I've been a fan of Lego Friends since the very beginning, I've watched every episode of every series as well as the Girlz 4 Life movie! All of the characters in this really feel like real people. It's more than just "the nerd, the artist, the musician", each character has their own personality alongside their interests.
It's kid friendly, no mention of inappropriate topics and it's easy to understand, but at the same time it's enjoyable for older viewers to enjoy it as well. It has a very diverse line of characters, there are people of color and people with disabilities represented. Taking place at an international School, many of the characters are from other countries. Olly is from England, Leo is from Mexico, Paisley is from Germany, Nova is from Canada, and Zac is from France (Zac is not in this episode, but will come later on). One of the main characters, (Autumn) was born with a limb difference, and it is represented so well in this, it doesn't bring her down. It shows the characters having anxiety about making new friends, struggling with learning new things, and having trouble focusing.
The Next Chapter is still in the same universe as the old Lego Friends. It takes place in Heartlake City like it used to, there's just been a time skip. Mia is the mom of the main character Autumn, and I'm guessing that we will see some of the other old main characters at some point.
Lego Friends sets you can actually buy are real buildings in the show. Autumn's House, Heartlake International School, The Diner, and the Organic Grocery Store are all shown here, but it's not shown in an advertisement type of way. It makes it exciting to watch while knowing that I have a set that's shown in the show! It really makes you feel like you're a part of the adventure.
This has honestly become my favorite thing to watch, I love learning about the new characters, and this special was written so well. I strongly recommend this to any kids or teens, even if you aren't familiar with the old Lego Friends. I'd rate it G, there's nothing that requires a parent to help explain or warn about.
I hope we can get more episodes soon, this special absolutely blew me away with how good it was, so I can't wait to see more!
