Following Kevin Costner’s success in the highly acclaimed series Yellowstone, great things were expected from the actor, especially since he ventured into Western filmmaking with his 2024 two-part franchise starter Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1. However, although the sprawling Western epic had promised to be something fresh and groundbreaking, the film suffered a catastrophic blow at the box office.

This led netizens to express their disappointment in Kevin Costner, considering how the actor had previously created hype surrounding his Western epic. But surprisingly, when you look at the bigger picture, Horizon is far from an isolated failure. In the landscape of Hollywood cinema, where sequels and remakes are dominating the box office, there appeared several other original movies that sadly succumbed at the 2024 box office.

We are in mid-November right now, near the end of 2024, and this might be the worst time for you to upgrade or purchase a new Gpu since the market is not favorable for such a large purchase at the moment.
If you just bought Nvidia’s Rtx 4090 you might be screwed. Image Credit: Nvidia
The Gpu market is not at its best at the moment. Nvidia, Intel, and Amd’s plans have screwed over people who just upgraded or are planning to upgrade their systems with a more powerful graphics card.
You Should Wait Out A Couple More Months Before Buying A New Gpu Some of the older generation graphics cards still work fine. Image Credit: Nvidia
There are a lot of new GPUs hitting the market in the first half of 2025. This is one of the major reasons you should not buy a high-end Gpu right now. The Gpu...

Steve Carell recalled a literally painful memory from shooting his iconic 2005 comedy film The 40-Year-Old Virgin where he almost got seriously injured because of one waxing scene. Actors sacrifice a lot to deliver their roles perfectly, and sometimes, it comes to a point where their health is put at risk.
Credits: Steve Carell in The 40-Year-Old Virgin / Universal Pictures
In the case of Carell, his chest almost got mutilated and he remembered seeing blood. This is already too much for one small scene in the film, and his willingness not to use prosthetics definitely took a setback.

Aubrey Plaza's newest movie is officially a critical success — which also means the studio behind the super popular film, Amazon, is pretty happy right now.
In "My Old Ass," we first meet the movie's protagonist Elliott as her younger self played by Maisy Stella as she prepares to take hallucinogenic mushrooms with her friends; when she does, she "meets" her 39-year-old self played by Plaza (who recently stunned audiences on the Marvel series "Agatha All Along"). When Older Elliott dispenses some advice — including a strangely specific note to stay away from some boy named Chad — younger Elliot is suspicious at first but realizes that following it actually helps her solve some critical problems, so she starts seeking out her older counterpart to try and get through her younger years unscathed.

On Tulsa King Season 2 Episode 9, unlikely alliances and shifting loyalties set the stage for a battle against a greater threat.
Dwight Manfredi, ever the strategic thinker, partners with Bill Bevilaqua and Cal Thresher to tackle a new adversary — a move that’s as surprising as it is dangerous.
As these men come together, the cracks in their relationships deepen, and the episode takes us on a rollercoaster of trust and betrayal.
(Brian Douglas/Paramount )
The addition of Native American allies, led by the enigmatic Old Smoke, brings another layer of complexity to this unfolding drama. Known for his deep portrayals of Native American characters, Taylor Sheridan gives the episode a distinct feel that elevates the story.
With past tensions bubbling just below the surface, it’s clear this alliance is as fragile as it is powerful, making every interaction fraught with the potential for explosive outcomes.

Shot lists, storyboards, models, pre-viz: There are many different ways for a director, Dp, and a camera team to plot what a movie will look like before they start shooting. But cinematographer Kristen Correll and director Megan Park have a delightfully lo-fi, surprisingly useful approach to conceptualizing the world they’re about to create.
Correll told IndieWire that, as part of starting to talk about what the film would need and how they would shoot it, she had Park read aloud the script for “My Old Ass.”
She tries to do that with all her directors, because hearing a script helps Correll locate the exact tone she will need to create with her camera.
“The way I’m reading things in my head, I might think I have it correct, but then, you hear it from the writer/director and you’re like, ‘Ok, I got that wrong,’ or ‘I was spot on,...

Paul Rudd garnered a name for starring in many comedy films including The 40-Year-Old Virgin before becoming a big shot for playing Ant-Man. The 2005 film was led by Steve Carell and starred Rudd alongside Romany Malco, Seth Rogen, and Catherine Keener. Although every actor did an impressive job, Carell stole the show with his iconic waxing scene.

Getting a film made is far easier said than done. That's why most Hollywood movies are based on pre-existing material -- both to try and speed up the process of generating a story itself, and to have some assurance that there's an audience for the story. This mentality has led to truly original movies becoming something of a rarity. Truth is, Hollywood has always looked to existing IP (intellectual property). What's new about today's situation is that the IP they're generally tapping tends to be of a short-form or experiential variety: either remakes, reboots, and legacy sequels to older movies, or TV shows, comic books, and video games.
In the early decades of cinema, however, the main source for adaptations was literature. Where comics, games, TV and other movies are all visual mediums and come pre-loaded with their own imagery, books are a covenant between the author and reader's imagination,...

In 2002, it was finally all coming together for Joaquin Phoenix. He was at long last being considered a leading man after two decades of ensemble parts, and was a year removed from earning a Best Supporting Actor nomination for "Gladiator." The U.S. Army satire "Buffalo Soldiers" could have been the film to fully transform him into a full-blown, top-of-the-poster star, but it wound up getting buried for the offense of poking fun at the military in the immediate wake of 9/11 (it screened at the Toronto International Film Festival the very week of the attacks). So, it couldn't help but feel like he was more actor than M. Night Shyamalan's "Signs" needed for the role of Mel Gibson's brother.
Don't get me wrong! I'm thrilled Phoenix got the part if only for his terrified reaction to the alien video, a jump scare we get to share with him as...

It’s Halloween Week on Doctor Odyssey — but did our beloved love triangle bring us tricks, or treats?
Just like clockwork, our two favorite boys, Tristan and Max, butt heads in the beginning of the episode. This time, however, their beef doesn’t revolve around Avery. The pair spar first over Johnny Depp — Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow, to be specific — and then Neptune, when they twice turn up in matching Halloween Week costumes. (These two are so similar, we’re willing to jettison the idea of a throuple and root for a Max/Tristan couple!)

Oops, we're late reporting this one. We love following the Golden Horse Awards which give us insight into both Asian cinema as viewed by Asian cineastes and the Oscar race since the nominees here are often a mix of Oscar submissions from the current Oscar race and the next one (given the different calendar requirements). For instance last year's Golden Horse Awards featured one 2023 Oscar submission: Marry My Dead Body (Thailand) and at least two 2024 Oscar submissions: Abang Adik (Malaysia) and Old Fox (Taiwan). Here are the nominees for the upcoming ceremony.
We only spot one Oscar contender in this year's list though (so far - AMPAS hasn't announced the official submission list. So it's possible our list of 86 submissions is slightly incomplete) and given the release dates of some of the titles this list may be more predictive of next year's Oscar submissions in Best International Feature.

After four straight weeks of relentless mind-screwing, Grotesquerie actually started to make sense on Wednesday. And just in time for the finale!
Don’t get us wrong, there was still plenty of mind-screwing in Episodes 8 and 9. But it was a little gentler this time. It bought us dinner first.

In an entertainment industry dominated by fantastical blockbusters which often have blatant disregard for physics or reality, you could argue that the "John Wick" franchise might be one of the most cartoonishly fantastical. From the comical way in which every person in New York City seems to be a professional assassin, to the existence of magical bulletproof suits that completely stop the momentum of any projectile, to the many incredible stunts that feel taken out of a Looney Tunes cartoon, the "John Wick" franchise is very close to feeling like a live-action anime. It helps that the ending of "John Wick: Chapter 4" was actually inspired by a classic anime, but now, the franchise is quite literally becoming an anime.
It was reported late last year that "John Wick" would expand its cinematic universe with a new TV show, as well as an anime project. Though at the time we...

10 2024 Films that Will Get You Into the Halloween Spooky Season - Main Image
Though horror films are released all year round, the Halloween season in October is really the time to celebrate all things dark and creepy.
Several movies have been come to known as Halloween classics with films like The Thing, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Poltergeist, but 2024 has also brought in some interesting movies that should get you into the spooky season (in no particular order).
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Halloween isn’t always about things being scary. Sometimes things can just be gross and silly, and the Beetlejuice sequel from Tim Burton delivers a great return to his kooky depiction of the afterlife.
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega takes over the role of the dark gothic girl that was played by Winona Ryder in the original, and the movie also gives some interesting backstory to Beetlejuice as a character and why...

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre are on the case.
On Wednesday, HBO announced that the “Friday Night Lights” Emmy Award winner and the “Rebel Ridge” star will appear opposite each other in “Lanterns,” the cable network’s latest expansion of the DC Comics universe.
HBO says, “The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
Pierre plays Stewart, while Chandler stars as Jordan. Chandler’s participation in the series had been widely reported previously, but HBO finally confirmed his involvement.
Pierre has been on a breakout path for a while now. He starred in Barry Jenkins’s acclaimed Amazon series “The Underground Railroad” and M. Night Shyamalan’s “Old” in 2021. Last year, he played Malcolm X on the NatGeo series “Genius: MLK/X.” This year, Pierre starred in the Jeremy Saulnier...

Aaron Pierre, the star of Netflix’s Rebel Ridge, has nabbed the plum part of Green Lantern John Stewart in DC Studios’ and HBO’s much-ballyhooed series Lanterns.
The casting caps one of the more scrutinized actor searches in some time. Not only is the show the first major TV endeavor from DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, but the role of Stewart carries much significance, as the fan-favorite comic book character was one of DC’s first Black superheroes.
The intense casting process came down to Pierre and Stephan James, who is on the festival circuit with drama The Piano Lesson and who starred in the 2016 Jesse Owens biopic Race. Both participated in screen tests, with the actors squaring off against the already cast Kyle Chandler on Thursday and Friday. Each actor had their boosters, but the final decision was made Tuesday.

M. Night Shyamalan certainly has been busy this year pushing out his signature brand of twisty thrillers. So far in 2024 we have had his daughter’s directorial effort, The Watchers, which he produced; the intriguing modest hit Trap, which stars another daughter and which he directed and produced; and now Caddo Lake, which is being heavily advertised as from “Producer M. Night Shyamalan.” Set for a streaming debut on Max starting Thursday rather than going theatrical like the rest of his feature output, the pic unmistakably fits right into his own filmography, even if he turned over writing and directing reins to the team of Celine Held and Logan George.
Actually this one went into production exactly three years ago under the title The Vanishing at Caddo Lake — while Shyamalan still was working his now-wrapped Apple TV series Servant, which happens to be a key credit for his filmmakers here...

Plot: When an eight-year-old girl mysteriously vanishes, a series of past deaths and disappearances start to link together, forever altering a broken family’s history.
Review: When you stick the name M. Night Shyamalan in your marketing, you promise audiences a particular type of film. The trailer for Caddo Lake boasts Shyamalan’s credit as producer, coupled with the October debut on Max, making it seem like Caddo Lake is a dark thriller or horror film when it is anything but. Set in the sprawling wetland on the border between Louisiana and Texas, the real Caddo Lake is a protected body of water that has been important to indigenous peoples since before the United States even existed. With oil discovered in the late 20th Century, the lake took on a different importance, which factors into this mystery with an unexpected twist. With strong leading performances from Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen,...

The General Hospital recap for September 30-October 4, 2024 covers a week of major returns, rocky relationships, and one goodbye.
What Happened In Port Charles?
Despite two days of preemptions, Port Charles saw the returns of several familiar (and a little unfamiliar) faces as everyone prepared for Lulu’s transplant.

When Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) got to Port Charles, his first stop was Gh, where he met Portia (Brook Kerr) and Terry (Cassandra James). He got tested to be Lulu’s match before visiting his sister, and later admitted to Jason (Steve Burton) how strange it felt to be back. Meanwhile, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) informed Aiden about his father’s return, who clearly had issues regarding his father. Spirit Halloween is kicking off spooky season by trolling “Saturday Night Live” after the NBC sketch comedy series aired a Spirit Halloween parody during the Season 50 premiere. The fake commercial had cast members like Chloe Fineman roasting the Halloween store for “providing vulnerable communities with the things they need most: Wigs that give you a rash, single-use fog machines and costumes of famous characters tweaked just enough to avoid a lawsuit.”
The official X account for Spirit Halloween responded by giving “SNL” its own costume tweaked just enough to avoid a lawsuit. The store posted a photo for an “SNL” Season 50 costume titled “Irrelevant 50-Year-Old TV Show” that includes “dated references, unknown cast members and shrinking ratings.”
“We are great at raising things back from the dead,” the Spirit Halloween account wrote in the caption.

Kris Kristofferson did his best to get Johnny Cash to listen to his songs when he was still a struggling artist. At the time, though, Cash was a major star and had grown accustomed to receiving tapes from young musicians. When Kristofferson realized Cash likely hadn’t listened to his tape, he stole a helicopter to make sure his music got to the country star.
Kris Kristofferson took a helicopter in order to get his song to Johnny Cash
Kristofferson began sweeping floors at Columbia Records. While working there, he gave one of his tapes to June Carter Cash and requested that she pass it on to her husband.
“Kris came right into the control room at Columbia sweeping up and slipped his tape to June, who gave it to me,” Cash said, per Rolling Stone. “I put it with a big pile of others that had been given to me.

Deadline brings word today that Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) and Stephan James (Beacon 23) are the current frontrunners to play John Stewart in DC Studios and HBO's Lanterns.
Kyle Chandler was cast as Hal Jordan earlier this week and, according to the trade, no offers have been made yet. As we reported earlier today, F1 star Damson Idris was in the running but that no longer appears to be the case.
Both actors would bring a lot of this series and the wider Dcu and, as of now, it appears the plan is for John to be this shared world's main Green Lantern. Chandler has reportedly only signed a deal for Lanterns and no features so likely won't appear beyond the series.
Pierre is no stranger to the DC Universe after playing Dev-Em in Krypton and recently became a fan favourite choice to play John after starring in Rebel Ridge.

Is that the faint sound of a hand trailing through a field of wheat? No! It's the bombastic sound of a brand new trailer for "Gladiator II." Director Ridley Scott's follow-up to his 2000 historical epic once again centers around the blood-stained sands of Rome's Colosseum, and a vengeful warrior whose violence is entertainment for the masses.
In this sequel, Paul Mescal ("All of Us Strangers") plays the now fully-grown Lucius, nephew to Joaquin Phoenix's villainous emperor Commodus from the original film. Though he was once the heir to the throne of the Roman Empire, "Gladiator II" begins with Lucius living far away from the capital, having settled in the north African kingdom of Numidia. When his home is invaded by a Roman army, commanded by Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal), Lucius finds himself back at the Colosseum -- only this time he's not in the stands as a spectator,...

Back in early 2023, filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan told Collider, “I have three movie ideas. I even have the structure of all three to some extent. And so it’s a very weird and interesting situation I’m feeling. I wish I could tell them faster. I wish I could get there faster, but there is no shortcut. I have to spend the six to nine months to write it. I have to storyboard for three months, and then we have pre-production, and then shooting it, and edit for as long as I can get every single second.“ Soon after, it was announced that he had secured a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. – and he immediately went to work on his recent thriller Trap. Now that Trap has made its way out into the world, it’s time for Shyamalan to start putting the second of those three movie ideas he said he had,...

"Rings of Power" season 2 is without a doubt the nerdiest show on TV. It relishes translating absurdly small details from Tolkien's Legendarium to the screen, exploring not only the origin of some of the biggest moments in the history of Middle-earth, but also making sure to remember the weird, silly, and poetic aspects of the source material like Tom Bombadil, Old Man Willow, or the existence of orc babies.
Even when actually exploring the origin of items like the rings or Sauron fooling Celebrimbor with his Halbrand disguise (and then his Annatar disguise), the show makes sure to provide its own spin on the source material while still honoring the essence of the mythos. Take Mordor, which gets its own origin story in season 1 of the show -- an origin story that was not what fans expected, but still resulted in the best episode of that season. The transformation of...

Plot: A mushroom trip brings free-spirited Elliott face-to-face with her 39-year-old self. But when Elliott’s “old ass” delivers warnings to her younger self, Elliott realizes she has to rethink everything about her family, life, and love.
Review: Whether it’s Weird Science or even a Freaky Friday, it can be fun in a film where logic takes a backseat to entertainment. Do I need a full-blown explanation for how a computer and a barbie doll resulted in one of the most beautiful women in existence? Of course not! This is a movie after all and if we’re able to suspend our disbelief that people can fly, I think a little lunacy for the sake of a story can be quite appealing. So I was intrigued by My Old Ass and its focus on a young girl meeting her older self and rethinking her future. But it doesn’t...

Early in his acting career, Aaron Pierre heard he was too tall to ever convincingly convey emotion onscreen. The passing remark stayed with Pierre, who, standing at 6 foot, 3 inches, has spent much of his career disproving that notion with memorable characters on stage and screen.
After starting out in London theater, Pierre broke out as an enslaved man fighting for freedom in Barry Jenkins’ historical limited series “The Underground Railroad” and as a rapper cheekily named “Mid-Sized Sedan” in M. Night Shyamalan’s existential horror film “Old.” But this year marks a new career-high for the 30-year-old English performer, who became the latest actor to reexamine the legacy of Malcolm X in the fourth season of National Geographic’s anthology series “Genius” and will debut as the rich baritone voice of Mufasa in Jenkins’ new “Lion King” prequel this December.

There's a corner of the multiverse where Neon beat out Netflix to acquire "Hit Man" and turned the Glen Powell-Adria Arjona two-hander into the word-of-mouth theatrical hit it deserved to be. It's possible that same, better timeline is also where one of the streamer's rivals released "Rebel Ridge" in theaters instead of directly onto streaming, ensuring we would all be heralding Aaron Pierre as our next major movie star right about now.
Fortunately, Jeremy Saulnier's tension-ratcheting action-drama has managed to avoid being swallowed into the streaming void and is currently topping the Netflix charts in the U.S., which means the internet is actively in the process of fan-casting Pierre's next big project. With naught but a voice role as a young Mufasa in his "Underground Railroad" director Barry Jenkins' upcoming "Lion King" prequel on his docket, what do people have in mind for Pierre? Playing a superhero, of course!
