The film initially received an R rating for "some crude sexual references". However, after Rebel Wilson and Jonathan Glickman filed an appeal on behalf of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, the MPAA awarded the film a PG-13 for "crude sexual content and language".

Actually, Paul Henning didn't write that, either. He was one of the writers of Bedtime Story, of which Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was a remake, so he was credited in both that one and this.
