Quentin Crisp (Dr. Zahlus) was a distant cousin of Boris Karloff, who played Frankenstein's Monster in Frankenstein (1931), Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and Son of Frankenstein (1939) and Baron Frankenstein in Frankenstein 1970 (1958).
It took around five hours a day to put the prosthetics and make-up on actor Clancy Brown to turn him into the Frankenstein monster Viktor. This included about three and a half hours to put it on and two hours to take it off.
This remake of Bride of Frankenstein (1935) was made and released in 1985 which was the 50th anniversary year of the original film which had debuted in 1935. Original bride Elsa Lanchester was still alive at the time but in poor health; she passed away in 1986.
When a nude Eva walks into the living room, with her face and top half blackened out, it was Jennifer Beals's body double. Director Franc Roddam on his audio-commentary said Beals didn't want to do it.
To prepare for scenes where her character had to be crying, Jennifer Beals would listen to a tape for about 20 minutes prior to filming. She wouldn't say what the tape was but the production unit swiped it and found out it was an album by Sting
