Teju be bad girl😁 Loved it, loved it! Teju's tale was filled with power and resilience, we were rooting for her all the way. Beautiful story that left us in awe.
DELICIOUS
-Costume design has to be noted, for sure. When the movie started, we were introduced to Teju, freshly coming from Nigeria with her ankara scarf complementing her European outfits. Later, she was wearing her ankara wrapper in the bathroom, representing her bond to the culture in a foreign land. Beautiful!
-Teniola Zara King didn't waste any minute, she took us to the crux of the matter by presenting the ignorant, orthodox, and hostile place Teju was faced with
There were high and low moments which stirred our emotions. We sided with Teju but also feared for her
And what a powerful way to end the movie!
-What we took out of the movie was not "how to deal with racist people", but rather "how do you thrive when working with ignorant individuals". The story wasn't about "us" vs "them", but about Teju knocking out the obstacles on her way and commanding respect. Crucial lessons and values she would take back home and apply in a Nigeria where dominating men in the medical field would also create problems for her
BLAND
---Teju's Tale could have benefited from strong symbolism to enrich the story and bring more definition to Teju's character.
