars for Benjamin King (the dad)'s inability to effectively act - his expressions may change, but the tone of his voice is always "bored." The expressions just don't meet the tone of his voice. But Dove Cameron's noteworthy charisma never leaves me hanging.

I think this show is very good, the best show produced by Disney channel in a while actually. I like the idea of the two twins being complete opposites of each other and have to teach each other how to survive in each others company. I also think that is very clever that both twins are played by Dove Cameron, who by the way is an extremely talented singer and actress as she is able to play both Liv&Maddie who are both complete opposites. Disney hid the twin thing so well that for a while i thought they were played by 2 actual twins. I also like the other family members like joey, parker, the mom and the dad. I especially think the 2 parents are hilarious! However, the one thing i don't understand is that Liv,Maddie and the parents are all white but Joey is Mediterranean and Parker is Asian and there is no mention of them being adopted. The cast is: Dove Cameron as Liv&Maddie Rooney, Joey Bragg as Joey Parker, Tenzing Trainor as Parker Rooney, Kali Roacha as Karen Rooney and Benjamin King as the dad.

Liv and Maddie started out as a show I really liked, it was funny, creative, and just enjoyable.
But I find no reason to watch it now, it lost the touch that the first season had

This show is Disney at its lowest. We all know not to expect too much from a Disney Channel series, but where "Good Luck, Charlie" was saved by better-than-usual writing, and an extremely likable cast led by Leigh-Allyn Baker, and Jason Dolley; "Liv and Maddie" has neither. And for some inexplicable reason, the youngest son is Tibetan, with skin five shades darker than his parents and siblings.
It's an awful show, filled with writers who are sleepwalking through their jobs, built-in ain't-gonna-catch-on phrases (like the "Bam! What?" spouted by the sports-loving Maddie), terribly cast parents, and the conceit of having the characters have a few moments of alone time talking directly to the camera ala Woody Allen films. It's just plain horrible. The best part (and that's saying A LOT) of the show is the elder brother who doesn't totally stink. His nerdy role is a dime a dozen, of course, but he could grow into the role and turn out to be the only reason to tune in.
For a bar that's pretty low to begin with, how Disney couldn't pass over it without stumbling awfully is pretty darn remarkable. Remarkably horrid.

First, I must say, I am Disney Obsessed. I'm 20 years old, and after watching the channel with my little sister, I got hooked on it. From the good as in Good Luck Charlie to the iffy but alright shows like Shake It Up. What can I say, I'm a kid at heart :)
Anyway! Liv and Maddie is a pretty good new show! The pilot was awesome, the episodes after varied between just as good to alright. My least favorite was the one with Liv in the "smart Olympics". I'm sure the series will only get better though. Dove is a beautiful and talented actress in my opinion, and she's doing a good job playing two completely different girls. Also her singing is beautiful, but I digress. The little brother is kind of annoying, but the rest of the family is funny. And Maddie's friend Willow is funny as heck!
All in all, it's not perfect but its definitely worth watching!! I have hope for it and I think it's a nice replacement for GLC.

The show is really just a well written success. Liv and Maddie is an American sitcom created by John Beck and Ron Hart and produced by It's a Laugh Productions for Disney Channel. It stars Dove Cameron playing identical twins. The series began production in April 2013 with a pilot episode aired on July 19, 2013.[1][2] The first promo for the series was seen on Friday, June 28, 2013, after the premiere of a Disney's Mickey Mouse Shorts.
On January 13, 2014, Disney Channel renewed Liv and Maddie for a 13-episode second season slated to premiere Fall 2014.[ ... .... JUST A REALLY COOL SHOW

This series has some of the worst characters in a television show that I have ever seen. There isn't a single character that isn't annoying, they are just plain bland and underdeveloped.

Seriously, I didn't think I'd be as hooked up as the Disney shows before. You know, Selena and Miley's time. I lost my interest in watching when the "new generations" of Disney shows (I don't even know what they're called) came. I tried to watch some episodes, but I didn't really couldn't get past one. But thank God I saw Liv and Maddie on Netflix and I thought, why not give it a try, and I couldn't be more thankful I did. Finally, A Disney SHOW that's not crappy anymore and a show that I actually love. This is like my favourite now. I'm actually thinking that this is better than Selena's or Mileey's show before. This show is funny as hellish and the same time it teaches you some lessons. There are so many scenes that are both meaningful and emotional. There are a lot of episodes where I cried, I'm not kidding. Especially the scenes between the twins. And I can't believe they're not actually twins, which makes the show better. And a really good job for Dove. She's a really amazing actress and singer. I wouldn't be surprised if one day she'd be more than what these famous singers/actresses/actors are now. Actually, in some cases she is. What I mean is that she'll be getting everything she deserves someday.
Overall, I LOVE this show and I would recommend it to everyone. I'm sure they won't regret watching this.

This show is awful! My sister and I just watched an episode where Liv steals one of Maddie's poems for a song. what was the moral in that? its okay to plagiarize as long as your family? the parents are complete idiots and the only good actor is the youngest brother. Dove Cameron is a bad actress and a bad singer. she should just go into modeling. Liv is only showing kids is that as long as you're pretty and do acting, you have every right to be a spoiled brat and treat your sister like crap and snoop into her personal life. she walks around like she hot stuff but when she goes to places no one goes up to her for pictures and there's no paparazzi following her. The oldest brother is just an untrue stereotype about gamer boys. Only relatable person on the show is Maddie. Oh yeah, and the twin thing has already been done, but both twins were actually likable!

when I saw the previews for this show all I could think was "o god not another show. "But this show actually really isn't as bad as it looks since all of the shows these days stink, you just start to learn to accept new shows. This is one of those shows.Dov Cameron does a great job playing as a role of both of the twins.(though it is disappointing that liv actually isn't real. But what I really liked about this show was that it was nothing like the new shows. It was humorous but not only that is actually has a plot in the story and they do a pretty good job entertaining you. In words this show is a entertaining and humorous show with likable characters this show deserves a 8/10.

My children and I watch Disney channel religiously and we like/love most Disney shows in the lineup. I very rarely write reviews of television shows because there is always something else to watch somewhere around the channel line up. But this show, Liv and Maddie, has to be the WORST show we have seen put out on ANY channel in awhile. But more specifically, Dove Cameron, has to be the WORST actress we've seen in a long time! The show to us is completely unwatchable. Miss Cameron's acting is atrocious! Our television will go off Disney, ANYTIME it comes on! Where is the new, Selena Gomez? Due to the lead actor is the only major issue with the show, we'll just have to wait til it's canceled. Believe me, my family is really looking forward to that day! Thanks for reading. We love Disney Channel!!!
This show is perfect. The lead is perfect. People are scared to give it credit when it's actually better than most Disney shows. Calling Austin & Ally good and saying this is bad is like calling Drake & Josh bad and saying Shake It Up was better. The lead is awesome and does a fantastic job at playing both twins and no one gives her enough credit for it. I'm glad she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award during the first season of her show. That goes to show she's actually talented. The last people who got that treatment was Bridgit and Demi. So Dove getting that nomination is Huge. The season finale was A . I feel Disney is making it look bad by playing the parody video FROYO YOLO when Dove talents is more than that. That video was a joke and they make it look real. I see a bright future for this show and lead. I just wish haters would accept it. Disney shows were horrible when it was Ant Farm, Jessie DWAB, Austin & Ally, Shake It Up on the air. Now that Liv and Maddie, Girl Meets World and the Not so good but watchable I Didn't Do It is on air people still bash it. These shows aren't that bad, give the new projects Disney is working on a chance. Watch 5 episodes and get hooked. Liv and Maddie is easily to get hooked too. The lead is beautiful, can act and sing. She has a movie coming out with Jessica Alba and Samuel L Jackson and just got done filming what is to be said the next High School Musical. It was directed by Kenny the creator and director of High School Musical! I'm so ready to see Dove the lead get bigger and hope she wins her TCA. Liv and Maddie is awesome and I'll watch it over any Disney show today. Btw I think Disney worse actress decision was Laura Marano, she's just not it and Ross Lynch isn't too good either.

This is one of the worst shows I've ever seen on Disney Channel. Compared to SUITE LIFE or THAT'S SO RAVEN or PHIL OF THE FUTURE, this show is pathetic. The actors are annoying, the jokes unfunny, and the plots predictable and bland. It just goes to show how low Disney is stooping to get viewers. They are using this Barbie to sell the glitzy, clean, bleached blonde American dream to ten-year-olds.
