Emily Owens M.D. (2012–2013)
5/10
Not bad but nothing that special to tune in for

There isn't anything ground breaking about this pleasant romantic comedy drama revolving around 1st year residents in a hospital. So far after 3 episodes the characters seem quite cute and likable. Interesting but not too gruesome medical crisis get dealt with neatly each episode.

Mamie Gummer in the title role is a bit problematic. On the upside she looks intelligent enough to be a doctor and it's quite cute to see how she sounds and looks like her mother Meryl Streep now and then. On the downside her looks are more of a supporting cast or character actress. Some one a bit more conventionally pretty might have been better in the lead role to pull in viewers for the romantic story. Her pining looks are a bit painful. Not sure she has the appeal to keep this show afloat week after week.

Supporting cast is okay. Aja King isn't quite bitchy enough for her role. Justin Hartley plays Will the object of Emily's affection and he is suitably out of her league. Michael Rady is more convincing as a doctor.

Overall so far it isn't one of the stronger ones to survive this season. Serious hospital shows deal better with medical drama and 'Hart of Dixie' is a better all round comedy romance dealing with a doctor.
