- The series' Japanese version shortened each episode by a few minutes to make room for TV commercials and the longer Japanese opening credits. Usually one song per episode was removed or shortened, and sometimes further non-essential scenes were also cut. The entire series was also heavily edited to remove any quick flashes or strobe effects, following a controversial Pokémon (1997) episode that infamously caused epileptic seizures among viewers, leading to a nation-wide uproar. Another difference from the original version was that most episodes would end on a short preview of the following episode. The exception to this is the second-to-last episode, which lacks this preview because the series finale was not part of the original Japanese broadcast. However it was later released as part of the Ohashi quiz show.
- Some character names were changed in the German dub, which only encompassed the series' final 14 episodes. These alternate names are exclusive to the series, and are not present in the German release of the Donkey Kong video games. The changes are:
- Cranky Kong to Bubbles, sometimes spelled as "Bubbels"
- King K. Rool to King Kroko
- Krusha to Kracher
- General Klump to Generaligator Zack (pronounced as "Tsukk")
- Kritters to Kroki-Truppen
- Kaptain Skurvy to Kaptain Narby
- Kutlass to Schnitti
- Green Kroc to Grünrock
- The channel Fox Kids aired a truncated version of the intro song, cutting it down from 1 minute to half a minute. This was partially done to remove the shot of Eddie waving around a lit match, for fear that children watching the show would imitate him. The scene from the episode Barrel, Barrel... Who's Got the Barrel (1998) in which Donkey and Diddy teach Eddie to use a match was also cut for this reason.
