Following a two-hour masterclass at the Cairo Film Festival, Gaspar Noé spoke with Variety about future genres he’d like to tackle: “The main film genres that really would interest me for a future project are documentary, war film, and horror. Probably I should even try to mix those three genres. I also would like to do a movie with young children, or a movie for children.”
The Argentinian director of “Irreversible” (2002) and “Vortex” (2021) had earlier answered questions from British-Iranian critic Mo Abdi, telling the audience of his sold out event: “Kids are like small adults. Spoiler Alert !!!Trigger warning: murder and suicide mentioned.
Hayao Miyazaki has a lot of hidden meanings within his movies that have his audience scratching their heads. Some absolutely have some fruit to them, some are a big stretch to say nothing. One of these theories involves a beloved movie, My Neighbor Totoro. The movie is so simple yet beautiful without having to really overthink it beyond two sisters dealing with big changes. However, it seems fans have investigated too hard into the message behind this Miyazaki movie.

It’s good to note that this theory is definitely not true or the theme of the film at all, as Studio Ghibli even had to speak up about it. It’s a conspiracy from fans who perhaps got too bored and wanted something much darker from Hayao Miyazaki. While the parallels are strong,...

Actor Nathan Fillion had Stana Katic as a love interest for eight seasons on Castle. But other than Katic, there was another character Fillion wouldn’t have minded Rick Castle mingling with.

One of the many stories that kept Castle fans coming back to the series was Fillion’s relationship with Katic’s. The titular character, Richard Castle, and Katic’s Kate Beckett spent several seasons teasing a potential romance between each other. Katic was also excited to see if her character would ever end up with Fillion’s, which she looked forward to. Unlike some other fans, Katic felt that the show wouldn’t decline at all if its two main leads became an item.
“I think that those two characters make a lot of sense together,” Katic once told the TV Addict.

Since 2016’s Fences, Denzel Washington has served as the cinematic midwife for August Wilson’s Century Cycle, a sequence of 10 plays depicting African American life in Pittsburgh during each decade of the 1900s. Following that first foray, which Washington starred in and directed, came George C. Wolfe’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and now, with Malcolm Washington at the helm, The Piano Lesson. One of Wilson’s most acclaimed and popular works, the play is set in the late 1930s and introduces a strain of magic realism that will run deep throughout the rest of Wilson’s plays in the cycle.
The Piano Lesson’s central conflict converges on the Charles family’s ancestral inheritance: a piano once traded for two of their enslaved forbears, and later absconded with by a descendant. Cinephiles glaze over when it comes to a Hallmark Channel movie.
For some, that crisp, red Hallmark banner promises aspirational storytelling with subtle double entendres, great bankable chemistry between actors, and a cozy Nancy Meyers aesthetic, whether it be for thrillers like “Mystery 101” and “Curious Caterer” or the beloved (and now iconic) Countdown to Christmas banner, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
For other, more cynical film fans, Hallmark content can easily be written off as a made-for-tv movie — never mind that some of the most iconic smaller productions in decades past started as made-for-tv films. And Hallmark, much like “Law and Order,” has been a rite of passage for actors, with a fair share of famous alums ranging from Sarah Paulson to Carrie Fisher.

When Daredevil first appeared on Netflix in 2015, it stood out like a sore thumb — especially when compared to the light-hearted tone of the MCU’s mainstream films and shows. Daredevil offered something else – grit, brutality, and moral existentialism.

Set in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen, the Netflix series followed Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who moonlights as a vigilante superhero. Unlike others, not just the MCU, Murdock does not channel the cosmic or something superhuman—he has a blind man’s heightened senses and a relentless moral compass.

Terri Miller and Andrew Marlowe, Team Behind ‘The Equalizer’ and ‘Castle,’ Sign With Iag (Exclusive)
Terri Miller and Andrew Marlowe, who developed the Queen Latifah-led reboot of “The Equalizer” and served as showrunners for its first two seasons, have signed with Independent Artist Group.
Miller and Marlowe produced “The Equalizer,” which returns for its fifth season on Oct. 20, via their MilMar Pictures banner. The series’ 2021 premiere episode, which launched after the Super Bowl, reached more than 20 million viewers.
Prior to reviving that franchise, Miller and Marlowe created the crime dramedy “Take Two.” The show starred Rachel Bilson, a former star of a hip cop series who realizes that her acting abilities make her a skilled detective. The show premiered on ABC in the U.S. and ran for one season.
The pair also worked together on ABC’s long-running crime drama “Castle,” for which Marlowe served as creator and showrunner and Miller as executive producer. Running for eight seasons, “Castle” starred Nathan Fillion as the...

Spoiler Alert !!!The following article contains major spoilers from the Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen manga. Read ahead at your own discretion!
Demon Slayer had the worst endings in all of shonen anime. Well, that’s a statement which might have changed now that My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen have ended. The series had quite the buildup for its leading villain, Muzan Kibutsuji, from the start, and fans thought he’d have an amazing backstory and powers to defend himself.
Muzan’s entrance scene in Demon Slayer | Credits: Ufotable
However, the final fight of Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle arc was so predictable and linear that fans thought the author, Koyoharu Gotouge, rushed the ending and hence joined the Shonen manga ending curse. Muzan’s conclusion ultimately elevated villains such as Naruto‘s Kaguya and One Piece‘s Kaido to the level of supremely crafted characters.

Fox’s Murder in a Small Town has just gotten underway, but it’s taking an aspect few could expect in some big guest stars! See which Smallville co-star is coming on the next episode!
Based on the novels by L.R. Wright, Murder in a Small Town focuses on Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), a former big-city cop who relocates to the small town of Gibsons, British Columbia. He figures it’ll be a nice and quiet job as the local police chief only to start uncovering crimes in the town, including murder.
Alberg does get help from his fellow cops and a relationship with local librarian Cassandra Mitchell (Kristen Kreuk), who he starts dating. While it appeared the show was just a standard mystery, it’s getting attention thanks to some surprisingly high-profile guest stars.
The 90-minute premiere had Oscar nominee James Cromwell as an elderly resident who’s suspected of a dark murder.

Disney’s long-expected move to fold ABC Signature into 20th Television brings to an end the media conglom’s in-house TV studio, which started off as Touchstone Television a decade before Disney bought ABC, subsequently being renamed ABC Studios and more recently ABC Signature.
Launched in 1985, Touchstone TV’s first major hit was Golden Girls, which ran on NBC for seven seasons. Other successful series from that era include Blossom, also for NBC, and Home Improvement, Ellen and Boy Meets World for ABC.

When you're hired to do a job, carrying out your duties in a professional, effective manner does not mean you have to like all of the people you work with. Obviously, you need to treat all of your coworkers with a modicum of respect (unless they're creeps or utter incompetents), but you're also allowed to be completely annoyed by the people you see five or more days a week.
This gets tricky, however, when your job requires you to fake like you not only dig your coworker, but, in some cases, are head-over-heels in love with them. Actors are already unique creatures who use their imaginations to make a living; when they develop an outsized ego or are just plain weird, pretending that they're the apple of your eye can be positively brutal. If you’re going to remake a classic Stephen King adaptation, you’d better do it right. Nobody’s ever topped Brian De Palma’s original “Carrie,” no matter how hard they tried. “It: Chapter One” knocked it out of the park, but “It: Chapter Two” brought it back into the park and poured manure on it, so they more-or-less cancel each other out. The TV mini-series remake of “The Shining” isn’t as bad as everyone remembers, but let’s not go nuts. It’s pretty grim when the 2019 version of “Pet Sematary” is your gold standard, since quality-wise even that’s just a lateral move.
Gary Dauberman’s remake of “Salem’s Lot,” however, raises the bar. It may be the only Stephen King remake that gets it right. Tobe Hooper’s classic mini-series adaptation from 1979 is still scary, and it’s a heck of a lot more insidious than Dauberman’s,...

Originally launched to everyone in June 2024, the free-to-play game has continuously added new content for its players to enjoy since day one. Season 3 may be one of the biggest updates to the game yet, so let's briefly break down the changes.
The headlining new feature of the season is the newest playable hunter, an At-st-piloting Ewok named Pilbush. Once a ubiquitous mobile game, Crossy Road broke new ground with its simple yet addictive gameplay. Tapping to guide characters across perilous roads, the hit title inspired countless hours of commitment from players determined to see what secrets lay just beyond the next traffic jam. When developer Hipster Whale announced the next evolution, transporting this enduring concept to an all-new 3D platforming format, anticipation was high.
Crossy Road Castle retains the bite-sized levels and constantly increasing challenges of its predecessor but reframes the action around navigating intricate castles rather than road-crossing. Each castle presents a wealth of themed rooms to discover on the climb to new levels, with procedurally generated layouts ensuring no two plays feel quite the same. Colorful bosses and cunning puzzles dot the journey, while regular shops offer chances to regain strength or snag new hats.
Though solo climbs offer humble thrills, where Crossy Road Castle truly...

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has a plethora of demons to choose from, and among them, the twelve kizuki are the strongest. Nakime is the Upper Rank 4 demon and also the strongest female demon present (except Nezuko), with the power to control the Infinity Castle. Yet, some fans have pointed out her low kill count.
As a demon, she was never portrayed to have killed anyone in the series. Yet, she is one of the strongest demons and is the only Upper Rank who survived the longest in the series finale. Muzan was also quite satisfied with her performance until the final arc of Demon Slayer.
Why Does Nakime Have a Surprisingly Low Kill Count in Demon Slayer? Nakime in Demon Slayer | Credits: ufotable
