The title song plays in the tenth minute.
The film is chock packed with metaphors and title references. When Sheila says to Billy, "Oh Denver, so much to answer for" a line from Suffer Little Children (with Manchester replacing Denver), about the Moors murders in the 1960s. The actual title of the song is also a clever double entendre quoting with a bible verse in which Jesus says "Suffer the little children..."
While the song The Queen is Dead is playing, a man at the party is reading a book with that title.
When Dean points his gun saying that he could murder his boss it's a nod to "Girlfriend in a Coma" ("There were times when I could have murder her").
When Dean says he'll do something that will go to musical history it's a nod to Smiths' "Frankly, Mr. Shankly" ("I want to go down in musical history").
