Ah, Demon Wind. I've seen this movie so many times I can actually quote it now! Cory and 9 of his friends travel to his grandparents' farm to figure out what happened to them decades earlier. What proceeds is a virtual remake (or ripoff)? of Evil Dead. One by one, the friends either become possessed by the demonic force that has inhabited the land or are killed by the demons and in turn become possessed. The special makeup effects were rather poorly done, but remained effective on a cheesy level. The director did quite well with maintaining a dreadful atmosphere. Demon Wind is high on the suspense, that's for sure. The acting was from the cast was very convincing for a film of this type. The ending was definitely lifted (or "inspired", if you will) from Night of the Living Dead, but not as effective as that film was. It also left it open for a possible sequel. Let's pray we do see a sequel! Demon Wind is a nice time waster. I don't believe it has ever been legitimately released on DVD, but you can bet the VHS and bootleg DVD's are floating around on ebay or ioffer. Check it out.

Of all of the Evil Dead rip-offs I have seen, Demon Wind is perhaps the most blatant, its basic plot, setting, characters, sound effects and atmosphere all clearly fashioned after Sam Raimi's 1982 horror classic. Director Charles Philip Moore is no Raimi though, and the result is a haphazard mess packed with random, oddball WTF moments and cheap gore effects, albeit one that demands to be seen (by avid fans of trashy horror, at least) just to be believed.

For starters, the group of twenty somethings that are attacked by ancient demons in a remote run down cottage includes a high-kickin' karate magician—you don't get many of them in horror films; then there's the human remains packing a supernatural charge, and the trio of superhuman, supernatural ghost girls who turn one victim into a doll (!?!); and let's not forget about the bird's egg that cracks open to reveal maggots, the mysterious fog that repeatedly prevents the group from escaping, the assorted mouldy, wisecracking zombies, the topless female demon, and the satanic altar comprising of a human skeleton and animal skull with whiplash tongue that chomps on a girl's head!

Absolutely awful movie. Plot holes are followed by plot holes. Followed by awful effects and even worse acting. I know it was probably meant to be as cheesy as it came out but for a 1990 movie its just horrendous and hasn't aged well

Now onto the best part: came across that movie just because its featured in High on Life game, that came out recently on the XBOX

The game is made by the Squanch team who are behind the Rick and Morty show.

What makes this movie remotely watchable is the commentary that was added in. Demon wind can be watched in one of the respawnable locations and one of them happens to be a cinema. It has 3 watchers already in it and who provide a 90 min long, non stop, commentary

Man oh man. This is a real treat.

I enjoyed this one. It has it all. and I aint lyin' neither. There is plenty of gore and there is ALWAYS something to laugh at. The film makers really should have gone for straight comedy.

I needed a good laugh. I've been getting a little burned-out at the job, having some girl trouble, and the whole week's just kinda sucked. This puppy just sorta jumped in my hand at the video store, so I bought the damn thing. I paid a wopping $2 for it and now it's forever stuck in my library of b-movies.

Here's the "plot". This guy (I can't even remember his name) has been having the sick, disturbing dreams and he thinks that if he calls up a bunch of his idiot friends and drags them to his dead grandparents' former home, then he will somehow find the meaning of life or some stupid thing like that. It turns out that the place is like a gate to hell, or something like that and a bunch of demons (who sound like a broken toy)show up and start killing everybody.

Yep, it's that stupid, but funny as hell to watch. Talk about some funny scenes. The two magician guys (who look an awful lot like a poor man's Sigfread and Roy) cracked me up. I loved their mullets and there is something a little homoerotic about the way they interact with one another. (am I the only one who noticed that?) Of course one of them is a kung-fu expert and he does kick a mean empty beer-can. I also liked the one over-bearing boyfriend who kept saying "that's why I keep her around." That was a howler. I found the old man at the gas station quite hilarious. His "warning" had me on the floor, wallowing in laughter (I'm sure if someone had walked in my room, they would have thought I was having some sort of convulsions.) Just his "there was BLOOD EVERYWHERE!!!" makes me giggle when I think about it.

The gore effects are pretty decent. The zombies look like they just finished smearing a jar of vaseline on their faces and regurgitated that big bowl of oatmeal they had for breakfast. Oh yeah, did I mention that their voices all sound like the lead singer of Cannibal Corpse with a slight electronic edge?

Well, I hope at least one person out there enjoys this work of art as much as I did. It takes raw talent and skill to make a film this funny. I really hope to meet the director some day. I'd also like to meet the guy who says "that's why I keep her around". That guy really cracked me up and I cracked open a beer simultaneously with his death scene. It's a shame the magical/ambiguous duo didn't stick around too long. They were the coolest ones in the group.

Well, I'm done reviewing this beauty. I'd just like to give a SPECIAL THANKS to the writers for coming up with that line "that's why I keep her around", the director for steering this whole thing in the right direction, the guys with the mullets, their hair-stylists, and the old man who gets to say "there was BLOOD all over the floors, all over the walls, there was BLOOD EVERYWHERE". I'd also like to thank that one girl who got killed in "Slaughterhouse". She's almost as talented as the old man and I'd like to see her in more stuff like this. She can fake a scream and die with the best of 'em.

One more thing: Lou Diamond Phillips is listed in the credits, but If he was in it, I must have missed him. Hmmm, maybe he was ducking behind a tree or hiding in the fake fog.

Nothing to see here. Demon Wind tries to exploit the success of Evil Dead series, but without any charismatic lead characters, suspense or comedy, it falls flat.

Only here and watched this because I was playing High on Life. Didn't know this even existed.

Comical watch. Granted I was watching it with the added dialogue from the game but it was so worth it.

The acting in the film is typical 90s B movie acting with a questionable storyline but still gets laughs. Not sure if that is the script writing or the delivery. Or the additional commentary provided by the game. I don't think I could watch this as it is, as I know I would struggle with the pacing and general progression and predictability of the storyline.

Did load up imdb as I needed to check whether I actually knew the actors.

"Demon Wind" shows some imagination in the early going...but by the last 20 minutes or so it has become an insult to anyone's intelligence. It has some OK (for the budget) special effects and some eerie moments (the best is easily the one involving a door that, at first sight, appears to be leading...nowhere), but just like the characters do battle with an army of demons (or are they zombies? They sure walk and moan like zombies), those good points do battle with the mostly laughable acting and an inconsistent, often moronic script...and they lose. (**)

I first saw this movie when I was about five and found it very scary. A few years ago I rented it thinking that it was still scary but instead I found myself busting a gut. I cannot believe this movie gave me nightmares for weeks. I think the most awesome part of this movie is when there is a naked woman outside the window but as the guy gets more tempted she turns into this disgusting demon thing. I hate to say it but I am a sucker for bad movies. I would not necessarily call this a bad movie, however as I have seen worse. If you are a horror fan or a deranged redneck from the hills of Arkansas this should really be your calling, all I can say is rent this mother.

You can generally ask two questions concerning 80's low-budget horror films. and this `Demon Wind' in particular. 1. Is it a good film? No.. 2. Is it a fun film?? You bet! Demon Wind is a gruesomely filthy and nauseating tale, filled with cheesy make-up effects and nasty violence. The story is pretty much non-existent and involves a group of young people revealing the horrible secrets of one of the groups' ancestors. Apparently, his grandparents used to live in a devil-worshiping neighborhood, and evil (in the form of demons and fog) still dwells around there. But, I got to hand it to this film.from start to finish, it breathes morbidity! The diabolical undertones, the playful gore and the (relatively) decent acting all together make this film raise high above the mainstream, uninspired 80's slashers for sure. It shows some creativity and guts (literally) where other productions from this decade fall into routine and oblivion more easily. This creators clearly got inspired by the success of `the Evil Dead', and perhaps even Lamberto Bava's `Demons, but what the heck! It's fun and made with lots of enthusiasm. Although.this film does have a pretty high `what the f***'- standard at times. Especially near the end, when flashbacks and laser shows are happily being mixed. And what the hell is the story on those two wannabe magicians? Nonetheless, `Demon Wind' gets my recommendation if your likes aren't too high concerning crap horror!

This movie has zombies, some gore, male and female nudity, scary scenes, the typical screaming bimbos and their dumb boyfriends so I don't know why a lot of people don't like it. The cast is good, and all of them continued doing Horror Flicks: Sherry Bendorf: SLAUGHTERHOUSE Eric Larson: UNINVITED Francine Lapensee and Bobbie Johnston: HOLLYWOOD'S NEW BLOOD Stephen Quadros: SHOCK 'EM DEAD Richard Gabai: AFTER MIDNIGHT, WASP WOMAN Mia Riuz: WITCHCRAFT 2 I really reccomend this movie to anyone that likes b- scary movies, this one is fun andscary to watch.

Practical effects good (Mostly). Everything else God awful hard watch.

From its fiery opening credits, we know that DEMON WIND means business!

Cory (Eric Larson) and his friends are led to an old shack in the middle of nowhere. This has something to do with Cory's dad and a series of nightmares. From the weird gas station to the creepy diner, we can tell that DW is attempting to build an atmosphere of doom like EVIL DEAD.

Does it succeed? Hmmm.

Unlike this film, EVIL DEAD had a definite gloom-factor that hung over the entire project. Unlike EVIL DEAD, this movie has a karate-kicking magician! Sort of dull at first, upon arriving at the aforementioned shack, it all hits the fan! Actually, some scenes are reminiscent of something Sam Raimi might have done: a scary journal, squawking demons, squirting goo, etc.

There are also seven sacred daggers, like in THE OMEN, and some unmistakable NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD moments as well. All leading to the big finale, starring Satan himself, covered in corn syrup and mashed potatoes!

With the proper amount of intoxication, and the right group of friends, this could make for one transcendent viewing experience!...

Demon Wind is about as much fun as breaking your legs. It is definitely an awful example of a film. So awful in fact that I don't even consider it a movie. I describe it more as a thing ... a monstrous thing. A thing that must be stopped at all costs. My friends and I first discovered this ... thing buried under a big box of video tapes at my friend's house. It was a late night and we had nothing better to do so we decided to watch some cheesy horror movies (we unfortunately picked this one.) Well, during the 90 minutes that this thing played we ended up laughing so hard that we almost threw up. The thing is literally pointless in every sense of the word. It's just a cheap, poorly done rip-off of Evil Dead. The whole "story" seems to be nothing more than some guy wanting to knock off his friends by inviting them to an abandoned house and letting demons rip them to pieces. I have a bet that the writers were actually writing the story while it was being filmed. I've seen bad horror movies before (Manos, Troll 2, HOBGOBLINS!!!) (shudder) I would have to say that Demon Wind could definitely contend with any and all of these films on terms of sheer stupidity. Watch it only if you enjoy laughing at stupid films.

Fun fact: This film is like a cockroach on steroids! Much like the ouija board, every time we try to get rid of it, it always seems to mysteriously reappear. Kind of scary huh?

I truly love horror films & try to give every one I see as much credit (or sometimes more) as possible, but this is really pushing the ticket...most of the cast were very like-able but hardly any of them could act at all - but then again think about the writing/dialogue of this mess...some good make-up but absolutely ridiculous special fx. All in all I give it 3 out of 10 - & am having second thoughts about that!!

When I began watching this I had high hopes, because it begins with a burning skeleton on a cross. Now there's a way to begin a horror movie! After this things get a little cliché, but that's not a bad thing in my book. The setting for Demon Wind is great and I love the atmosphere - the whistling wind sounds are really spooky. As the group are travelling in the car, there's a great scene where the camera shows a nest with an egg in, which slowly hatches to reveal...maggots! I thought that scene was cool. When they arrive at their destination they find the skeleton that was shown at the beginning of the film.

Demon Wind is let down however by the slow pacing - it needed a bit more action and less talking. The ending contains a fair bit of action but seemed a little muddled.

Overall, this is a lot better than many of the crappy 80's horror films and I would definitely recommend giving it a watch. It has a lot of nice touches and a great atmosphere that is worth checking out. Some people will moan that it rips off Evil Dead (and it does), but who cares?

It's not bad, even of some scene may seem idiot, it's got its scary moments! The plot is classic: a couple of friends got to the old ruined house of one of them to investigate on the death of his parents and understand his past, but something evil starts to happen and it's already too late!

There are good "black humor" moments too, just in the typical 80's way!

Good special effects, average (with its highs and lows) acting and directing, good atmosphere and a strongly appropriate location make this movie look good enough to be seen and perfect for Halloween nights! In the end I've seen bigger production look much more poor!

I mean really folks, who did this guy sleep with to get this acting role? The movie had promise from the special effects standpoint and storyline but the acting was beyond Incompetence.I love watching these types of films because usually directors are finding a young up-and-coming star by Jennifer Aniston or George Clooney to play their first lead roles but instead this director hired John from your local supermarket

The three guys talking the entire time is the best part. Now I'm going to let my phone meet the requirements to post this. /I'm going for the next step with a few things I have learned about my life so I don't know if it's worth the but it's not the first thing that I do in my head and it makes my brain think it's just me or my body but it's the only way to get the best of me so I'm going for that and I'm not sure what I'm doing with my mind right yet so I guess I'm going for it and I'm not sure if I can get it or what I should be able but I'm going for a long run in a long walk or not so I'm not going.

Most direct to video horror movies from the 80's and late 90's knew the formula to follow. 1. Provide a ridiculous plot. 2. Give your characters ridiculous dialogue 3. Provide the audience with a ton of blood and gore (to the comical Evil Dead level). 4. Never take yourself serious. Demon Wind does all of this and more. I remember watching this movie on HBO or maybe Cinemax (they both rotated the same films periodically in the 90's) when I was younger. Even then - the movie made me laugh and appreciate how silly it was. This movie won't scare you, most likely. It will, however, make you laugh at how ridiculous the dialogue, acting, and production value (though I really appreciated the makeup effects) is.
