The previously announced Poltergeist television series is reportedly still in development, according to Variety. On August 19, the outlet exclusively revealed that the upcoming television show being produced by Amazon MGM Studios had found its showrunners in Kalinda Vazquez and Robbie Thompson. In addition to showrunning, the duo will write and executive produce the series, which will be produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television.

No plot details have been shared just yet about the show, but we know it's inspired by the original Tobe Hooper-directed film from 1982. Poltergeist is considered a horror classic and went on to spawn two sequels, Poltergeist II: The Other Side and Poltergeist III, and a 2015 remake.

Vazquez has written on many popular shows, including The CW spy thriller Nikita and Fox's Prison Break, while Thompson is an accomplished comic book writer and has written for characters like Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. He also worked...

Daniel Brühl is getting back behind the camera to direct “Break,” a biopic about the tennis champion Gottfried von Cramm whose rise to stardom in the 1930s saw him face off with the Nazi regime in his native Germany.

“All Quiet on the Western” front star Felix Kammerer will lead the feature, which reunites the actor, Bruhl and the team behind the Oscar-winning WWI drama. “Break” is based on a screenplay by Hossein Amini from Marshall Jon Fisher’s “A Terrible Splendor: Three Extraordinary Men, a World Poised for War, and the Greatest Tennis Match Ever Played.”

The Ink Factory (“The Pigeon Tunnel,” “The Night Manager”) and their partners Marc Platt and Adam Siegel for Marc Platt Productions are teaming with Malte Grunert for Amusement Park (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) and Edward Berger (“All Quiet on the Western Front”) for Nine Hours on the picture, which will be told in German and English.

Daniel Brühl is returning to the director’s chair for bio-pic Break starring Felix Kammerer as real-life German tennis champion Gottfried von Cramm who found himself in the crosshairs of the Nazi regime as his sporting star rose in the 1930s.

The production reunites the team behind German WW1 drama All Quiet On The Western Front, which was nominated in nine categories at the Academy Awards in 2023 and won in four, including Best International Feature Film.

London and LA-based The Ink Factory and partners Marc Platt and Adam Siegel at Marc Platt Productions, are joining forces on the production with All Quiet On The Western Front producer Malte Grunert at Amusement Park and the Oscar-winning film’s director and producer Edward Berger at Nine Hours.

Speaking about the album, frontman Zac Carper said, “This record is about doubling down on what you love. For us, it’s about playing shows and making music. Coming back after a few years away, our intention was to self-make an album that the 3 of us are stoked on. We’re very very very pumped on it and what’s to come. These songs are meant to be heard live with the fellow Fidiots going off.”

I didn’t cover Alan Wake II when it was released last fall, but I echo everything in Reyna’s 5/5 review. It’s a masterpiece of survival horror that has one of the most creatively confident visions I’ve seen in the medium. I’m always on board for anything Remedy makes, so I was extremely excited by the Summer Game Fest announcement that Night Springs, the first of two planned story DLCs, was to be released on June 8. And, in line with CBS’ new strategy for long-term development and planning, the network announced its schedule for the entire 2024-25 season. It is contingent on IATSE making a new deal with the studios to avoid a strike. At the unveiling of the schedule, George Cheeks, President and CEO of CBS, said that they have contingency plans should a work stoppage occur but wouldn’t elaborate further. “If we need to delay, we are ready,” he said.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide rights to pool-themed drama-thriller Break and will be introducing the project to international buyers at this week’s European Film Market.

The film is also set for an April 26 US and Canada theatrical release in 120 cinemas through cloud-based delivery platform MetaMedia and its cinema partners. The theatrical release will be followed by a digital launch.

Directed by Will Wernick, 'Break' stars Darren Weiss, Victor Rasuk, Jeff Kober, Caleb Emery and Patricia Belcher. Weiss plays Eli, a young man who, following in the footsteps of his absent father, learns about the realities and dangers of the Detroit pool scene.
