We’re told others in the cast will include Rafe Spall (Just Mercy), Walliams (Little Britain) and newcomer Iona Bell. Waititi’s deal is not done at this stage, and it’s not entirely clear whether it will make. Production kicks off in Australia and the UK in Q1.
The story follows librarians Mr. and Mrs. Meek, who will do anything to keep their darling daughter, Myrtle (Bell), happy. But it’s not enough for Myrtle who always wants more, more, More! John Cleese is best known as a member of the British comedy troupe Monty Python. Let’s look back at the Oscar-nominated funnyman and his 12 greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1939 in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, England, Cleese rose to prominence thanks to the British sketch series “Monty Python’s Flying Circus,” which ran for four seasons on the BBC from 1969-1974. The troupe — which also included Graham Chapman, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin — revolutionized comedy with their surreal, experimental sketches, the best of which were assembled into the film “And Now for Something Completely Different” (1971). This led to other cinematic outings, including “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” (1975), “Life of Brian” (1979) and “The Meaning of Life” (1983).
Cleese achieved big screen success of his own with “A Fish Called Wanda” (1988), which he wrote and starred in as an uptight English barrister who becomes entangled in an elaborate...

The executives that comprise the “Office of the CEO” at Paramount Global are getting a sweetened deal to stick around during the limbo ahead of the company’s merger with Skydance Media, which isn’t expected to close until sometime in the first half of 2025.
That Paramount co-ceo trio — George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins — were earlier granted a 2X multiple of their unspecified annual salary, as well as other benefits. Now the company, in a securities filing disclosed on Tuesday, says that pay increase will continue to apply during duration of employment at the company, even if the executives are no longer part of the “Office of the CEO.”
The new securities filing also detailed that the trio also received extra stock and a bonus of Restricted Share Units with a grant value of $3 million.

There's just something about the '90s comedy series Friends and the main cast members that still have us hooked to this day! Even after all these years, us fans love to support the actors in the projects they are still doing. And that includes one cast member who is set to star in Goosebumps season 2, coming in January 2025!
Lisa Kudrow recently took the lead in Time Bandits on Apple TV . Though that's unfortunately been canceled after one season. But, fear not! She does have a dark comedy Netflix series coming soon on Dec. 12, 2024, and that's No Good Deed! Be sure to check the actress out there.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been such a coveted hub of entertainment that it’s either the place where everyone is or everyone wants to be. The popularity of the franchise comes with its own perks, as you get access to unlimited resources, and people from every country that has an accessible film theater become familiar with your work. But it has its downsides because the franchise works like a conveyor belt and every project has a stupid deadline that stifles creativity. And since a lot of directors are in there, sometimes for very long periods of time, it’s interesting to see how the process of making a Marvel project has affected their vision and whether that change is palpable in their post-mcu career. Jon Favreau made the amazing Chef and then went right into the conveyor belt with Disney remakes and Star Wars’ Mandalorian IP. James Gunn made the fantastic The Suicide Squad.

If you’re going to be a Chicago Fire fan, you’re going to have to get used to saying goodbye.
The fact is, this show is packed with unlucky characters who meet untimely ends.
Because it’s a show about responding to emergencies, the episodes often involve the death of a minor character, and sometimes those stick with you long after the credits roll.

Several Chicago Fire deaths have shaken us, broken us, and left us crying into our pillows.
In the first twelve seasons, we said goodbye to an outrageous number of beloved heroes and unlucky victims.
Some hurt more than others, and at this point we’re holding our breath.

The current generation of anime and manga fans won’t know this, but Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira was one of the first series to establish the image of the industry all over the world. When Akira first came out, it marked a revolution in the manga industry and became one of the biggest names ever.

You can overhear a lot of weird things walking through the park, but an excited, sudden exclamation of “What if it was a horde of rats?!” is definitely up there. Yet the reason, in this particular case, wasn’t an ominous one: It was part of the brainstorming process for the opening title sequence for Netflix’s recent (excellent) adaptation of “The Decameron.”

From winning an Academy Award for Jojo Rabbit to becoming the audience’s worst nightmare, Taika Waititi has had a rocky few years.

Taika Waititi is best known for his hilarious works, both on-screen and behind the curtains. The actor, writer, and filmmaker has been involved in several hits on the big and small screens. Unfortunately, recent times have not been kind to his stint behind the camera. Thor: Love and Thunder, which was co-written and directed by Waititi failed to garner the expected response.
Another highly anticipated project was an untitled Star Wars movie which has been stuck in limbo since its announcement in 2020. Now his most recent venture, Time Bandits a TV show was cancelled just after the first season. Though this time the reason is more complex and practical, something which might affect the fate of even popular series like The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power.

Lisa Kudrow’s an absolute pro, and this Friends story just proves it. Imagine being in serious pain while filming a hilarious scene and still managing to smile through it all. That’s exactly what went down during one of Friends’ iconic moments. While Phoebe Buffay was busy cracking us up on screen, Lisa was dealing with a whole lot behind the scenes.

The actor later revealed she was battling some intense discomfort but still nailed the scene like a champ. Talk about commitment! It’s one of those moments where you realize just how much these actors go through to keep us laughing—pain or not, Kudrow delivered the goods.

It's the end of time-traveling adventures for Time Bandits on Apple TV . After only one season of the show, the streamer has decided to cancel the series starring Lisa Kudrow. This is a disappointment, but not really surprising.
The news comes almost a month following the release of the finale. So the streaming service didn't wait very long to make a decision on the fate of the show. The series premiered on July 24, 2024 and the tenth and final episode came out on Aug. 21. So yeah, it definitely didn't take long for Apple TV to cancel the fantasy adventure.
Deadline shared the cancellation news, and the outlet attributes the fact that the adventure show was not able to make it into the Nielsen Top 10 streaming within the first week of viewing. Audience and how many people tune into episodes is the biggest factor companies look at when deciding whether to renew a project or not.

The other month, Apple TV aired the season finale to Time Bandits, its TV update of Terry Gilliam's 1981 time-hopping adventure movie. Now, not 30 days later, the streamer has opted to call it quits. Time Bandits is canceled, according to The A.V. Club.
We enjoyed the loose, family-friendly tone of Time Bandits, which starred Lisa Kudrow as the head of a time-traveling band of merry robbers and Kal-El Tuck as the young history nerd who joined them on their adventures. But you'd be forgiven if you didn't even know this series existed. Despite having some big names behind it — the show was created by Iain Morris, Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, the latter two of whom also created What We Do In The Shadows — there wasn't much buzz about it. Considering that it cost a pretty penny to make — building sets for every new era the Time Bandits visit doesn't...

The Taiki Waititi remake of Terry Gilliam’s beloved Time Bandits won’t be returning, with poor viewing figures being the likely culprit.
When Apple TV first announced that it was making a fantasy series –Time Bandits – based on the 1981 Terry Gilliam film of the same name, it sounded like a clever idea, not least because of the talent involved. It was created by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi (who would also appear in the series) as well as Iain Morris, best known as the co-creator of The Inbetweeners.
Apple didn’t skimp on the budget either (does it ever?) with all of those dollars definitely showing up on the screen. High production values meant impressive lighting and special effects and we’ll bet Mr Waititi didn’t come cheap either. According to The Hollywood Reporter though, none of that was enough to tempt audiences in the numbers that Apple was hoping for,...

Disappointing news for fans of Apple TV 's small-screen take on Time Bandits here, as the streamer has decided not to move forward with a second season.
Deadline broke the news, which comes almost a month after the 10-episode first season of the family-friendly sci-fi comedy series ended its run.
Despite mostly positive reviews, (the series earned a pretty decent 78% on Rotten Tomatoes), Time Bandits did not attract enough viewers, and even though Apple TV does not share viewership data, the fact that the show was unable to crack Nielsen's Top 10 streaming rankings clearly factored into the streamer's decision not to renew it for a sophomore season.
We got word that Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi and frequent collaborator Jemaine Clement were in the process of developing a reimagining of Terry Gilliam's '80s sci-fi classic back in 2022, with Friends alum Lisa Kudrow set to star.

Apple TV won’t reset the clock on Time Bandits.
The tech giant’s streaming service has canceled the series, an adaptation of a 1981 feature film by Terry Gilliam, after a single season. The news comes less than four weeks after Time Bandits completed its 10-episode first season on Aug. 21.
As is the case with most streaming series, viewing figures for Time Bandits aren’t publicly available. The show didn’t break into Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming series in the first four weeks of its run (Apple TV released two episodes per week). Critics were largely positive on the show; The Hollywood Reporter’s Daniel Fienberg wrote that particularly in the second half of the season, Time Bandits is “actively funny and clever and just a little bit emotional.”
Like the film, the series follows a young history buff (Kal-El Tuck) who’s recruited to join a band of...

If you were a fan of Time Bandits on Apple TV , you might be a little depressed to learn that the streaming service has cancelled the series after just one season.

“Time Bandits” has been canceled by Apple TV after one season, Variety has confirmed.
The fantasy series, starring Lisa Kudrow, follows a group of thieves and their newest recruit — an 11-year-old boy named Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) — hopping across time and space to plunder riches. Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris and Taika Waititi created the series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 cult classic, with Clement and Morris serving as co-showrunners.
Along with Kudrow and Tuck, the cast includes Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Charlyne Yi, Rune Temte, Rachel House, Kiera Thompson, James Dryden, Felicity Ward, Francesca Mills and Imaan Hadchiti.
Clement, Morris and Waititi wrote and directed select episodes of “Time Bandits” Season 1; they also executive produced alongside Garrett Basch, Jane Stanton for Handmade Films and Tim Coddington. The now-defunct Paramount TV Studios produced with Anonymous Content’s AC Studios and MRC Television.
In July, Morris spoke to Variety about introducing “Time Bandits” to a new audience.

Time Bandits‘ latest adventure has come to an end. Apple TV has opted not to renew the series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s cult classic film for a second season. The news comes almost a month after the 10-episode first season of the fantasy series starring Lisa Kudrow ended its run, released in batches of two episodes weekly.

Paramount Global’s decision to shutter its namesake TV studio means the loss of dozens of jobs, the shifting of several series to another banner and a consolidation of power within the company’s two remaining TV studios — at least until a potential Skydance-Paramount merger is complete.

The first season of Time Bandits has come to an end. Things began with the titular thieves – Penelope, Alto, Widgit, Bittelig, and Judy – stealing the map that allowed its owner to travel through time from the Supreme Being because they were too tired of being bullied by him. Their adventures brought them to Kevin’s house, and he became a part of the gang because of his love for history. But when Kevin’s actions caused his parents to be turned into coal by Fianna, i.e. Pure Evil’s hired assassin, the kid spent the rest of the show trying to get to the point in his timeline where his parents were about to be attacked. Since Widgit took a lot of time to figure out how the map worked, the bandits ended up at various historical junctures and influenced them in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. But when one...

Although somewhat tame by today’s standards, when Monty Python’s Life of Brian was released in 1979, it was considered to be among the most offensive — and blasphemous — films ever made. While no strangers to controversy, Monty Python faced a backlash like never before with their third film, in which they relentlessly mocked organized religion via a biblical epic parody about a man named Brian who is mistaken for the messiah just because he’s Jesus’ neighbor.
Forty-five years after its initial release, Life of Brian is still regarded as a classic, and many consider it to be the best, most sophisticated work the Pythons ever did. Here’s how it all came about, how angry it made everybody and why it’s stood the test of time…

Life of Brian was first conceived when the Pythons were on the publicity tour for Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Welcome to your Evil Season 4 Episode 13 recap. This is, sadly, the penultimate episode. You can enjoy a discussion about the episode, as well.
David announces that today is the last mass as the building will be deconsecrated and sold. He finds a note “from a friend” on the vestibule that says to meet at their sacred place.
Kristen tells David she got teary-eyed, and David admitted it was odd that he felt closest to the two atheists in the building. As they ponder their last assessment, men arrive with ladders, ready to tear the place down.
(Elizabeth Fisher/Paramount )
Father Katagas from the Vatican is in David’s office. All the files are gone, but he has one last case for them. It turns out that the Vatican did not close them down; the archdiocese did.

Time Bandits Season 1 Episodes 7 and 8 are gathering steam as we close in on the final episodes, despite Episode 7 being a largely throw-away 50 minutes of fluff.
As a comparison with the original, which is perhaps something I should cease and desist doing, Taika Waititi’s series is essentially a stand-alone.
Having only the loosest association with its namesake, it’s better to view Apple TV’s version on its own merits.

Certain remakes and adaptations will always have this problem, which is why the originals are almost always regarded as the superior rendition.
It took a little while for Time Bandits to find a semi-sort-of pathway through time. Though it’s been a bumpy ride, there is some semblance of cohesion coming together here near the end.

Although Time Bandits began as a 1981 cult classic film, it has earned itself a modern makeover thanks to comedy duo Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. New episodes of the first season have been dropping weekly on Apple TV , with the final two episodes out on Wednesday, August 21. The show follows Kevin Haddock (Kal-El Tuck), a preteen history nerd who finds himself traveling through space and time with a gang of amateur thieves who call themselves the Time Bandits. The crew, led by Penelope (Lisa Kudrow), find themselves on the run from their former boss and godly overlord, Supreme Being (Waititi),while simultaneously being tracked by his spiritual opposite, Wrongness (Clement). As they make their way through time via portals, they’re able to learn more about the different historical environments they find themselves in, thanks to Kevin serving as their personal history genius. In return, Kevin is able to travel...
