4/10
Unfortunate push
5 October 2021
The artistic value of the movie is great. Acting is excellent. Entertainment is 8 out of 10.

... but this movie is not about that.

The first issue is about the political nuance between the lines. One famous author said that the goal of propaganda is to dehumanize the other side. Unfortunately, this flavor in the movie persists, albeit subtly. I am politically neutral and dislike any push to make me perceive another person as bad before forming my own opinion. The movie portrays assumption as already seeded at the time about who was bad and who was good. This is unfortunate.

The second issue is Comey's priority to safe the image of FBI. Although noble, and as he refers to it in his book as higher loyalty, I disagree with such position. The purpose of any government institution is to serve, not to self preserve. If self-preservation is allowed to dominate the goal to serve, then it compounds over the years and unfortunately gives reason for some people to scream about deep state.

Perhaps, I am too harsh in this review, but wanted to counterbalance other glowing reviews, which seem exaggerated.
