108 Media, a Singapore-based content distribution and development company with offices in Toronto, Japan and Europe, has picked up international sales rights to docuseries “Fearless: Rise of the Johor Southern Tigers.” The series spotlights Johor Darul Ta’zim Fc (Jdt), a soccer team, whose victories have helped build a community, a society, a state and a nation.

“Fearless” is co-directed by Leon Tan (producer of “War of the Worlds: Goliath”) and Tony Pietra Arjuna. It is produced by Kuala Lumpur-based Supernova Media, and comprises of 5 x 22-minute episodes, with English language narration and subtitles.

Filmed during the 2019-20 season, “Fearless” tracks the personalities of the Jdt team, their superfans known as the “Boys of Straits,” boardroom politics, lifts the lid on the team’s new Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, and examines the team’s progressive youth academy program.

Written by David Abramowitz, directed by Joe Pearson and starring Peter Wingfield, Adrian Paul, Tony Eusoff, Elizabeth Gracen, Jim Byrnes, Rob Middleton, Mark Sheppard, Matt Letscher and Adam Baldwin, War of the Worlds: Goliath received theatrical distribution and release on iTunes and VOD on March 7.

On April 1, the DVD/3D Blu-ray will be available at major retailers (including Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Sam's Club, etc.) and digital VOD (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, etc.).

Former Village Roadshow Pictures CEO Greg Coote and Malaysian producer Leon Tan have launched DragonSlate Media.

The entity is backed by strategic investment from the Malaysia Venture Capital Management (Mavcap) and the plan is to create a Malaysia-based pipeline of film and TV properties.

Coote and Tan (pictured) aim to put at least two projects into production in 2014 and will announce the first pair shortly.

La-based Coote most recently served as chairman and CEO of fox’s former financing partner Dune Entertainment and was a founding president and CEO of Village Roadshow Pictures.

Tan serves as CEO of animation and post-production company Tripod Entertainment and produced Malaysia’s 3D animation War Of The Worlds: Goliath.

“Malaysia has dynamic and hungry filmmakers, award-winning expertise and talent, and a conducive environment to nurture a world-class film and TV production hub, backed by both public and private sectors,” said Coote.
