The sign at the entrance of the 303rd Logistics building lists "CSM E.L Haney" as the unit's Command Sergeant Major. Eric L. Haney is the author of Inside Delta Force, the book upon which the show is based.
Sergeant Major Jonas Blane's codename (call sign), "Snake Doctor," is a southern United States term for a dragonfly. Dragonflies are believed to follow snakes and stitch up their wounds when they are injured.
All the actors had a part time session of learning Spanish and Arabic.
The T-shirt hanging in Alpha Team's ready room says "Welcome to the US Army" with the acronym "BOHICA" painted underneath. This is a subtle nod to SEAL Team SIX creator Richard Marcinko who coined the term.
Of the main unit members (Dennis Haysbert, Max Martini, Scott Foley, Michael Irby, Demore Barnes and Wes Chatham) Wes Chatham is the only one who actually served in the military. He served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation firefighter on the flight deck of the USS Essex, working in crash and salvage for four years.
