The Max Holiday 2024 collection That Time of Year is now live on the streaming service. The collection will serve as the hub for holiday content, showcasing an extensive selection of series, films, and more, guaranteed to bring joy and cheer to viewers during the festive season.

The That Time of Year collection kicks off the festivities today by spotlighting themed curations like “Comfort & Joy,” “Families We’re Thankful For” and “Season of Romance,” featuring new Max Original film Sweethearts (debuting Nov. 28) and others, making it seamless for subscribers to discover holiday classics and new favorites on Max.

On top of celebrating the 20th anniversary of Polar Express, viewers can also dive into nostalgic fan favorite films such as A Christmas Story, Elf, Holiday Harmony, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and ageless holiday classics like A Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, A Carol for Another Christmas, Meet Me In St. Louis (Dec.

Max is celebrating the winter holidays with the “That Time of Year” collection, a special page featuring selected holiday films and series. The streamer’s also bringing back its special Yule log collection, with the 2024 selection including “World of Westeros Dragon Egg Yule Log,” “Harry Potter: Fireplace,” and “A Very Merry Rickmas Yule Log.”

2024’s been a tough year so holiday favorites Elf, A Christmas Story, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation will help take our minds off the world. Max’s lineup also includes the classic holiday films A Christmas Carol, A Carol for Another Christmas, Meet Me In St. Louis, and The Shop Around the Corner. Luke Hemsworth has joined the cast of Australian cop comedy Deadloch‘s second season on Prime Video.

The actor has been filming in his native Australia, joining leads Kate Box, Madeleine Sami, Nina Oyama and Alicia Gardiner in the comedy series, which has been hit for Amazon’s streaming service.

Hemsworth will play Jason Wade, creator and star of ‘Jason Wade’s Adventures Down Under’ and the owner of ‘Jason Wade’s Land of Crocs and Other Animals’ Wildlife Park.

The show follows Dulcie (Box) and Eddie (Sami), a pair of mismatched detectives. In the new season, they are investigating the death of Eddie’s former policing partner, Bushy. When a body is discovered in a remote town, they are flung into a new sweatier, stickier investigation.

Filming has wrapped in the croc-infested waters of the Northern Territories and moved to Brisbane’s studios in Queensland.

The executives that comprise the “Office of the CEO” at Paramount Global are getting a sweetened deal to stick around during the limbo ahead of the company’s merger with Skydance Media, which isn’t expected to close until sometime in the first half of 2025.

That Paramount co-ceo trio — George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins — were earlier granted a 2X multiple of their unspecified annual salary, as well as other benefits. “Dune: Part Two,” “Inside Out 2” and “The Creator” lead the feature nominations for this year’s Hollywood Professional Association (Hpa) Awards with three apiece. The awards will be presented during a Nov. 7 gala at the Television Academy in North Hollywood.

“Dune: Part Two” was nominated in the categories for color grading, editing and sound; “The Creator,” for color grading, sound and visual effects; and “Inside Out 2” for color grading in an animation feature, sound, and VFX in an animated feature. The eligibility period runs from September to September.

As previously announced, during the ceremony FotoKem will receive the Charles S. Swartz Award for industry contributions. Adobe, Disguise, Cuebric and Evercast will be honored for engineering excellence.

It's the end of time-traveling adventures for Time Bandits on Apple TV . After only one season of the show, the streamer has decided to cancel the series starring Lisa Kudrow. This is a disappointment, but not really surprising.

The news comes almost a month following the release of the finale. So the streaming service didn't wait very long to make a decision on the fate of the show. The series premiered on July 24, 2024 and the tenth and final episode came out on Aug. 21. So yeah, it definitely didn't take long for Apple TV to cancel the fantasy adventure.

Deadline shared the cancellation news, and the outlet attributes the fact that the adventure show was not able to make it into the Nielsen Top 10 streaming within the first week of viewing. Audience and how many people tune into episodes is the biggest factor companies look at when deciding whether to renew a project or not.

The other month, Apple TV aired the season finale to Time Bandits, its TV update of Terry Gilliam's 1981 time-hopping adventure movie. Now, not 30 days later, the streamer has opted to call it quits. Time Bandits is canceled, according to The A.V. Club.

We enjoyed the loose, family-friendly tone of Time Bandits, which starred Lisa Kudrow as the head of a time-traveling band of merry robbers and Kal-El Tuck as the young history nerd who joined them on their adventures. The Taiki Waititi remake of Terry Gilliam’s beloved Time Bandits won’t be returning, with poor viewing figures being the likely culprit.

When Apple TV first announced that it was making a fantasy series –Time Bandits – based on the 1981 Terry Gilliam film of the same name, it sounded like a clever idea, not least because of the talent involved. It was created by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi (who would also appear in the series) as well as Iain Morris, best known as the co-creator of The Inbetweeners.

Apple didn’t skimp on the budget either (does it ever?) with all of those dollars definitely showing up on the screen. High production values meant impressive lighting and special effects and we’ll bet Mr Waititi didn’t come cheap either. According to The Hollywood Reporter though, none of that was enough to tempt audiences in the numbers that Apple was hoping for,...

Disappointing news for fans of Apple TV 's small-screen take on Time Bandits here, as the streamer has decided not to move forward with a second season.

Deadline broke the news, which comes almost a month after the 10-episode first season of the family-friendly sci-fi comedy series ended its run.

Despite mostly positive reviews, (the series earned a pretty decent 78% on Rotten Tomatoes), Time Bandits did not attract enough viewers, and even though Apple TV does not share viewership data, the fact that the show was unable to crack Nielsen's Top 10 streaming rankings clearly factored into the streamer's decision not to renew it for a sophomore season.

We got word that Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi and frequent collaborator Jemaine Clement were in the process of developing a reimagining of Terry Gilliam's '80s sci-fi classic back in 2022, with Friends alum Lisa Kudrow set to star.

“Time Bandits” has been canceled by Apple TV after one season, Variety has confirmed.

The fantasy series, starring Lisa Kudrow, follows a group of thieves and their newest recruit — an 11-year-old boy named Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) — hopping across time and space to plunder riches. Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris and Taika Waititi created the series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 cult classic, with Clement and Morris serving as co-showrunners.

Along with Kudrow and Tuck, the cast includes Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Charlyne Yi, Rune Temte, Rachel House, Kiera Thompson, James Dryden, Felicity Ward, Francesca Mills and Imaan Hadchiti.

Clement, Morris and Waititi wrote and directed select episodes of “Time Bandits” Season 1; they also executive produced alongside Garrett Basch, Jane Stanton for Handmade Films and Tim Coddington. The now-defunct Paramount TV Studios produced with Anonymous Content’s AC Studios and MRC Television.

In July, Morris spoke to Variety about introducing “Time Bandits” to a new audience.

Time Bandits‘ latest adventure has come to an end. Apple TV has opted not to renew the series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s cult classic film for a second season. The news comes almost a month after the 10-episode first season of the fantasy series starring Lisa Kudrow ended its run, released in batches of two episodes weekly.

The development is not entirely surprising. Despite the nostalgia factor and mostly favorable reviews (78% on Rotten Tomatoes), Time Bandits, created by Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris and Taika Waititi, did not attract large enough audience and was not able to crack Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming rankings.

An adaptation of the 1981 Terry Gilliam film, Time Bandits followed an 11-year-old history buff named Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) as he joined up with a ragtag group of thieves and traveled through time and space with them on a series of fantastical adventures. Things began with the titular thieves – Penelope, Alto, Widgit, Bittelig, and Judy – stealing the map that allowed its owner to travel through time from the Supreme Being because they were too tired of being bullied by him. Prime Video has announced that the Australian Original The Office will premiere on October 18. The comedy series is the thirteenth version of the global hit juggernaut franchise and has the first-ever female lead in the iconic role, comedian and actor Felicity Ward who plays Hannah Howard, Managing Director of Flinley Craddick.

All eight episodes of The Office Australia will be available on October 18 exclusively on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories worldwide (excluding the U.S.) in the Prime membership.

The Australian edition of “The Office” — the 13th global incarnation of the iconic comedy series — is taking shape, with Prime Video setting a release date and releasing a first-look at its lead, Felicity Ward.

The “Time Bandits” and “Wakefield” star will play Hannah Howard, managing director of packaging company Flinley Craddick and the first female lead of “The Office” franchise. All eight episodes will become available globally on Oct. 18 via Prime Video (excluding the U.S.).

Time Bandits Season 1 Episodes 7 and 8 are gathering steam as we close in on the final episodes, despite Episode 7 being a largely throw-away 50 minutes of fluff.

As a comparison with the original, which is perhaps something I should cease and desist doing, Taika Waititi’s series is essentially a stand-alone.

Having only the loosest association with its namesake, it’s better to view Apple TV’s version on its own merits.
