With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.

The organization’s abusive practices — and the insidious long political game it plays — is revealed on June 2. The Duggars and their 19 “happy” kids are exposed as frauds, while also being manipulated by Gothard and enduring the scandal of Josh, their sexually abusive son.

There are diverse streaming releases slates and then there is Hulu’s list of new releases for May 2022. There are no big franchises here, no big themes – just a whole bunch of original and library titles for everyone to enjoy.
Hulu’s major original releases in May come in the middle of the month. Candy premieres on May 9 and stars Jessica Biel as your friendly neighborhood axe murderer. If that sounds a bit outlandish, bear in mind that this limited series is based on the real life story of Candy Montgomery and her victim, the tragically named Betty Gore. On May 15, Hulu will play host to Conversations with Friends. This is the latest adaptation of the works of Sally Rooney. After the breakaway success of Normal People, Hulu is undoubtedly hoping for more lightning in a bottle.

When Bosch first premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2014, the streaming world was in a very different place. Netflix had only House of Cards and Orange is the New Black under its belt. Hulu was still a joint venture owned by multiple conglomerates. Disney , HBO Max, and Peacock didn’t even exist. Now, in June 2021, Amazon Prime’s list of new releases is highlighted by one last outing for LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.
Bosch season 7 premieres on June 25. This will be the last batch of episodes for the series, before a spinoff gets rolling for IMDb TV. For those who are not caught up on the sprawling procedural, Amazon has some other original TV series this month as well. Brazilian crime drama Dom premieres on June 4. That will be followed by the second season of the Anna Paquin-starring public relations drama Flack on June 25.

Scorsese In Stockholm
Martin Scorsese made an appearance at Sweden’s Stockholm International Film Festival this weekend to receive the event’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Presented with the prize remotely due to ongoing pandemic restrictions, the filmmaker said that he had always had a “real love” for the country’s films. “I want to thank the Stockholm International Film Festival for this because the Swedish cinema has been such an extraordinary factor in world cinema going back to the silent period and until today. And it continues with wonderful filmmakers, restorations that keeps coming out from the 1930s and 40s so it’s quite extraordinary and I’ve always felt more than a connection, a real love for the Swedish cinema and the Swedish filmmakers. So this is very special to me. I thank you so much and as I say maybe one day I can finally get there,” he said.

There are a lot of popular streaming platforms to choose from, but Hulu has always stood alongside Netflix as one of the two essentials for households looking for diversity in content. In the past, they’ve been known for focusing more heavily on newer television content, while Netflix has always offered a larger selection of sought-after films. But now, it looks like Hulu’s June lineup is only going to continue the service’s recent trend of providing high quality movies to bring itself in line with their competitor.
First up, you can get wholesome with Mr. Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which tells the story of an investigative journalist who learns some hard life lessons from one of television’s most beloved personalities. You can then supplement that wholesomeness with My Girl and My Girl 2 for some wonderful 90s nostalgia.

June 2020 is set to be a big month for the whole streaming Disney family. Not only will ESPN have the entirety of The Last Dance on its servers for late-adopting sports fans to catch up with, but Disney will be premiering its long-awaited Artemis Fowl film. Over on its biggest streaming service in Hulu, however, Disney is taking things a bit more slowly.
This month finds only three major original releases for Hulu. Animated medieval comedy Crossing Swords premieres on June 12, then Ya love story Love Victor and cooking show Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi both arrive on June 19. All in all, that’s not a bad haul for originals for the typically slow summer months.
June 1 sees a pretty impressive crop of movies coming to Hulu’s library as well. October Sky, The X-Files (1998), and Casino will all be ready to stream at the beginning of the month.

Today is March 1st, which means we have a whole new set of titles to tell you about that just dropped on Netflix. The streaming service has 54 new movies/TV shows from nearly every major studio, including Warner Bros., Paramount and Sony, and while that number is still ten less than what we got last March, there’s far more original content on the service than there was a year ago. So, trust me when I say you’ve got plenty of options.
So many options, in fact, that I often find myself browsing for so long that I can’t decide on what to watch until it gets too late and I go to bed instead. First world problems, right?
In any case, below you’ll find the full list as well as a few descriptions of some personal favorites. Or some that I just felt like commenting on.

Damon Wayans was the second major cast member from "In Living Color" to leave the show, after Kim Coles. He departed following the third season to pursue a big screen career, starring in films like "The Last Boy Scout," "Blankman" and "Major Payne." But during his time with the show, he left an unmistakable signature that can be felt across a number of colorful characters. Think of "In Living Color" and you're bound to have the image of an angry, put-upon clown flash through your head (Homey D. Get ready for 12 more episodes of tough parenting and quick wit: Chrisley Knows Best has been renewed for a second season, USA Network announced Monday. Though the show has blown up since premiering in March - the April 8 episode boasted ratings of 1.25 million viewers - "patriarch of perfection" Todd Chrisley promises fame won't change the wacky family dynamics fans have grown to love. "I don't think that there's any subjects that are going to be off-limits with us, because I don't think we can parent our children effectively if we're not honest and current with every situation that's going on in our life,...

You could say that Miley Cyrus came in like a wrecking ball this year: when she wasn't getting tattooed, twerking on bears (and Robin Thicke), and smoking a blunt on stage, Miley was making insanely candid comments in magazines and interviews. This week, the singer opened up to The New York Times about her transformation from Hannah Montana to twerk-tacular pop sensation - and the quotes are pretty intense. Read them below, along with more Miley quotes that made us laugh, made us think, and had us asking, "Wtf?" On Playing a Character "I went from people just thinking I was, like, a baby to people thinking I’m this, like, sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day. It’s like, 'Has anyone ever heard of rock 'n' roll?' There’s a sex scene in pretty much every single movie, and they go, 'Well,...

The tension was so thick on Grey's Anatomy this week, you could cut it with a scalpel.
"Hard Bargain," complete with extra drama-inducing rain, was not an episode overly filled with joy, miracles or ping pong tournaments. Rather, the stress surrounding the hospital buyout continued to push the doctors closer to the proverbial edge, leading toward a final decision that's bound to have major consequences.
Remember when the survivors found out they won $15 million a piece and Cristina jokingly said, "Mo' money, mo' problems?" Her words couldn't have been more true.
After all, the entire predicament of the hospital is based off the fact that it couldn't afford to pay off the survivors in the first place... leading to the need for new ownership to keep the place running. So what do they want to do with their newfound money? Buy the hospital!
It's a weird circle of life, right?...

With Michael Bay busy testing young hotties to join "Transformers 4," and weaving Mark Wahlberg into the story, it looks like he's finding a way to set the story in China. Nope, it's not for creative reasons, it's for the bottom line. Mo' money, mo' problems. Vulture reports that Bay and Paramount are looking at mainland China to serve as the backdrop for the next film in order to help with the all-important international box office. Essentially it works like this: set your movie in China and work with a local production company, and the odds are you'll get preferential treatment. If you don't? Well, at the end of August this year "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Dark Knight Rises" both opened on the same weekend in China, effectively crippling both movies in terms of what they could have made if they had weekends to themselves. But getting your movie...

Mo' money, mo' problems?
Britney Spears is estimated by some to be worth approximately $200 million -- that's money she's earned from the seven chart-topping albums, touring for close to 15 years, signing oodles of endorsement deals, and hawking10 of her very own fragrances.
Over the years, Spears has amassed a huge fortune, so it's no wonder her conservators keep the pop star, who is an undeniable cash cow for everyone involved with her career, on such a short leash.
TMZ has obtained new documents from the singer's conservatorship case, dated Dec. 31, 2010, that show her assets totalled $32,376,140.90 -- but sources say that figure doesn't even include a number of valuable assets.
Since 2010, Spears has gone on to pull in some serious money, as her most recent world tour made $68 million, and is reported to have landed a $15 million contract as a judge on "X Factor."
Like many A-listers, Spears owns numerous properties...

Mo' money, mo' problems? Deep-pocketed hedge-fund whiz Richard Gere in Arbitrage has managed to coast on his outrageous fortune for a long time, but now, all those problems are catching up with him. It's bad enough that his wife (Susan Sarandon) and daughter (Brit Marling) are starting to wake up to his fraud, but after Gere accidentally crashes his car and kills his mistress ... well, that doesn't help matters very much, does it? The tightly plotted Arbitrage went over well at Sundance, where Gere's performance was acclaimed as one of his best ever, and for good reason: It's hard to root for a super-rich bastard to get away with (literal) murder, but as Gere just barely squirms his way through another jam, you almost want him to.

Well hello there! Welcome to this week's installment of The Ae Movie Club, the most thrilling celebration of Hollywood since the last scene of Day of the Locust. (Look it up, watch it, and wonder how you ever got along without it.)
It may be the dead of winter (though you'd never know it from the weather in New York), but things are thankfully starting to warm up on the movie front after the traditionally dull month of January (aka Major Studio Dumping Month). So that means you only have a few more weeks to catch up on all the Oscar contenders and last season of Downton Abbey before the cineplexes are once again in full swing. So - as a gay farmer might say, "Make heyyyyyyyy while the sun shines."

Aaliyah, Tupac Shakur, Elvis Presley and more late superstars have popped up in videos after their deaths.

On Thursday (December 9), the late, great Michael Jackson returned to the music-video world with "Hold My Hand," a clip from the upcoming Michael album, which pairs his vocals with production work from some of today's top producers.
And much like that album, the "Hold My Hand" video is very much a retrospective affair, loaded with triumphant Mj performance footage and uplifting imagery (smiling children, sunrises, bright blue skies), not to mention a whole lot of Akon. And while fans can debate whether the clip is a worthy addition to the King of Pop's massive music-video legacy, it certainly carries on the tradition of the posthumous video, a rather ignominious — and incredibly profitable — wing of the music-industry machine.

"DJ Hero 2" has entered the last leg of its path toward an October 19 release date, and though they've revealed 105 tracks that will appear featuring talent like DJ Qbert and DJ Shadow, FreeStyleGames had not yet named what the sequel's mix list would include. The industry lost three notables in the past few days - Bernie Mac, Bernie Brillstein and Isaac Hayes. Actor/comedian Bernie Mac died Saturday at age 50 from complications associated with pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital. Born Bernard Jeffrey McCullough on October 5, 1957, Bernie grew up poor in Chicago's South Side living with his mother and grandparents. Thereafter, Bernie appeared in numerous hit films including Spike Lee's 1996 Get on the Bus, the Ocean's Eleven franchise and the 2005 Guess Who with Ashton Kutcher among others. He was one of The Original Kings of Comedy in the 2000 documentary of the same name that brought Bernie and other African-American stand-up comedians to national attention.
