Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series, Twilight of the Gods, is set to premiere on Netflix on September 19, and the streamer has now released an action-packed final trailer.
This full-length promo spotlights plenty of bloody battles, as a mortal warrior named Sigrid enlists the aid of Loki (probably not a great idea) to wage war against Thor after the vengeful God of Thunder murders her entire family.
"In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love," reads the updated synopsis. "On their wedding night, Sigrid and Leif survive a wrath of terror from Thor (Pilou Asbæk), which sets them — and a crew of crusaders — on a merciless mission for vengeance, against all odds. This heroic story of love, loss, and revenge,...

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is bringing some beloved characters back to fans, but the sequel is also introducing a few fresh faces — relatively speaking, considering they might be dead.
Once again directed by Tim Burton, the sequel takes place 30 years after the original, bringing the Deetz family back together for Charles’ death. At this point, Lydia (Winona Ryder) is fully grown with a daughter of her own, who discovers the mysterious remnants of Beetlejuice left in the attic.
We won’t spoil anything here, but we will give you a rundown of who’s who in the “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” cast and the characters they’re playing, old and new.
Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) Warner Bros.
The juice is loose yet again, and he’s played by Michael Keaton once more. Keaton is, of course, perhaps best known as Beetlejuice and Batman, but you’ll also from “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Spotlight” and “Birdman.”

Cinema has hundreds of years of history, so it’s only natural that generation after generation, certain “blind spots” emerge in different ways. Those who grew up with the classics of their time are often shocked when people decades younger have never seen a particular film or even any movie by an influential filmmaker. It’s a cinephile cycle that will endure forever – after all, if we dive too deeply into the past as if we were living it in real-time, how can we enjoy what the present has to offer? All of this to say that I watched Beetlejuice (1988) for the first time this past weekend in preparation for its sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, once again directed by Tim Burton.
With several members of the original cast returning, as well as some new faces, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice takes place 36 years after the events of the original story, with the Deetz family...

It's been more than three decades in the making, but director Tim Burton is finally back with a sequel to his 1988 classic "Beetlejuice." Thankfully, it's not in the form of "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian" or one of the other many versions that didn't actually get made over the years. Instead, Burton has reunited with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara for the aptly titled "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," which figures to be one of the biggest movies of the fall movie season. But just how big is it? Does the pandemonium continue even after the credits start rolling?
Burton isn't exactly known for franchises, to say the least. This is actually the first time he's directed a sequel to one of his own movies since 1992's "Batman Returns." So it's not like Burton is in the business of setting up things that will pay off down the road. Still, we must ask:...

It's taken 36 years but the Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, finally arrives in theaters this weekend. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton are reuniting for the movie which, as we write this, has an impressive 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Current box office estimates point to a $100 million - $110 million 3-day opening in North America and a less impressive 5-day debut of $35 million - $45 million overseas where Beetlejuice hasn't had the same cultural impact as in the U.S.
We're sure you're all intrigued to learn what's next for 'ol Betelgeuse, but should you stick around for anything extra once the credits start rolling? A Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice tease perhaps?
No, because Beetlejuice Beetlejuice does Not have a post-credits scene. Once the movie ends, that's it, no great surprise as Burton is...

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, directed by Tim Burton, marks a triumphant return to the whimsical and eerie world he first brought to life in 1988. This 2024 fantasy comedy horror film, a sequel to the original Beetlejuice, is penned by the writing team of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based on a story they co-wrote with Seth Grahame-Smith.
The film brings back beloved characters, with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara all reprising their roles from the first movie. New faces, including Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe, add fresh energy to this much-anticipated sequel. The film premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival and will be released nationwide imminently.
Years after her first encounter with the mischievous spirit, Lydia Deetz (Ryder) finds herself reluctantly drawn back into the chaotic world of the afterlife. This time, she is forced to join forces with the irreverent demon Betelgeuse (Keaton) once more.

Andy Muschietti's mega-blockbuster adaptation of "It" kicked off a new boom of Stephen King adaptations when it hit theaters in 2017, but if we were in a boom, is it safe to say we've now hit a bust? There are still tons of new King adaptations coming (I'm excited to see Osgood Perkins' take on "The Monkey" and Bryan Fuller's horned-up "Christine" update), but the massive hits have slowed down (remember "Firestarter?"), and one major adaptation, Warner Bros' "'Salem's Lot," is only now coming out after years of sitting on the shelf.
The works of Stephen King will always continue to be rich and entertaining, whether they're dominating the pop cultural zeitgeist or not. But if one title exemplifies the fickleness of the recent King adaptation boom, it's "Castle Rock," a wonderfully complicated, delightfully mysterious King-adjacent series that unceremoniously died on the vine at Hulu despite delivering two great seasons of television.

Just in time for Judgment Day, Netflix has a new installment in the “Terminator” franchise for fans of the iconic, long-running sci-fi action franchise. This time, however, you won’t see any familiar faces — the series is animated. However, you might recognize some of the voices, so we’ve put together a handy guide to the “Terminator Zero” cast.
You won’t see Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese or Arnold’s T-800 in this story — it introduces a new timeline and all new characters to go with it. Set in 1997, Japan, “Terminator Zero” focuses on a developer named Malcolm Lee, who is hard at work on another AI system to compete with Skynet and save the human race. Naturally, a Terminator unit is sent back in time to target him and his three children, while a soldier from the future is sent back with a mission of her own.

With summer nearly over, the fall movie season is almost upon us. It's certainly early but for the time being, things are looking good. September used to be a bit of a dumping ground month for studios, with that post-summer hangover setting in badly. In recent years though, things have changed. It's now become fertile ground for the right movie to break out in a big way. It very much seems like Warner Bros. and director Tim Burton have just such a movie in "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice." Well over three decades after the original "Beetlejuice" hit theaters, the long-awaited sequel is poised to become a breakout smash hit.
"Beetlejuice 2" is currently looking at an opening in the $81 to $94 million range when it hits theaters next weekend, per Box Office Theory. Warner Bros., for what it's worth, is being a little more conservative, with the studio estimating a debut in the $65 to $75 million range,...

Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award winning Beetlejuice.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was the opening film at this year’s Venice Film Festival and the sequel had a four minute standing ovation.
“There are so few opportunities to be in something that you can say is 100% original and unique,” said Keaton, who joked about his character’s evolution.
“I think my character has matured,” Keaton said. “As suave and sensitive as he was in the first, I think he’s even more so in this one.”
The early reviews are raving about the movie.
Deadline writes: “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is not clunky. Yes, there are plenty of animation joins that haven’t been smoothed over by CGI. Some of the props look like tat Burton bought in a flea market. But it also has a proper plot,...

‘Pachinko’ Review: Season 2 Is a Stunning Family Drama That Honors the Joys and Sorrows of Sacrifice
“Pachinko” has always asked a lot of its audience, but Season 2 asks even more. Right from the start, there’s a leap so massive, many shows would’ve never considered requesting it to begin with: I’m writing, of course, of the new opening title sequence. In general, such a switch isn’t unheard of. “The Leftovers” did it — twice (kind of) — and those went over swimmingly. But Damon Lindelof decided to try out a new intro because the first was far from revered (and its arduous droning would’ve set the wrong tone for a playfully bizarre sophomore season). “Pachinko’s” original credits, meanwhile, are beloved! They’re awesome! They’re so gosh darn delightful they overcame the TV Academy’s indefensible neglect in every other category and earned “Pachinko” its only Emmy nomination (for Original Main Title Design)!

Just like those Jason Dessens from all over the multiverse, the Apple TV hit Dark Matter is replicating.
Yup. The critically acclaimed science-fiction hit was recently renewed.
Now, there’s just one big catch. The first season was based entirely on Blake Crouch’s 2016 book.
(Apple TV )
Dark Matter follows Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton), a physicist, professor, and family man who quickly is abducted and becomes a captive of the multiverse.
He spends the rest of the season experiencing lives he could have lived while attempting to get back to his home world and his family.
So that means the new season, whenever it finally arrives on the streaming timetable, will have to be created out of thin air.
As viewers of modern TV are acutely aware, this venturing away from the written source material can be a hit-or-miss proposition.
Sometimes, it works.

Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. A total of 36 individuals earned their first Primetime Emmy acting nominations in 2024, including “Feud” stars Naomi Watts and Tom Hollander and recent Oscar also-rans Lily Gladstone (“Under the Bridge”) and Ryan Gosling (“Saturday Night Live”). A standout among these newbies is Paul Rudd, who is the only one in the group with shots at two performance wins: Best Comedy Supporting Actor (“Only Murders in the Building”) and Best Narrator (“Secrets of the Octopus”).
Rudd could now make Emmys history as the eighth doubly-nominated first-timer to triumph on at least one of his bids. The first to do so was Robert Cummings, who simultaneously won for “12 Angry Men” and lost for “My Hero” in 1955. He was followed by Jack Albertson, Eileen Brennan, Jane Lynch, Riz Ahmed, Ann Dowd, and Ali Wong.
Twenty-six acting Emmy newcomers (13 male and 13 female) preceded Rudd in being concurrently nominated for more than one performance. Aside from Ahmed,...

The juice is loose as the latest Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer rises from the grave to share new footage from one of 2024’s most anticipated films. Few sequels hitting screens in 2024 hold as much cache and expectation as the long-gestating follow-up to Tim Burton’s 1988 classic, Beetlejuice. Opening weekend for this movie is likely to blow the box office away, and from looking at today’s trailer, Burton is pulling out all the stops to make sure Beetlejuice Beetlejuice lives up to the legacy of the original.
Today’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer gives us a broader look at the upcoming film, with Jenna Ortega’s disaffected teen attitude on display, Burton’s signature set designs looking more elaborate than ever, and Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice giving audiences plenty of reasons to remember why he’s the Ghost with the Most. While the Best Supporting Actress Oscar is often awarded to an ingenue, like the 2022 winner Ariana DeBose (“West Side Story”), it can also be a way to reward a more seasoned performer. In 2024, Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Leftovers”) won on her first nomination A year earlier Jamie Lee Curtis had reaped her first Oscar bid at age 64 and prevailed for “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” In 2021 Youn Yuh-jung, who is renowned in her native South Korea, won at age 73 for her first English film, “Minari.” And in 2020, the academy honored past nominee Laura Dern who finally took home an Oscar for her scene-stealing performance in “Marriage Story.” (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Supporting Actress.)
While Dern was clearly a featured player in her picture, two of her rival nominees, Florence Pugh and Margot Robbie, could easily have submitted themselves in lead for their roles in “Little Women” and “Bombshell” respectively.

Exclusive: Veteran CAA television agent Ted Miller is leaving to start a global management business. He just shared the news with his colleagues. Details about his new company will be unveiled at a later date.
The exit ends a 35-year agenting career at CAA for Miller, who started in the mailroom in 1988 before becoming an assistant to agency co-founder Michael Ovitz and getting promoted to agent in 1989.
For decades, there had been a handful of TV lit-driven management companies. Over the last several years, their number more than doubled as a slew of top TV agents launched new management firms. Miller is one of the biggest names yet to make the switch.
During his tenure at CAA, he has represented top TV showrunners, producers and directors and has held a string of TV leadership positions, most recently as Head of Global Television. He also was instrumental in putting together such series as Black Mirror,...

HBO’s The Leftovers starts with 2 percent of the world’s population suddenly disappearing for reasons unexplained — and the plot just gets more bizarre from there. Created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta — and based on Perrotta’s novel of the same name — The Leftovers starred Justin Theroux, Christoper Eccleston, Carrie Coon, and Amy Brenneman, among others, as the ones left behind when the Sudden Departure strikes. The series debuted on June 29, 2014, and ran for three critically acclaimed seasons, topping critics’ year-end lists of top 10 TV shows more than 20 times. And as The Leftovers attests, there’s no telling what will happen after one of every 50 persons on this planet — and three out of four Perfect Strangers cast members — vanish into thin air. Some people want to be (non-fatally shot) in the chest. Some opt for orgies aboard ferries. And some start heralding the return of Gary Busey. Here are...

This article contains plot details from all three seasons of The Leftovers but no finale spoilers.
What is the purpose of a great TV show? Is it to make us forget about our troubles for an hour or two while the stressors and traumas of everyday life fade into the background? Should the characters on the screen give us a blueprint for our own decisions? Perhaps a good laugh or a twisty cliffhanger provides a thrill that a boring nine-to-five corporate job simply can’t.
HBO has often elevated the television viewing experience above these simple motivators, crafting stories that evoke deeper meaning and elicit emotional responses. The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones—all these famous series jolt to the top of the network’s Mount Rushmore, but perhaps one unfathomably underrated show hurdles them all, and it just turned 10 years old this week.

After The Penguin‘s Max release this year, the new change in the delineation of Max and HBO shows will come into effect from 2025. Most of the Warner Bros. IP films will essentially move under the HBO banner, including one much anticipated Dcu series under James Gunn. According to an insider report, Lanterns will now be an HBO feature and other major Dcu series projects may also follow suit.

Gunn recently announced the writing team of the series, which included DC writer Tom King, Lost creator Damon Lindelof, and Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy. Lindelof and Mundy are notably associated with several HBO projects, making the latest project even more suitable for the network.

While promoting The Leftovers ahead of its premiere in 2014, series co-creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perotta hit on one theme particularly hard: There would be no answers about the nature of the Departure, in which 2% of the world’s population disappeared without a trace. Much like the tortured characters, the audience would never learn where all those people went, nor what happened to them or why. It wasn’t hard to see this as a reaction to the infamously divisive finale of Lost — which was still getting Lindelof so much hate he left Twitter — but it was also a necessary scene setting.

The development of a Green Lantern project has seen some black nights over the years, but the bright green light of day is closer than ever. HBO has given a straight-to-series order for Lanterns, an eight-episode television event first announced as part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios roadmap last year.
True Detective: Night Country executive producer/writer Chris Mundy will serve as showrunner, co-writing alongside Damon Lindelof and Eisner Award-winning comic scribe Tom King (who’s also getting a “based on” credit for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film). All three will also serve as executive producers on Lanterns, a crime drama centered on the iconic characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
Bringing on Mundy and Lindelof aligns with what Safran and Gunn previously shared about the show. “Our vision is much more True Detective, terrestrial-based investigation story,” Safran said when announcing the series in 2023. Indeed,...

To paraphrase a long-running network slogan, “It’s Not Max. It’s HBO.” HBO and Max content CEO Casey Bloys is changing the delineation between what an “HBO show” and a “Max show” is, moving most of Max’s upcoming big-budget, tentpole Warner Bros. IP projects to under the HBO umbrella.
That means the upcoming “Harry Potter” TV show, as well as the “It” prequel series “Welcome to Derry” and the just-announced Green Lantern adaptation “Lanterns” — in other words, major DC franchise and other big-budget titles — will all now be branded as HBO originals.
This is a switch from the most recent decision to place all series based on Warner Bros. IP in the Max bucket, which was first established when Bloys added oversight of Max in 2020.
“We felt like we had to delineate between an HBO show and a Max show,” Bloys said of that initial distinction. “The idea...

If you're still feeling down in the dumps over "The Batman Part II" being delayed a full year while Warner Bros. figures this DC s**t out, I come bearing good news. "The Penguin," a spin-off series centered on Colin Farrell's crime boss Oswald "Oz" Cobb, aka The Penguin, is coming later this year and it looks to serve as a quasi-sequel to Matt Reeves' Fincher-esque, noirish take on the Caped Crusader. This will also mark the second time the titular Batman villain's rise to power in Gotham City's criminal underworld has been covered on the small screen after "Gotham," a deliriously ridiculous show in which, at one point, one of the series' heroes uncovers a corpse in a refrigerator and immediately pops the cap off a nice cool beverage on the top shelf, reasoning, "If I don't drink it, forensics will."

A while back, the Max streaming service unveiled a teaser for their upcoming series The Penguin, a spinoff from Matt Reeves’ The Batman that sees Colin Farrell (who has described the show as being “incredibly violent“) reprising the role of The Penguin. Now a second teaser for The Penguin has made its way online, and you can check it out in the embed above! A specific premiere date for The Penguin has not yet been announced, but we do know that it’s aiming for a September debut.
Set in the aftermath of the events of The Batman, The Penguin is an eight-episode limited series that’s coming our way from Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. The official synopsis simply tells us that the show continues filmmaker Matt Reeves’ The Batman epic crime saga that began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster The Batman. The series was developed by writer/showrunner Lauren LeFranc.

"The gods started this war, now it's time to fight."
Netflix has released an exciting - and fairly gruesome - first teaser for Zack Snyder's adult animated Norse mythology series, Twilight of the Gods, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on September 19.

When the 2023 Primetime Emmy nominations were revealed, Ali Wong and Pedro Pascal both had the honor of being included in multiple performance lineups. She made history as the first newcomer to the acting categories recognized for both live action (“Beef”) and voice (“Tuca & Bertie”) work, while he became the first actor nominated for three programs on his initial Emmy outing. These achievements made them the newest members of a group of 26 people who earned their first two (or three) acting Emmy nominations in a single year.

Netflix unveiled first looks at a whole host of its upcoming animated shows and features during an event on Thursday, and Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder was on hand to introduce the first footage from his Norse Mythology series, Twilight of the Gods.
“I love mythology,” said the filmmaker. "On a scale like this, I feel like animation was the greatest way to tell the story.”
First announced way back in 2019, it's taken quite a while to find its way to our screens, but we recently learned that the show will finally premiere on Netflix this Fall.
The project has been described as "Anime-influenced," but judging by these clips, we'd say the animation style has more in common with the Academy Award-nominated Cartoon Saloon studio.
