Quotes
-
Johnnie : Well, well. You're the first woman I've ever met who said yes when she meant yes.
-
Johnnie : Hello Monkeyface!
-
Johnnie : If you're going to kill someone, do it simply.
-
[first lines]
Johnnie : Oh, I beg your pardon. Was that your leg? I had no idea we were going into a tunnel. I thought the compartment was empty.
-
Johnnie : Your hair's all wrong. It has such wonderful possibilities that I, well, I got excited. For the moment I became a, a passionate hairdresser.
-
Johnnie : [to Lina] I think I'm falling in love with you, and I don't quite like it.
-
Photographer : I wonder if I could have just a little bit more of your smile?
Johnnie : Oh, now, not at this hour of the morning.
-
Johnnie : You thought I was going to kiss you, didn't you?
Lina : Weren't you?
Johnnie : Of course not. I was merely reaching around you, trying to fix your hair.
Lina : What's wrong with my hair?
Johnnie : Well, I'm glad you asked me that. It would've been extremely discourteous for me to bring the subject up.
-
[Johnnie and Lina are facing a large portrait of her father]
Johnnie : He doesn't like me.
Lina : I know.
Johnnie : He doesn't trust me from here to there.
Johnnie : [speaking to the portrait] Do you? Well, you're right. I can only bring her unhappiness. Well, warn her. Speak up, man. It's your last chance.
Johnnie : [to Lina] Hear him?
Lina : Very distinctly.
Johnnie : He's not exaggerating a thing, dear. It's all true, every word he isn't saying.
Lina : I love him, father.
Johnnie : Did you see him jump?
Lina : I did.
Johnnie : Well, watch this one.
Johnnie : [speaking to the portrait] Sir, I have the honor of asking for your daughter's hand in marriage. Well, what do you say to that?
Johnnie : [tapping on the portrait which then falls off the wall] My oh my. You heard him that time, didn't you?
-
Johnnie : Come on, darling, smile. I know I've been naughty, but it's all for you.
-
Johnnie : Darling, you're not shivering, are you?
Lina : I have a bit of a chill.
Johnnie : Cold in all this sunshine? Well, let me warm you up. My poor little shivering baby. How do you feel now? Better?
Lina : Much.
Johnnie : Good. Perhaps this will help.
[Johnnie takes Lina and kisses her passionately]
-
Johnnie : I'm broad-minded.
-
Johnnie : Goodnight, Lina.
