The BAFTA Fellowship recognizes those who have “made an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, games or television” and is the arts charity’s most prestigious honor. He will collect the prize on Sunday, Feb. 16 at this year’s Ee BAFTA Film Awards.

Born in Surrey, England, Davis is celebrated for his roles in the world’s most successful and enduring film franchises such as Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter films and as Wicket the Ewok, selected by George Lucas himself, in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983). He went on to feature in the franchise regularly, culminating in The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

The idea of an evil version of a popular hero is a time-honored tradition in movies and TV, with many standout examples over the years. Some of the most famous protagonists of all time have had a dastardly body double, with the concept being a well-worn trope for many years from sources as early as the Silver Age comics of the 1940s. Not every attempt at manifesting a villainous reflection of a staple hero has gone well, but just as many have become top contenders for the evil hall of fame.

There are a variety of vectors by which evil versions of popular heroes can be introduced into a franchise. Evil clones, variants from alternate timelines, robotic duplicates, or even simply the normal character going off the deep end with a villainous arc are all valid choices, and the best dark reflections of popular heroes use them to varying degrees.

In an official explanation from a Disney executive about why The Acolyte was not renewed for a second season, Disney Entertainment co-chair Alan Bergman told Vulture via TV Line that the show's performance didn't justify the cost. He stated, "as it relates to Acolyte, we were happy with our performance, but it wasn’t where we needed it to be given the cost structure of that title, quite frankly, to go and make a Season 2. What started as a kiss that should never have happened turned into a horizontal bop between the Quartermaine congressman and his nephew’s wife. The Show’s Fate

Disney+’s “Willow” series, a much-anticipated sequel to the 1988 fantasy film, was canceled after its first season in March 2023. The decision was part of Disney’s financial strategy to streamline content for cost efficiency. However, the real sting came when Disney+ removed the series from its platform in May 2023, effectively erasing it from existence for viewers.

Because of Disney's absorption of both Marvel and Fox, the launch of the platform also meant that slowly but surely, streaming subscribers would find that their favorite MCU films were migrating over to Disney+.

The family fantasy was a delightful adventure, and everyone involved was desperate to make more seasons. You may remember that Disney marketed the hell out of Willow. It seemed to have more promotion that most anything outside the streamer's key properties, Marvel and DC.
