The more things change, the more they stay the same. The 11th annual Life Is Beautiful Festival kicked off on Friday, but the downtown Las Vegas staple looked a little different this year. In previous iterations, the festival has taken over 18 city blocks of downtown Las Vegas — located about five miles south of the famed Strip —but organizers switched it up this year, opting instead for a two-day “Big Beautiful Block Party” near the original site. Due to the smaller footprint, stages sat side by side, and sets didn’t overlap.

James Blake melds the surreal and the sentimental with his new video for “Can’t Believe the Way We Flow.”
Director Frank Lebon sets the electro-soul cut to a dizzying montage of scenes between 30 real-life couples: arguing over breakfast, cleaning toilets, having sex and carrying on with their ordinary lives. Lebon also fills the clip with more random touches, including moments of what appears to be bird shit falling on people — including Blake, who sheepishly sings the track on a city bench. In contrast, the visual centerpiece is a stunning...

James Blake has dropped the video for his Assume Form single “Mile High,” featuring Travis Scott and producer Metro Boomin.
The British singer shared the video on Sunday, just hours before Scott is set to perform as part of the Maroon 5-headliner Super Bowl Liii halftime show.

I was going to tell y’all about my absolutely fabulous weekend at the Denver Comic Con, but besides bringing home great memories, super inspiration, and renewed zest to write a children’s book and some comics, I also brought home…
Something not so pleasant.
It started with a sore throat on Wednesday morning—my tonsils were swollen and it hurt to swallow, but I felt all right otherwise, so figured it was from the air conditioning and popped an Advil along with my tea and usual dosages of Vitamin C and D3 and all those anti-oxidant supplements. And I felt better by the afternoon.

In 2006, Alan Jones of Total Film coined the term "Splat Pack" to identify a group of young directors who were making waves at the box office with a crop of ultra-violent, hard-r horror films like "Hostel" (Eli Roth), "High Tension" (Alexandre Aja) and "Saw" (James Wan). Included in that group was Neil Marshall, who made his feature directorial debut with 2002's well-received werewolf horror-comedy "Dog Soldiers" and hit a high point with 2005's "The Descent," a harrowingly bleak, blood-drenched creature feature about a group of spelunkers being terrorized by pale-skinned humanoid cave dwellers. Though Marshall has dipped in and out of horror in the years since -- his recent credits include the 2010 historical actioner "Centurion" and two episodes of HBO's "Game of Thrones" -- he remains most closely associated with the genre that made him a star. Now he's making a return to form with "Tales of Halloween," a new ten-part anthology film created,...

You might not expect Colorado to be the place to be this New Years Eve – that is, unless you’ve got your finger on the pulse of Edm. Denver massive Decadence Nye has revealed its first wave of lineup announcements for those ringing in the New Year in the Mile High City, and quite frankly I wouldn’t have expected Global Dance (or its parent company, Aeg Live, for that matter) to give it this big of a budget.
A series of farcical lineup announcement memes almost stole the show this time around, but the actual entertainment roster still managed to deliver tenfold. Hardwell, deadmau5 and Jack Ü hold down the top tier of this year’s lineup for the first time. Bassnectar makes an obligatory return as Colorado’s love affair with bass music has yet to diminish, and artists like Galantis, Odesza and Excision round out the current list of names.

Always looking to stay healthy, Lena Dunham recently became an avid runner, having overcome a long history of disdain for the activity.
On Wednesday (July 29) the “Girls” actress posted a shutterbug’s snapshot of her out for a job via Instagram, admitting that she’s come around to appreciate a brisk jaunt.
Lena wrote, “Not usually one to post a paparazzi shot but this fills me with pride. Basically my whole life I have hated running and run like a wounded baby Pterodactyl. It was embarrassing and honestly I did not trust myself to escape a burning building or even move briskly towards a buffet. @jennikonner is directing the season finale of Girls and decided that as Hannah evolved so would her run, so she got me a training session with Matt Wilpers from Mile High Run Club. Within an hour I had a different relationship to this formerly torturous activity.

While it is currently enjoying the success of shows such as the long-running Suits, the second-season renewal Sirens, and the brand new Dig, USA Network has now announced its 2015/2015 development slate, and it contains nine new scripted dramas to get excited about.
Backed by big names – including Rob Reiner, Catherine Hardwicke, Len Wiseman, Barry Sonnenfeld and Charlize Theron – these fledgling projects indicate a major push forward in original programming for the channel, and a major shift into television for high profile filmmakers.
Paradise Pictures: From the team that delivered Suits (Aaron Korsh, Rick Muirragui), this period drama is set in 1940s Hollywood and follows the fortunes of those trying to make it to the top of the entertainment industry tree, against a backdrop of blacklists, the rise of television, and the fall of studio monopolies.
Starchitects: An episodic drama exploring the workplace pressures at a top-level Los Angeles architecture firm.
