Reportedly, there was tension between Jesse Vint and director Bob Kellijan, whom Vint thought was not the right director for the job.
Seymour Cassel appeared in Ken Russell's 'Valentino' in the same year (1977).
Star Jesse Vint claims he first offered the script to producer Roger Corman to see if he would be interested in making it. Corman in turn took the idea and had writer/director Jonathan Demme write a version and Demme himself ended up making it into the 1976 film Fighting Mad starring Peter Fonda instead. In order to avoid a lawsuit, Corman promised Vint he would provide world wide distribution for his next film, which happened to be Black Oak Conspiracy, the very same film that Corman stole the idea from.
