The top of the spirit board has "Klaatu Verata Nikto" written on top. Though originating in 1951's "Day the Earth Stood Still" as "Klaatu barada nikto" it was later made popular by 1992's horror-comedy "Army of Darkness"
The scene where Shawn decries a "Photoshop hack-job" was particularly troublesome to shoot. It took countless wasted takes before the crew realized the GoPro's voice commands were on, and it would hear "Photoshop" as "GoPro stop."
All the gore and monster f/x were done practically.
The bulk of this film was shot in seven days.
Deadstream was filmed in the same house as the 1999 HBO film Made Men (1999), starring Jim Belushi, Michael Beach, and Timothy Dalton.
