Landon was all about cutting costs and saving money. He saw no reason why his angel had to wear different shirts each show. This was also in direct reaction and opposition to the very popular era show: Bill Bixby's Incredible Hulk, who changed shirts several times per episode, each time he "hulked out". Landon, who viewed Bixby as his #1 TV rival, considered it a waste.
