On March 24, 2015, Broken Lizard launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise $2 million to produce the film. They surpassed their goal just over 24 hours later, and the movie was greenlit.
In order to maintain continuity from the first film, director Jay Chandrasekhar refused to shoot until the original cast were at the same weight as they previously were.
The ringtone on Mac's phone at the construction site is "Piña Colada-Berg" by Coconut Pete from Broken Lizards Club Dred.
This is Broken Lizard's first sequel.
Two of the three Mounties are played by Canadians: Tyler Labine and Will Sasso.
