Father Figures is a comedy that fails to deliver on its premise of two brothers searching for their biological father. The movie is full of stale jokes, clichés, and tonal inconsistencies that make it hard to care about the characters or their journey. Ed Helms and Owen Wilson play the brothers with no chemistry or charm, and the parade of potential fathers (including Terry Bradshaw, J. K. Simmons, and Christopher Walken) are wasted in unfunny and awkward scenes. The movie also tries to inject some sentimentality and drama into the mix, but it feels forced and unearned. The only surprise in this movie is a twist at the end that reveals the true identity of the father, but by then it's too little too late. Father Figures is a disappointing and forgettable comedy that should have stayed in development hell.
