I have very sad news to report tonight. It has been announced that Tony Todd has died at the age of 69. The legendary actor is best known for his roles in Candyman, Final Destination, Platoon, The Crow, Night of the Living Dead, and his many appearances in the Star Trek franchise. He was a massively talented actor whose incredible baritone voice made every project so much better. This is a huge blow.
Todd’s wife, Fatima, told THR that he died on Wednesday at his home in Marina del Rey after a long illness. New Line Cinema, the studio which produces the Final Destination franchise, wrote on Instagram: “The industry has lost a legend. We have lost a cherished friend. Rest in peace, Tony, -Your Final Destination Family.“

Tony Todd, an American actor known for leading the “Candyman” horror franchise as its eponymous hook-wielding ghost, died Wednesday at his home in Marina Del Rey, Calif. He was 69.
Todd’s death was confirmed by a representative for the actor. A cause of death was not disclosed.
A reliable presence in genre fare across four decades, Todd’s series of credits include iconic titles such as Alex Proyas’ comic book adaptation “The Crow,” Michael Bay’s Alcatraz actioner “The Rock” and the elaborate killing-set-piece series “Final Destination.” One of his earliest film performances came in his early thirties in Oliver Stone’s Oscar-winning war epic “Platoon.” On “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” Todd donned alien make-up to play Kurn, a Commander in the Klingon Defense Force and the brother of Worf (played by series regular Michael Dorn).

Erich Anderson, who was sometimes also credited as E. Erich Anderson, racked up over 100 credits during a screen acting career that stretched from 1983 into the 2020s, but he may be best known for playing the role of Rob in the 1984 slasher classic Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. A character out for revenge, Rob looked like he had a shot at being able to take down hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees for good… but when Rob finally caught up with Jason, things did not go well for him at all. Among Friday the 13th fans, Rob has become a favorite due to the fact that he seems so cool and capable at first, but then whiffs his shot at vengeance in a major way. Sadly, the actor who brought Rob to the screen is no longer with us. Erich Anderson’s wife Saxon Trainor has confirmed through social media that he...

This article contains casting spoilers for all eight episodes of Fallout.
The Fallout gaming franchise presents a big storytelling universe to play in. And that’s exactly what drew showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner to the Prime Video TV adaptation in the first place.
“It’s more creatively interesting to be able to build our own story in the world that they’ve carved out for us,” Wagner told Den of Geek. “That’s historically been the trajectory of Fallout. It’s traded hands many times, with different creative teams taking it over. It’s kept it fresh, kept it relevant. We chose to just vainly look at this as our Fallout.”
Of course, a big storytelling universe also requires a big cast to fill it up. Prime Video’s Fallout isn’t wanting for compelling lead characters thanks to Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul...

Perhaps you've had this experience:
You hear about an interesting movie or show, or you remember an old favorite, and you reason that since it's a well-known title, it's several years old, and you subscribe to several streaming services, you should be able to watch it for free somewhere.
Then you conduct the research that's necessary to find anything in the vast streaming landscape, and you realize that you're gonna have to shell out to rent or buy this thing.
Or worse, that film or series simply is not available. Anywhere.
If you're lucky, you can go on Amazon and have the DVD delivered in a couple of days, but you haven't seen your DVD player since Obama was in office, and you need something to watch now.

Officially, Prime Video’s spy drama Mr. and Mrs. Smith is based on the 2005 film of the same name. Unofficially, however, its origins are a bit murkier. Though this 2024 streaming iteration of Mr. and Mrs. Smith starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine shares its basic premise with the previous Brad Pitt and Angelina-starring version (a married couple who also happen to be spies), the series diverges from it in some major ways as well.
In an interview with The Today Show, Glover (who also co-created the 2024 series) even admitted to not having seen the 2005 Doug Liman-directed film when he decided to embark upon the project. Co-creator Francesca Sloane wrote in an open letter to fans that “No one would need a show that retold the same blockbuster movie. But what we set out to do was to make something wholly original.”

In that case, he was accused of assaulting his 27-year-old girlfriend, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, and taking her phone away when she attempted to call 911. Hello and welcome to the Scene 2 Seen podcast, I am your host Valerie Complex. Today’s guest is Harry Shum Jr. and we’re going to go through the highlights of his acting resume beginning with his first gig in 2003 on an episode of Boston Public.
I remember seeing him in Glee, but that heartthrob moment toward the end of Crazy Rich Asians gave me pause. I thought, “Man! He’s so much better for Astrid than her ex-husband!” It was a small cameo role but it made an impression on the audience, and helped to grow anticipation for the sequel. Cra was a massive hit and features a historic all-Asian cast, and was nominated for a slew of awards including at Critics Choice and the SAG Awards.
Shum was in the Netflix film Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II – The Green Destiny, the sequel to the Academy Award-winning martial arts film set 20 years later.

Leslie Jordan, the goofy comic actor perhaps best known for his Emmy-winning turn as Beverley Leslie, the cynical foil to Megan Mullally’s Karen Walker, on Will & Grace, has died. He was 67.
Jordan was at the wheel of a BMW when he crashed into the side of a building at Cahuenga Boulevard and Romaine Street in Hollywood on Monday morning. He was declared dead at the scene and could have suffered a medical emergency beforehand.
Jordan recurs as Phil, the gay baker at the café owned by Mayim Bialik’s character, on the Fox sitcom Call Me Kat, which returned for its third season last month. He appeared in all five of the new season’s episodes so far.
His other recent work includes turns on FX’s American Horror Story — playing different characters over three seasons — and the 2018-19 Fox sitcom The Cool Kids.

In its second season, ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” isn’t just the best sitcom on network television, which is now a bit like calling something the tastiest pasta in a hardware store; it’s rapidly growing into perhaps the finest comedy on the small screen, period. That’s no small boast for a show that fairly came out of nowhere when it launched last December to universally stellar reviews and decent but hardly overwhelming audience interest. That changed as word-of-mouth started to spread.

David E. Kelley has heard it for most of his career — that he has a knack for writing compelling female leads. Case in point: “Ally McBeal,” written at a time when there weren’t many strong leading women on television.
“I usually duck for cover,” Kelley says about the mention of this part of his TV legacy. “More times than not I feign ignorance and just go, ‘Look, I just try to write characters as interestingly, and with as much dimension as possible.’ I’ve not ever felt that I’ve got an inside track on female characters or the feminine mystique in any way. I just try to write characters. I’m always a bit confused [when people say], ‘you write your females just as strong as the men.’ And I’m like, why wouldn’t I?”
Kelley is modest when asked about the impact of his work on both television and the greater society.

Rashida Jones shines in “On the Rocks.” In this A24/Apple TV release, she plays Laura, a woman who suspects her husband (Marlon Wayans) might be having an affair. She enlists the help of her father (Bill Murray) to get to the bottom of things. She’s an awards contender for this role, but it’s surprising she hasn’t been acknowledged more for her acting by awards groups since that’s what she’s best known for. She has actually been recognized more often for her work behind the camera.

ABC has given its first series order for the 2020-2021 season to a drama from David E. Kelley.
Titled “The Big Sky,” the series is described as a procedural thriller about private detective Cassie Dewell, who partners with ex-cop Jenny Hoyt on a search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. But when they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.
Kelley will serve as writer and executive producer on the series, with Ross Fineman and C.J. Box also executive producing. The show will be produced by A E Studios and 20th Century Fox Television.
Although Kelley cut his teeth on broadcast television — having created critically-acclaimed shows like “The Practice,” “Chicago Hope,” “Ally McBeal,” and “Boston Public” — he...

Exclusive: Jessalyn Gilsig (Vikings) has been cast as a female lead opposite John Stamos in Big Shot, Disney upcoming original series written and executive produced by David E. Kelley and Dean Lorey and produced by ABC Studios, part of Disney Television Studios.
The 10-episode series follows a temperamental college basketball coach (Stamos) who gets fired from his job and must take a teaching and coaching job at an elite all-girls private high school.
Gilsig will play Holly, the school’s good-humored and down-to-earth assistant basketball coach. She replaces Shiri Appleby, who had been tapped for the part in October.
The role of Holly was originally conceived and cast younger but I hear the character has since evolved to be more of a contemporary to Stamos’ Marvin — and potential love interest for him down the road — leading to the recasting.
Big Shot reunites Gilsig with Kelley; she played one of the...

On Saturday, during the guild’s convention at DGA headquarters in Los Angeles, Schlamme was selected by acclamation of 155 delegates, representing more than 18,000 members.
“It is my honor to once again accept the position of President of the Directors Guild of America,” Schlamme said in a statement. “It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly. We’re in a time of immense change, and the next few years will be critical for the DGA and for our industry. I am focused and ready to lead us through our next negotiations, and to ensure that the creative and economic rights of directors and their teams are protected for years to come. And I am fortunate that serving alongside me is a dedicated,...

Exclusive: Peter Johnson will be departing Mrc where he served as President of Television development for the past two years. He is leaving to pursue other opportunities, including producing.

Since her appointment in April, Henderson has built up her team by bringing in several people, most notably Mary-Claire Manley who joined as a VP from Ucp.
Mrc’s TV series roster includes Ozark on Netflix and the upcoming The Great for Hulu, written by Tony McNamara and starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult, and The Outsider for HBO, starring Ben Mendelsohn, with Jason Bateman directing and executive producing.
