Every week, we spotlight a kill that we just can’t get enough of. This is Kill of the Week. The most memorable shower scene in horror history will likely always be the unexpected slaying of Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, but direct-to-video sequel Mirrors 2 can, if nothing more, at least be proud of the fact […]...

Just as the refreshing supernatural horror thriller Deliver Us from Evil hits theaters today before the big holiday weekend, a trailer for a much more generic and seemingly boring film in the same genre has arrive. If The Damned wasn't generic enough of a title for you, the trailer does a much better job of delivering the same kind of story and scares we've seen time and time again. At first it seems like this might be different with the set-up coming from a mudslide accident that leaves a family (led by Peter Facinelli) stranded in Colombia, but then it heads into familiar territory with a creepy, dirty, wet girl scaring them, things moving by themselves, and all that cliche jazz. Plus, it's just edited poorly with long-winded text bumpers. Watch? Here's the first trailer for Victor Garcia's The Damned from IFC Films: The Damned is directed by...

From director Victor Garcia comes the supernatural thriller Gallows Hill. Garcia's previous efforts include Hellraiser: Revelations, Return To House On Haunted Hill as well as Mirrors 2. Rich D'Ovidio, whose credits include The Call and THIR13EN Ghosts, penned the screenplay. Gallows Hill looks to bring the stranded, out of control terror to the forefront. We have the trailer for the film waiting for you below. Starring Peter Facinelli, Sophia…...

We live in a world in which pointless sequels are thrown at us like balls being hurled at an annoying clown in a dunking tank. Yes, that's a given, but sometimes even we have to wonder just what in the world goes through people's minds.
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Fox Home Entertainment is moving on a sequel to the 2008 teen-friendly snoozer The Haunting of Molly Hartley. The new film, entitled, The Exorcism of Molly Hartley, will see I Spit on Your Grave's Steven R. Monroe taking on directing duties.
Haley Bennett played Molly in the first film. No word on if she’ll return.
Here's our hope... Steven R. Monroe. Please take this to the darkest, most ghastly and horrific place possible. We love you... love us back!
Apparently the sequel follows Molly Hartley, who, after a night of heavy partying, finds her friends butchered. While locked in a mental hospital for observation,...

"A horror icon is reborn." That might be a little too liberal use of the word "icon." Yes, there's been plenty of Leprechaun films in the past, but they've all been B-movie level horror movies (some even worse), many never even hitting the big screen and going straight-to-dvd. But the tiny little bastard is making a comeback with Leprechaun: Origins, and now Lionsgate and WWE Films have released the golden teaser poster for the horror reboot starring wrestler Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl in the role originated by Warwick Davis. This likely means the first trailer is also coming sometime soon, so stay tuned. Look below! Here's the first poster for Zach Lipovsky's Leprechaun: Origins from Shock Til You Drop: Leprechaun: Origins is directed by TV movie director Zach Lipovsky and written by freshman writer Harris Wilkinson and straight-to-dvd horror sequel writer Matt Venne (Fright Night 2, Mirrors 2, White Noise...

Originally lensed in 1985, Fright Night, from writer/director Tom Holland (Child’s Play), went on to become a favourite amongst my generation and to this day is still held in very warm regard. The sequel, which followed in 1987, wasn’t as successful as the original, yet remains a much sought after title on DVD and Blu-ray. The original film was remade in 2011 starring Colin Farrell in the vampire role and Fright Night 2: New Blood is a sequel to that remake. With me so far?
Well now it gets a little confusing. This iteration of Fright Night 2 is a remake of the Original Fright Night, not the sequel or the remake, which also throws the legend of Countess Elizabeth Bathory into the mix. Still with me?

As usual, let's begin with a brief history lesson.
Fright Night (1985) arrives from Columbia Pictures and writer/director Tom Holland (he'd later go on to direct Child's Play, The Temp, and Thinner), becomes a modest box office hit, and goes on to become a nostalgic favorite among horror fans of a certain age. (Like me.) Essentially a teenager vs. vampire rendition of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, the original Fright Night was about a kid who discovers that his new neighbor is a murderous bloodsucker -- but of course nobody believes him. Fright Night Part 2 (1987) reunited the kid (William Ragsdale) and the reluctant hero (Roddy McDowall) from the first movie, but the plot (about a female vampire with a serious grudge) wasn't nearly as novel. Worth a look for fans of the original Fright Night, but certainly nothing too memorable. Fright Night (2011) brought a very amusing Colin Farrell to...

Superhero and sci-fi fare weren't the only movie projects to make headlines at this year's Comic-Con. The world of horror was well represented, too. One of the notable film projects to make its presence known in San Diego is a big-screen adaptation of Crawl to Me, the terrifying graphic novel from Life of Agony bassist Alan Robert, who's been earning no small amount of praise for his work as both a writer and artist in the comics world. The story, which chronicles a couple's descent into madness after moving into a new house with a mysterious past, was first published in 2011. During Comic-Con, it was announced that Spanish director Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2) and the producer team Rodar y Rodar (The Orphanage) were now attached to the film. Movies.com is...

The anthology horror film is back in the wake of the success of chapter-style horror films like The Theatre Bizarre (2011) and its announced follow-up, V/H/S (2012), the soon-to-be-released sequel V/H/S 2 (2013) and The ABC’s of Death (2012).
While this movement generates a good deal of conversation about the fondly remembered Amicus productions of the 1960’s and 1970’s like Dr. Terror’s House Of Horrors (Freddie Francis, 1965), Torture Garden (Freddie Francis, 1967), The House That Dripped Blood (Peter Duffell, 1971) and Asylum (Roy Ward Baker, 1972) among others, the comparison is not exactly accurate across the board.
While the segments of V/H/S are unified by shared visual style and a wraparound story, The Theatre Bizarre and The ABC’s of Death come off as collections of essentially unrelated horror short films loosely bound by a flimsy wraparound segment in the case of The Theatre Bizarre or a basic concept as...

From executive producer Eli Roth (Cabin Fever) and based on Brian McGreevy's novel of the same name, Netflix's Hemlock Grove is a riveting one-hour murder mystery series that revolves around the residents of a former Pennsylvania steel town. When 17-year-old Brooke Bluebell is brutally murdered, any of Hemlock's peculiar inhabitants-or killer creatures-could be suspects.

While it may sound like just another new entry in the already overcrowded zombie subgenre, with two of today’s cinema’s greatest tough guys together in a fright flick about redneck hunters fighting flesh-eating rage zombies, I’m willing to give Infected a chance.
Synopsis:
An annual relaxing outing in the countryside becomes anything but after a blood virus infects a group of hunters, turning them into bloodthirsty maniacs. Now the pack of survivors must thwart off the creatures in order to see daylight again. Infected is a true, but wickedly twisted, tale of survival in the wilderness.
“Boardwalk Empire” badass William Forsythe and Reservoir Dogs ear aficionado Michael Madsen, along with the fetching Christy Carlson Romano (Mirrors 2, “Kim Possible”), star in this walking dead in the woods chiller from Inkubus director/co-writer Glenn Ciano.
Infected begins contaminating DVD and VOD on April 9th, courtesy of Screen Gems.

Los Angeles — Los Angeles police say actor Nick Stahl has been arrested for investigation of lewd conduct.
The 33-year-old "Terminator 3" star was arrested about 8 p.m. Thursday on Hollywood Boulevard. He was booked on a misdemeanor count of lewd conduct and released from custody.
The Los Angeles Times reports () that Stahl was arrested at an adult movie shop during a routine undercover police operation. http://lat.ms/YU6uBO
In May, Stahl had been reported missing by his wife, but he later turned up.
Stahl was a child star who performed in the 1993 film "The Man Without a Face." He also has appeared in the 2003-2005 HBO series "Carnivale'" and starred in "Mirrors 2" in 2010. An email seeking comment from his publicist was not immediately returned Friday.

The Twilight franchise is finally coming to an end, and Peter Facinelli is shedding the sparkling skin of Carlisle Cullen to get his horror on with Gallows Hill.
Facinelli is teaming up with director Victor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill, Mirrors 2, Hellraiser: Revelations) for a film that, at first, seems like it would be a better fit for something on the Lifetime channel, but things take a turn for the creepy side of things before too long.
In Gallows Hill, an American (Facinelli), widowed from his Colombia-born wife, flies to Bogota with his new fiancée (Sophia Myles) to retrieve his rebellious teenage daughter, Jill (Nathalia Ramos). After a car accident leaves them stranded in a rundown isolated inn, they discover the old innkeeper has locked a young girl in the basement and decide to free her. That turns out to be the wrong thing to do.

Nick Stahl's sudden disappearance is leaving many people scratching their heads, not least of all Stahl's wife Rose Murphy, who filed a missing person's report with the Lapd on May 9. But at least one person isn't concerned -- the person who saw Stahl the day after Murphy says she last saw her husband.
"He does this sometimes … He'll be back," the source told E! News. The insider (two of them, in fact) continued to describe Stahl as he allegedly appeared on May 10 -- casually dressed in a white T-shirt and transporting boxes outside of a West Hollywood apartment complex -- and said that Stahl left the premises on Friday or Saturday.

Well here's a strange and unfortunate bit of news that, while perhaps somewhat tabloid-y, seems like it deserves to be mentioned nonetheless. TMZ is reporting this week that actor Nick Stahl (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Sin City, Carnivale) has gone missing. His wife filed a missing person report on Monday, fearing for his well-being and suspecting that he was using drugs. He had supposedly been hanging out in the Skid Row area of Downtown Los Angeles recently, and back in February he had also been arrested for failing to pay a taxi driver. While a Hollywood star using drugs is nothing new, what's weird in this case is that for years there has been talk of a Terminator-related "curse", with bad things befalling every single actor who has ever played John Connor. Everyone, that is, except for Nick Stahl. Up until now, he had been the only actor to escape its clutches,...

EOne Entertainment have released a new trailer for Randall Cole's hidden camera thriller '388 Arletta Avenue'. The entire movie is shot from the Pov of various hidden cameras set up by the mysterious stalker of two unsuspecting victims. Nick Stahl ('Mirrors 2'), Mia Kirshner -below ('24') and Devon Sawa ('Idle Hands', 'Final Destination') all star in the new thriller which was also produced by 'Splice' director Vincenzo Natali. Of course if you like the sound of the concept then why not check out British thriller 'Freeze Frame' starring Brit stand-up Lee Evans ('There's Something About Mary'). In which a paranoid widower films himself 24 hours a day so he always has an alibi only to discover that when fingers begin pointing at him following a recent murder that the only tapes that clear his name have vanished. Let’s face it; despite featuring Keifer Sutherand, Director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes remake) and some brutal, creative death sequences, the 2008 remake was an overblown mess of a horror film. Even Sutherland hilariously pulling a gun on a nun couldn’t raise it above mediocrity.
So a sequel (Mirrors 2), minus the talents of Sutherland, Aja, and with a story completely unrelated to the first film, was looking to be quite the grim affair. Naturally, I just had to watch it.
It’s been one year since Max Matheson (Nick Stahl) was involved in a car accident that saw the death of his fiancée Kayla, and he is still coming to terms with his overwhelming grief. He soon receives a phone call from his father Jack (William Katt) who offers him a job as a security guard at the Mayflower Department store (the...

Hellraiser: Revelations was directed by Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2), the screenplay was written by Gary J. Tunnicliffe (Blade) and stars Steven Brand, Daniel Buran and Jolene Andersen. Dimension Extreme will release Hellraiser: Revelations on Blu-Ray and DVD on October 18, 2011 and the film will also have a limited VOD and theatrical release on September 1, 2011. So here's the long and short of it, in order for Dimension to keep the rights to the "Hellraiser" franchise, they need to make something fast. And so they did. And the resulting "Hellraiser: Revelations" as you can see below looks every bit like the cheap rights-retaining production it set out to be. Marking the first time Doug Bradley isn't portraying the iconic Pinhead--some guy named Jay Gillespie steps in instead--the franchise is now scraping the bottom of the barrel with the cheapie sequel specialist Víctor García ("Mirrors 2," "Return to House on Haunted Hill") being given $75 and an…...

In a cinematic landscape where the only horror films currently being greenlit by studios are remakes, you'd think that a brand new Hellraiser sequel would be a sight for sore eyes. And indeed, it probably would have been, if original writer/director Clive Barker had been involved in any way. Unfortunately, this is now the ninth film in the series and it was directed by Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2, Return to House on Haunted Hill) and written by Gary J. Tunnicliffe (Megalodon, Guardian). It looks like direct-to-video fare all the way, and to make matters worse, it's the first Hellraiser movie that doesn't star Doug Bradley as Pinhead. Word on the street is that The Weinstein Company threw this thing together just so they could retain the rights to the franchise. Clive Barker himself is none too pleased by the project; he recently tweeted, "I want to put on record...

If you knew it was happening at all, your expectations for the ninth instalment in the original Hellraiser franchise may have been somewhat low. Prepare to drop them further, if you dare to take a look at the trailer for Hellraiser: Revelations. To recap, this is a stopgap release from Dimension, to prevent their rights lapsing before Patrick Lussier can get going on his reboot, which ought to be a bigger deal. Revelations was knocked together in record time on a tiny budget (estimated at under a million bucks), circumstances it's apparently attempted to get around by going the found-footage route to some extent. Sadly, on this evidence, it still plays like a fan film, an impression not helped by Stefan Smith Collins' karaoke Pinhead. Doug Bradley, probably wisely, wasn't interested.Nick Eversman (Vampires Suck) and Jay Gillespie (2001 Maniacs) star as Steve and Nico, backpackers in Mexico looking for dodgy new experiences and,...

So, there’s been all sorts of confusion and drama on the latest Dtv sequel, Hellraiser: Revelations, coming to VOD on September 1st, then on DVD October 18th. First, fans were confused as if this was going to be the rumored remake or a direct sequel to the long-running series. Then, Doug Bradley confirmed, for the first time that he will not reprise the character of Pinhead, which immediately outraged fans.
From here, lots of hush-hush from the filming, followed by a sneaky limited theatrical run, which lasted like two weeks in L.A., and now, probably the most hilarious thing of all, is that Clive Barker took to Twitter to announce his final thoughts on the 9th film:
“Hello,my friends. I want to put on record that the flick out there using the word Hellraiser Is No F*Ckin’ Child Of Mine!” he screams via Twitter. “I...

Synopsis - Two friends in Mexico discover the Lament Configuration and unleash Pinhead, but one decides to try to survive by swapping himself with someone else. Once they go missing, family members go in search of them but find Pinhead instead. Pinhead makes his return to the silver screen, but that isn't quite the quality I was hoping or expecting. Obviously this is a low budget production, and doesn't seem worthy of the title, "Hellraiser." Hellraiser: Revelations, directed by Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2), stars Steven Brand, Daniel Buran, Jolene Andersen, Nick Eversman, Stephen Smith Collins, and Jay Gillespie. On VOD and in limited theaters September. On DVD and Blu-ray October 18th.
