This film was a surprise for me. It was a drama that was full of funny moments and it managed to explore a political subject without alienating the audience. Most short films are rather one note and small in scope."Quiet" is impressive because it is a complete story. The main character has to fight for her partner in the hospital, and deceive the staff by telling them she is her sister for fear they will throw her out. During the film, there are several transitions to the past. I was very impressed with the level of production value. There are many visual transitions that are quite beautiful and the whole film has a strong ensemble cast. Standouts were Susan Graham and Mike Rose, as well as Cocoa Brown, who played one of the nurses. The only critique is perhaps they tried to juggle a lot in just thirty minutes, but I think the film's ending was really powerful without being over the top. I read in the Trivia that this story is based on a true event, and that makes the idea even more powerful.
