This movie is partially similar to the movie - The Fundamentals of Caring. I loved the beautiful scenery of the plains, mountains and overhead shots of the roads and trees, especially when Kyle was running towards the pool. Lovely cinematography.
Loved the CU-shot of Amelia's cake and how the focus centered on her and the cake, while reducing the focus of Kyle; and then returning to medium shot with everything in focus. It was emotive.
Not everyone gets to celebrate their birthdays with others. I have had more unhappy birthdays in my lifetime than I could recall, even the ones celebrated in the company of others still made me unhappy. I guess the reason is because the persons I'd wanted to celebrate me on my day never did or celebrated me wrongly. I stopped expecting, got accustomed to it. Maybe there will be happier birthdays in my future or maybe not; who knows! But whatever happens, I am grateful for the now.
Loved Amelia's excitement when they both entered the room. Her excitement was infectious. This room is so cool; It's bigger than my whole house, she says. Had concerns though about the outfits Kyle bought for her as gifts. Just wondered why it was okay for her to be on shorts, and him on trousers.
I have never heard of anyone getting pulled over for driving too slow. Maybe it does happen in areas with stipulated speed limits but that scene was the funniest of all.
I wish all mothers especially young mothers, do life with their kids rather than abandoning them or putting them up for adoption. Life is tough enough, doing life with a mother in most cases makes it easier.
Wishing all foster mothers the strength to continue the good work they have started; it doesn't go unnoticed.
