Two forces behind the beloved Showtime series The L Word have found their way back together.

Creator Ilene Chaiken and star Jennifer Beals have teamed to launch Run-A-Muck, a company described as a cross-platform queer media brand designed to produce content across film, TV and live events. Though they are not ready to reveal any projects that are already packed in their pipeline, the pair did reveal their business partners on the Run-A-Muck endeavor. Beals and Chaiken are joined by founding partners, WME’s director of impact and inclusion, Caroline Joyner, and business executive and entrepreneur, Jenn Smira.

Lionsgate Television has optioned the R.F. Kuang novel “Yellowface” with plans to develop it as a scripted series, Variety has learned exclusively.

Karyn Kusama is onboard to direct and executive produce the potential series. Captivate Entertainment, known for the Jason Bourne film franchise, and Constance Wu and Justine Suzanne Jones of Tempo Wubato Productions are also set to produce, with Ben Smith of Captivate executive producing. Adam Docksey, vice president of development at Captivate, is helping to oversee the project for the company. No writer is currently attached.

The iconically seductive silent film star Clara Bow is being further immortalized courtesy of a festival at New York City’s Film Forum.

1920s superstar Bow, who recently inspired a track named after her on Taylor Swift’s “Tortured Poets Department” album, is at the center of a career retrospective screening series at the New York City indie theater. Deemed the very first “It Girl,” Bow starred in films such as “Wings,” “The Saturday Night Kid,” and short “The Pill Pounder” which was recently rediscovered and subsequently restored after 101 years.

Bow’s turn in silent comedy “It” also inspired the very term “It Girl,” which refers to “sex appeal” as coined by British author Elinor Glyn, who also appears in the feature as well as a young Gary Cooper.

Oh, well! You know what they say: If you want a movie loved right, then you have to throw your own bra at it.

Hulu may have started out as the redheaded stepchild of the streamers back in Netflix’s heyday, but it has stuck around long enough to have firmly established itself as one of the old standbys. It follows, then, that Hulu would have a veritable fount of LGBTQ content ready to compete with the robust queer catalogues available to subscribers of Netflix, HBO, and other platforms.

A brief perusal of Hulu’s LGBTQ section doesn’t disappoint, but digging in deeper will give you the best chance at a genuinely memorable watch. Exclusive: Universal TV has acquired rights to Liza Palmer’s latest book Family Reservations, which it will develop at NBC with writer/executive producer Ilene Chaiken and Keshet Studios.

The book, which publishes today, follows culinary pioneer and world-renowned restaurateur Maren Winter, who is nearing retirement. Each of her three daughters is eager to take the reins of running her restaurant empire, the Winter Group. Ruled by her deep insecurities about becoming irrelevant, Maren pits her three daughters against each other, beginning her own dangerous descent into madness and starting the Winter sisters on their journey to freedom.

Palmer will EP the project with Chaiken, along with Avi Nir (Keshet Media Group), Keren Shahar (Keshet International), Lisa Roos (Keshet Studios) and Peter Traugott (Keshet Studios). Heather Brewster (Keshet Studios) will co-ep.

Exclusive: Uncoupled is not getting saved after all. Showtime has decided not to proceed with Season 2 of the comedy series, from Emily in Paris creator Darren Star and Modern Family veteran Jeffrey Richman, Deadline has learned. A rep for the network could not be reached for comment.

The reversal comes a little over a year after Showtime stepped in to pick up the MTV Entertainment Studios-produced Uncoupled following its cancellation by Netflix after one season. Showtime’s creative team was to put the project into redevelopment to tailor it to the network’s sensibilities, and the decision not to do a second season came after months of work on that, sources said.

Series star Neil Patrick Harris revealed in June that Season 2 was supposed to start filming in early July of last year but production was delayed due to the WGA strike.

Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s search for a new Season 4 showrunner is finally over as Ozark executive producer John Shiban is set to take the reins of the NBC crime drama. The move comes after constant reshuffles at the top of the Christopher Meloni-led series. Since premiering in April 2021, the show has already gone through five showrunners. Chicago Fire EP Matt Olmstead was originally the writer/showrunner for the spinoff but stepped down in October 2020 before the show had even made it to air. The L Word co-creator Ilene Chaiken replaced him, but she only made it halfway through Season 2 before being replaced by Hannah Montana co-creator Barry O’Brien, who stood in as interim showrunner. It was 2017, and I was sifting through a hundred pages of printed-out poetry, essays, photography, and art. Earlier that day, I'd gone to my college campus's library and paid - at a painful 10 cents per page - to have the soon-to-be journal issue printed in its entirety.

I was just starting an internship with Sinister Wisdom, the nearly 50-year-old pillar of lesbian literary and arts publishing. I was an editorial assistant of sorts, helping the editor ready a journal issue for print and distribution. Now, sitting on the floor of my bedroom with hundreds of pages of writing fanning out around me, it was time to order the manuscript, paying attention to flow, theme, and genre.

Long before the commercial success of "Crazy Rich Asians," "Shang-Chi," "Fire Island," and "Everything Everywhere All at Once" heralded a new age of Asian representation in Hollywood, Alice Wu's "Saving Face" paved the way for queer Asian visibility in 2004.

Last year, when I watched the film for the first time, I had a vague inkling that I aspired to become a screenwriter and filmmaker. I had taken a few screenwriting classes through a nonprofit arts organization, but I felt deep insecurity that the subjects I was writing about - my American-born Chinese experience of being queer in an ethno-burb in Los Angeles - were too specific and too esoteric to be relevant to any audience.

Julian Sands has officially been pronounced dead nearly five months after he went missing during a hike in California. Authorities confirmed the identification of his remains on Tuesday. Sands was 65.

“The identification process for the body located on Mt. Baldy on June 24, 2023, has been completed and was positively identified as 65-year-old Julian Sands of North Hollywood. The manner of death is still under investigation, pending further test results,” the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “We would like to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers that worked tirelessly to locate Mr.
